DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Persona 5 Royal (PS5). Was inspired by Error to finish off the PS5 version. I'd only one palace left to do and forgot that the Royal version is a lot more straightforward to plat, so took less time than I was expecting. Think I'll move back to Persona 4 next since I'm still in the mood.

Hopefully, it'll keep me going until Diablo and away from doing something daft like pick up Streetfighter 6 at the end of the week....

Yea I’m still looking forward to AW2 but I might not buy it on release.

I’ve completed Jedi Survivor. Really enjoyed it. A definite improvement on the first game which in itself was decent. I liked the varied environments, the exploration (with fast travel) and combat. Characters were engaging. Probably one of my favourite games of the current generation. Only let down by poor performance and low resolution albeit with really great graphics and artwork otherwise. Probably a 9.5/10 on the r-score-o-meter but I’m knocking a point off due to the really poor performance so an 8.5/10 ;-).

I’ve started Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart. Probably played 2-3 hours. Really good so far. And ok it’s not as big scale wise as Jedi Survivor but the choices between Performance Ray Tracing, Performance and 120hz are really well implemented. No real massive hits to resolution like Jedi Survivor. A really crisp looking game whatever you choose.

Morning all

Fought my first boss in Atomic Heart.
The giant ball robot in a huge round garden.
After dying 6 or 7 times i turned it down to easy and kill it at the first try.
Either im too old for these quick moving bosses or the devs went a bit crazy with this one but before i let my irritation get the best of me i turned it down to easy.
Im still enjoying the game quite a bit and, so far, it still hasnt lost its charm.

Yea some of the boss fight Glass are tricky. I played it on easy too and it still had some difficultly spikes. Honestly those two upgrades I mentioned earlier make it a lot easier. I died a few times on the same boss fight as you and later on one or two other boss fights were even trickier. Then some are pretty straightforward - but all a lot easier with the upgrades I mentioned.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Atomic Heart has went from pick up cheap to maybe try if it's free on PS+. Sounds a bit more frustrating than I've currently the patience for

If I can do it, with my intolerance to frustration, it's not that tricky. That being said it does have it moments but not too bad. Defo worth it if ever on PS+ or picked up for cheap.

Dont get me wrong mate. The game is not easy but its no Dark Souls.
Im playing on normal (apart from the boss) and, with the upgrades im using, im not having a tough time.
I died several times in the boss i mentioned but, after starting to figure out his moves and turning it down to easy, i beat it in the first try and with no great effort.
I think its worth you try it out.

I checked my email and i have the hawing ocnfirmation and i vaguely remember reading about the game and thinking it was somewhat interesting.
This is what i call a stealth hawing if there ever was one... :/

Never heard of it.

One game I am looking forward to playing is Planet of Lana. It's lined up for me to play after Ratchet and Clank. In the style of Limbo and Inside and has received great reviews. Included on Games Pass.

You like the Lego games?
I´ve been playing them over the weekends when i just want a nice colorfull and innocent game to entertain me.
It turned into its own thing at the weekends to a point where i dont have all that much lego games left.
I just finished Lego Harry Potter and had a blast. Enormous games though. It took me 30ish hrs believe ir or not.

message 2711: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I played the Lego Batman, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones games with my boys when they were younger. It was nice to be able to share with them like that. Nice memories. I found found a lot of the puzzles to be needlessly complex when just playing them on my own. Maybe I'm just thick in the head.

Hey Deckard - I'm sixty some hours into Persona 5 now. I've identified my next target after recruiting the hacker. How much longer is the game at this point?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hate to say it but you are probably just over halfway in Persona 5 Error. You've definitely got a fair chunk left to do

message 2713: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Good to know Deck, thanks. That's what I was afraid of based my levels. You have to just fast forward everything at some point right? I was enjoying the day to day activities (for many, many hours) but managing relationships has become tedious. I might have to tackle this in two chunks with a sizeable Diablo IV break in between. What a massive, massive game.

