Congrats on the double plat!
Morning all. Although seemingly not many of us left now :-(.
I put in a good chunk of time into Death Stranding over the weekend completing another 10 missions. The last couple of missions in the mountains and then made it all the way to the east coast and into a couple of boss fights - one massive boss and then Higgs. Yea a good period of the game. The Higgs boss fight was very reminiscent of Metal Gear (4) especially the punch contest. Really enjoyed it though if only because it felt nostalgic and old school. I'm on mission 66 and I'm nearing the end although I've got to travel all the way back to the start knot of the region in one trip - should be fun. Should complete it at the weekend. No plans yet what to play next at the mo.

Morning all
So last night i went to bed at 10pm very sleepy and thought: "let me just do a quick Elden Ring session, farm some runes, level up a couple of times and go to sleep.
Next thing you know i said "i think it must be 11pm so i better go to sleep." It was 1:30 am...
This game is bringing back the Bloodborne vibes.
I know have a new Nemesis. There´s a Black Knight that patrols a bridge on the road that goes oposite the Castle Gate.
I tried 3 times so far and the best i could do was dropping his health bar to half.
On the other hand, im very confortable with the whole area at this point.
I can take down the dudes on horses pretty easily (only if im also on horse) along with all the other foes there (huge sword knights, sodiers, wolves and the two giants that pulll the wagon).
I managed to venture south the area and found the swamp. Managed to kill the giant crabs (they gave me the scare of the game so far when they started chasing me).
Also found a really strange place with some catterpillers made of balls (??) that dont present real danger but the area has a purple circle with a name i never heard before asking me to enter.
Since i had 6k runes at the time i didnt want to risk them so i noped it.
Btw, i also found some ruins with a giant flower that i killed, went down some stairs found a boss (with the 6k runes on me!!), managed to kill it and opened a door to a room with a sorcerer lady that sells spells.
Im now aiming for a spell she has that shoots 3 balls to the selected enemy.
I think i remember reading that spell being is really good but it requires 12 INT and i only had 9 so im now farming to reach the required LV and get it.
So yeah...i think i like the game. :P

Thanks for the warning mate.
That changes things big time since i have no staff, havent seen anyone sellings it and god knows where i´ll find one.
Not sure what to do now.
By increasing INT i´ll miss the other increases that are more suitable for my character (Confessor STG/DEX based) so im not sure if its worthwile to stick to that path.
Any tips?

I´ll reach at least LV 12 INT and then resume my normal progression.
I´ve been playing for 9hr so far and im still in the beginning area. Im taking my usual aproach in FS games. I´ll only leave an area until im confortably dealing with the enemies.
I dont like surprises. lol

Haha. Exactly.
Its a good measurement of progression though.
One goes from having a rought time in an area, to having a rough time with certain enemies, then to only one or two and finally felling really good when we mop the floor with that specific guy that gaves us a really hard time (im looking at you knight with the spear and long shield that goes up and down the road near the Castle Gate!!)

Not a hard plat, and couple of very slightly grindy bits like having to replay street crimes over a few times to ensure I had completed all the bonus objectives etc. but all fun and easy enough.
Great little game, Obviously very much like Spiderman 2018, fantastic world and gameplay. Some nice new mechanics too, and drop-dead gorgeous and silky on the ps5. These games (including the upcoming Spiderman 2) are reminding me in a way of Wolfenstein The New Order/The Old Blood/The New Colossus - 2 fantastic full-length adventures with a brilliant blast of a palette cleanser in between, all-in-all a great trilogy.

You just reminded me that Miles Morales came with the PS5 and after putting it with the rest of my PS4 games i completely forgot it was there...

Morning all
Last night was my first moment of panic in Elden Ring.
I found some ruins in the lake in Limgrave (near the dragon) and found some stairs going down.
I went there, found a chest, opened it and...got teleported to a place called Crystal Caves or something like that.
I was completely underleveled to be there so i i let myself die hoping i was teleported back. But now...i was stuck there. I died many times trying to find something to save me and had to read online that i needed to turn right after leaving the shack (of course i had turned left before and got completely obliterated over and over).
I eventually found a site of grace and found my wayout the cave only to find a completely new area with a red sky.
I noped it and fast travel to me beautifull Limgrave.
Two questions:
Im currently at level 30...should i try to enter the Castle Gate now?
Also, how do i deal with the various skeletons that keep coming back to life eveytime i kill them?

As for the castle, I'll not spoil it, but it's definitely worth approaching it at least. It'll help you on your journey
DeckardCain's Sandals wrote: "Once the skeleton is down, attack the glowing thing it leaves behind. If they still aren't dying, there's probably a summoner about that needs killed before, but from the sounds of it, you may not ..."
Thanks Deck.
I confess i didnt notice any glowing thing as i entered Benny Hill mode after they started coming back to life.
I was on a beach if that helps.
Thanks also for the Castle tip. I´ll level up a couple times (or 3 or 4 lol) and start venturing there.
Im still using all my initial gear although i have found a couple of armors better then what im using. But...the confessor ropes look so cool...
I did managed to upscale my broadswor to +2 although now i need 6 smithing stones and i only have two since forever.
Btw, lets say i want to coop specifically with you or Error...is it doable in this game?
Thanks Deck.

I usually dont use the multiplayer side of the games too.
I only summon help when im getting frustrated in a particular boss.
I remember summoning help on Father Gascoyne on Bloodborne.
That fight was hard af...
On other note, i´ve also been playing Stray which has been a very pleasent surprise.
Visually its gorgeous. Like...really good.
The cat controls are very smooth and responsive and the story so far is the best thing of the game. Im really intrigued on where its going.

Coop works very well. You can basically assign a code that anyone can use to easily connect with each other. I also use it sparingly but have helped out a few friends when they were stuck. I'd be happy to do the same for you.
Serpent bow and hook claw build is up to level 75. It's been nice to revisit things. I also downloaded the Hotline Miami Collection but haven't started it yet. Thought it might be a nice change of pace.

DeckardCain's Sandals wrote: "The mention of Bloodborne persuaded me to reinstall it last night and never mind Father Gascoigne, it's those two bloody worf beasts on the bridge that are the real trouble ;) Enjoyed being back in..."
Haha.
Those that are not bosses?
I think i remember those.
I also have fond memories of those snake head dudes...and that mf on top of a tower. You remember him?

Haha.
Mate, i have a personal tradition for years now when it comes to From Soft games.
Every single time i kill a boss in any FS game i show my tv the middle finger in absolute anger (and relief).
I didnt remember this cause its been years since i played the last game but i immediatlily did it when i killed my first boss in Elden Ring in perfect muscle memory. lol

I hear you.
Today i have a bit of a sour feeling cause last night i was kinda sleepy and wasted a smithing stone trying to see if it was worthwile to upgrade another sword i found out.
I only had two out of the six i need for +3 and now im back to one... :/

Haha. True.
I do really like how the flasks replendish after killing a group of enemies. Thats really really helpfull.
Btw, i started exploring Stormhill last night and found my first Golden Seed. I think it increases the flasks number, right?

And on the other hand, was really enjoying being back on Bloodborne. I know Gascoigne was considered the skill check boss, but when I played it when it was first out, even the cleric beast caused me all kinds of problems. This time around, I beat it very comfortably, and now I can level up, I'd be more than happy to stick countless more hours into it.
I think maybe I'll spend the weekend on Bloodborne with Elden Ring during the week

Morning all
first off...Quake 2 Remastered available on Gamepass.
Hell yeah!!! I used to play this game over and over back in the day. Cant wait to go down the memory lane with this one.
Elden Ring day 7.
Reached level 34.
I´ve been exploring Stormhill area with my ocnfidence on high levels but i got completely obliterated when i tried to kill a boss in a circle area (surrounded by those catterpiller-like creatures made of balls).
This boss that resembles a licker from Resident Evil abused me over and over.
I just couldnt figure out any pattern in his attacks that allowed me a fair fight. Died 6 times and noped it.
In Stormhill i found the Colosseum, an NPC that sells Ashes of War, a Lady that sells spells i think ( cant remember well) and managed to kill most of the enemies there (apart from the Giants as i can only fight one at a time).
Im not sure where to go next...