I've played one Lego game: Lego Batman 2 - quite some time ago. I remember quite enjoying it but it's not a series that floats my boat to play another.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Not a fan of the Lego games myself. Played a couple of years ago, they were pretty much identical, and if you are a bit obsessive compulsive, trying to collect every block on each level, it gets old fast

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm gonna crack and pick up Streetfighter 6 to play alongside Diablo 4.

message 2717: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Everything I've read basically says Streetfighter 6 is the best fighting game ever, so why not?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Why not he says...For a start I've a million other games I could be getting on with, the days of me spending countless hours on a fighting game seem to be well behind me, and it's likely to be forgotten about once I get stuck into Diablo. But I liked what I played of the beta and do think it would break up marathon Diablo sessions, so yeah it has been hawed

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Spent a fair chunk of the weekend playing Diablo IV. Definitely a big improvement from 3. Managed to clear Act 1 but might spend a bit of time clearing strongholds and generally exploring before continuing. No complaints from me.

Played a wee bit of Street Fighter 6, and not many complaints about it either.

been playing PSVR2 all weekend, Resi 8 and Beat Sabre !! amazing

Error | 408 comments It was a long but fun weekend over in the states. My oldest graduated high school (secondary/grade 12) so there was a grad ceremony and various grad-related festivities throughout the weekend. Luckily, there was also plenty of time for Diablo IV. I rolled a rogue and made it mostly through Chapter 1. I also ventured off the beaten path and found myself in a new location which started up the events of Chapter 2 without having finished the first. It looks like you can go wherever you want on the map if you are strong enough for it. I thought that was a neat little wrinkle in the Diablo formula.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I went with a druid in Diablo IV. Wasn't convinced by the shape-shifting abilities in the beta, so went for a more elemental type and it feels a lot better. Once I hit Act 3, I started focusing on the story more because between all the side quests they throw at you and the dungeons, you'd be there forever. Still, overall it's a massive improvement over 3 for me

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished off the story in Diablo IV last night. Definitely enjoyed it and plan to stick with it a while yet. I reckon it'll be one that stays installed for a long time

message 2724: by BauerRAT (new)

BauerRAT Glad youre enjoying D4 Error (Congrats to your Oldest mate on their Graduation) and Decks

Not sure its for me , but i would like a look at it .

As Xbox name has been all over it i assumed it was Gamepass game, gutted to see it wasnt

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Gave the Lies of P demo a quick go. When I'd read it was a reimagining of the pinocchio story. I thought that sounds all kinds of dull, but then saw the word soulslike so gave it a go. And and souls clones go, it's not the worst I've seen, it's maybe gone from no interest to pick up cheap

I seen many folks online getting excited about the art direction. Did you find anything interesting in that Deckard?

I generally don't get to play games much during the business week, but I'll be digging back into Diablo over the next few days. Maybe I'll complete chapter 2 while Deckard gets the plat or something.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Reminded me a little of a mix between Bioshock and We Happy Few visually. Not sure it's anything we've not seen before but looked better than a lot of soulslike, nothing to rave about, but it does look pretty decent. And gameplay wise it felt pretty solid. I'll not be picking it up day one, but will definitely be tempted in a sale

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And there's a PVP trophy in Diablo IV, so I don't see me attempting the plat. Getting a hard-core character to lvl 50 as well looks tough, mostly because I've found the game to have a fair bit of lag the past few days. Don't want to attempt that one till its a bit smoother

Morning all. I had a week off work last week but I did manage to complete Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. It was really good. Really good graphics. Really good combat and a good mixture of worlds and environments to explore. I'm not sure I liked the spider bot and clank puzzle missions - seemed to pull me out of the fun worlds and combat but hey at least they added some variety. I was suprised how buggy it was though - missions not progressing because I couldn't kill all enemies as they were stuck in out of reach places where I couldn't kill them, or actually inside inaccessible buildings - I could see them popping through. And enemies getting stuck on the terrain out of sight which made it difficult to find them to progress to the next part of the mission. I liked the openness of it all. An 8.5/10 on the r-score-o-meter.