You mean the bridge to all the way south in Limgrave?
I almost reached it the bridge to the east from Stormhill but went back when i realized i may be entering a new area (chickened...)

And those giants you mentioned, it's not a bad early game grinding spot. They are slow and predictable, plus you get 1000 runes for each. I often go back there to test out new weapons and, early on, would have went there if I was close to levelling up

I´ve been doing that with the Giant that jumps down in the Castle ruin´s Gate.
I dont know about the area with all those giants as im not sure who will be aggroed after i start a fight. One of them its enough to still puts me on edge.
My grinding course at this point is doing the ruins by the Castle gate, then kill the giant. I move then to the area down the road oposite the gate and kill the three mounted knights and the three big sword dudes with wolves in a small garrison.
The amount of runes i get from all this is still enought to get me a level up (i currently need 7500 aprox) so far.

I´ll try that tonight.
I haven been hooked like this to a game for a very long time.
Do you use Ashes of War?

I don't really use my shield in combat, just if I need to deflect projectiles. Don't use the spirits (whatever they are called) either. Occasionally I do summon my squad of fanged imps (the nasty claw critters from the catacombs) and turn them loose on a mob just for my own amusement. Evil.
Morning all. I've finally finished Death Stranding. In the end I've got to say the game has blown me away in many ways. The story I think is one of the best I've ever experienced in gaming - after the final boss there is probably a good two hours of cut-scenes with some minimal gameplay intertwined and it really does tie everything up in surprising and emotional ways. The story albeit trademark Kojima confusing I largely followed and I just loved how it ended, and the characters were great throughout. Really impactful. That's not to say the story didn't have pacing issues. And at the end I realised that I'd been on an epic adventure travelling around a massive map in beautiful landscapes (largely helped by fast travel being so costly and not really being a good option), lots of challenges getting from A to B and the mountains in the end I loved using the zip lines and catapults. And those moments when you have to either stealth or fight BTs were some of the most tense and nerve racking moments I've experienced in a game. Again, the campaign game play wise had pacing issues especially in the middle of the game but the overall experience was one of the best gaming adventures I've had. If I were to be critical it would probably be a 7/10 game with the obvious pacing issues and the map at times being very frustrating to navigate but the experience of the whole game was one of the best I've had and elevates it to at least a 9/10 for how much I actually enjoyed it. The game will live long in the memory which can't be said for a lot of games. And I'm excited for DS2 albeit nervy about fighting off those BTs again. And how can I nearly forget - also one of the best if not the best soundtrack in a game.

I loved Death Stranding, definitely has a few flaws but it was good stuff

I hope everyone is doing OK.
I have got back into gaming and kept things ticking along. Noticeable Pings! since I've been gone are...
WRC 10 (was struggling with this when I left but smashed the stage I thought I had an issue with by over 8 seconds)
WRC 9 - realised I'd bought the PS5 version when I bought it for PS4 a few years back
Life is Strange: True Colors - enjoyed a lot more than expected
Rachet & Clank: ARiT - good fun
Horizon FW - an improvement over Zero Dawn
My Friend is Pepper Pig - GotY stuff
It Takes Two - the best coop game ever and in my top 20 of all time. Absolutely brilliant.
Currently playing Quake 2. Nicely priced at £8 for both PS4/5 version. This is how to do a remaster.
Spent most of the rest of the weekend back in Elden Ring and made decent progress with my current character. Still tempted to continue a magic based character though