Oh and I got the platinum trophy ;-). Although one trophy was a pain to get - took me 90 mins to get ten kills in a special way which was really annoying.

I've started Planet of Lana on Games Pass. Very much a Limbo/Inside game and very very good - great graphics, atmosphere, artwork and nice but relaxing puzzles. And really chilled music. Every bit as good as Limbo/Inside so far. And I love the alien invasion theme - it's really well done.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Congrats on the plat R. Quite liked Rift Apart myself.

I've started a new character in Diablo IV, plan to take my time with this one. Only started Act 2 but already my necromancer is a higher level than my druid finished the game at.

I’m not sure what to play after Planet of Lana, seeing as it’s just a short game. Nothing really on my backlog which is AAA and new, nor anything much I’m excited to play on ps plus extra and games pass. I am wondering about giving Death Stranding a go but it really doesn’t look my thing game play wise and it’s a long campaign for a walking sim but I do like Kojima’s craziness. I loved MGS 4 and 5.

congrats on the plat , its one of my few plats, i really enjoyed the game.

Death Stranding is such a weird game, i played 40+ hours and I still couldnt tell you if i liked it or not. Its certainly nothing like a MGS game. Apart from the weirdness. It took a good 15 hours before i got even close to getting the hook

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I loved Death Stranding, and I found it to get very Metal Gear'ish towards the end gameplay wise. There are definitely a few similarities between it and MGS V, but does take a while to get going. Does require a bit of commitment, though

It's weird tho R, its a kind of theraputic loop and even though i cant say i liked the game and i did literally ask myself why i was playing it ..... i kept playing it and finshed it . Strangely I’ve enjoyed a few walking sims in the past but they’ve only been a few hours long. 40 plus hours definitely wouldn’t have suited the walking sims I’ve played.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Take that back R....calling it a walking sim is like calling Andromeda a Mass Effect.

Technically you could call it part walking sim I suppose, but you'd have to sue all other walking sims for misrepresenting their products. In fact, I'll happily sue the makers of Everybody's gone to the rapture, I might not be able to get the time wasted on looking for glowing orbs back but they should definitely have compensate me for even attempting that rubbish ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished Act 2 with my necromancer in D4 mostly, a couple of dungeons left before im on to the larger 3rd area. Lvl 52 now, so who knows what lvl I'll finish at

yeah its not a walking sim at all, albeit you walk alot , but there are also a lot of gameplay mechanics to contend with too, including through grenades full of your own piss and poo at Ghosts ... got to love Kojima

i really liked firewatch

I dont mind a walking sim if its got a great story

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I don't know whether it was free at some point, but I do own Firewatch. I think I'd even installed it at one point before coming to my senses and deleted it before even loading it up

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm going to take a break from Diablo IV for a few days. Not sure what's taking it's place but leaning towards going back to Elite Dangerous for some reason

message 2747: by BauerRAT (new)

BauerRAT You not enjoying it Deck?

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's not been out long, but I've stuck 85 hours into it already, so I think I'm probably enjoying it ;)

I will say the dungeons are a bit too samey and can feel a bit of a slog once you are past lvl 50. I've no other real complaints about it and will likely play it on and off for the foreseeable future.

Definitely a big improvement over 3 but it's not replacing Diablo 2 for me

I'm interested in Starfield. The recent Xbox Showcase presented a lot more and it looked good. Seems to offer a hell of a lot more than No Man's Sky - more RPG elements, combat which looks decent, conversations, story, locations which are not procedurally generated. The only things that seem common are the procedural generation of some but not all of the planets, resource gathering and space travel and maybe combat (but combat looks a lot deeper in Starfield). There are procedurally generated worlds but there are also crafted worlds too with a hand crafted cities to carry forward a story with NPGs and dialogue. Starfield seems a lot broader and deeper than No Man's Sky.
