Hi all. Hope you had a good weekend. Glad to hear you're enjoying A Plague Tale Equinox - the sequel is even better if and when you get around to it.

For me I finally completed the campaign of GoW Ragnarok. Lots of boss battles in the last chapter or two. And meh they were OK. The ending felt like a bit of a grind to me. I was kinda expecting an epic boss battle where you climb on a massive boss and work your way around defeating him on an epic scale - but no, just grinding down health bar after health bar in closed arenas for what seemed like several back-to-back boss fights. And then a final part to wrap everything up that made me cringe but I won't spoil it if you haven't played the game yet. Overall Ragnarok either didn't float my boat and/or I wasn't in the mood for it for like the past several weeks. And considering I loved the first one so much I'm surprised. 8/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Not sure I'd play another GoW game unless they revamp it a bit for PS5. I've not started anything else yet. I'll probably continue with High on Life and then I think it's either TLOU Pt 1 or Biomutant.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Elden Ring seems to have dug it's hairy two fingers into me again (erm probably should have stuck with claws there). Spent most of the weekend on it, well apart from Sunday.... It was one of those days where every daft death you could think of, happened. Got off to a great start when I mixed up the jump and roll buttons and rolled off a cliff, and literally went downhill from there. Weirdly I had no problems with enemies I'd previously struggled with, yet managed to die against weaklings that dying against could be considered kind of impressive. I've a feeling Elden Ring is going to take up a fair amount of my gaming time again this year

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And in yet another mood swing...I decided to leave Elden Ring until the weekend and mostly played DBZ Kakarot instead

I played another chapter of APT before watching the first episode of TLOU.

Anyone else watched this? I thought it was pretty good but feel it will really start in episode 2.

Not yet but I will once they're all available. I plan to binge watch all in one month - I'll sub just for one month solely to watch TLOU.

hancock by Sega™ | 8 comments I haven’t seen TLOU yet, but we plan to start watching it sometime soon, While I understand the approach of bingeing a show all at once, sometimes it’s better to watch an episode or two at a time. It lets what happened settle a little bit more in your mind… it also allows some time to maybe rewatch an episode (to see what you might have missed) and have some anticipation for the next episode(s).

When HotD finally premiered last summer (there wasn’t going to be any waiting for 3 months to binge that show), the kids and I would have a reason to get together every Sunday evening, have some dinner, and then watch the latest episode. Essentially, HotD gave us an excuse to do this ritual for 2½ months as a family, and that was more than worth the price of admission (the sub)!

I much prefer to binge watch as then it's all fresh in my memory and sometimes an episode doesn't progress the story much and watching two-three episodes back-to-back feels more worthwhile and engaging. When I say binge watch - TLOU is nine episodes and I'll probably watch it over 3-4 nights. I recently watched Severance over three nights and loved it. Totally absorbed by it for those three nights. In the evening I'd only be watching TV/Movie/Youtube anyway so to binge a show over a few nights for me I enjoy my evening viewing more.

If anyone wants any recommendations I highly recommend 1899 on Netflix (Dark on Netflix by the same people is even better and one of the best TV shows of all time IMO) and Severance on Apple TV. I recently watched Invasion on Apple TV which I read before watching wasn't that great but I really enjoyed it. One other show which I really enjoyed, which is currently on Disney plus, is Devs - superb show.

BTW - I've got free subs to Disney+ (missus got a free sub for a year with a new phone) and Apple TV+ (free 3 months sub with game pass ultimate). I don't subscribe to everything :-).

hancock by Sega™ | 8 comments We didn’t know about Breaking Bad when it first came out and by the time that we did, it was a few seasons into the series. After watching one episode, we started bingeing that show 3-4 episodes in a row, and actually found it hard to stop and say enough is enough each time.

Hence the word ‘bingeing’, I guess. Lol.

I don't know about you Hancock but in the evenings especially in winter I'm pretty sedentary. By default I binge watch in the evenings :-) .

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments More DBZ for me, I'll probably stick with it now and get the 2nd plat. Will probably pick up Persona 3 & 4 that have appeared on the store too

AlienGirl54 | 46 comments Morning all. I know my attendance on here is a bit on the sporadic side, but work is really busy now and that's when I mostly post.

Finished Ragnarok. I too think it's better than the first game but yes, those sigil arrow puzzles were a damn nuisance. I watched endless youtube vids just to get one of them done!

Now playing Valhalla. Probably till the end of time ....

message 2262: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been carrying on with A Plague Tale. Still enjoying it despite a couple of annoying game mechanics being introduced late on in the game. Also did a boss fight that wasn't exactly up to the quality of the rest of the game but not too bad once I'd worked out what to do.

On the last mission now so should hopefully finish it tonight. I'm quite looking forward to the plat mop up but might squeeze in a shorter game in before doing that to break things up a bit.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Gran Turismo 7 seems to be getting a free PSVR2 upgrade when it releases. There's 2 games ;) Not sure I can stomach a 3rd No Man's Sky play (unless it has a third plat ;) )

More DBZ Kakarot, didn't do much story wise but knocked off a few misc trophies I'd mopped up post game in the PS4 version, so will have less to do then.

Now tempted by Monster Hunter Rise...

message 2264: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all

Deck, maybe the PSVR2 No Mans Sky will have the option of autopopping the trophies like the PS5 version with a PS4 save file. Not that I'd encourage such a cynical tactic for obtaining plats of course.

I finished A Plague Tale last night. There was another mildly frustrating bit where the game controls don't work quite as well as is required and the last boss was a pain (although some of that was me).

However, overall I've enjoyed it and will definitely get to the sequel at some point. I nearly binned it off very early before I'd unlocked a trophy but so glad I stuck with it.

The last boss in A Plague Tale Innocence is a pain. It took me multiple attempts. The second game doesn't have any frustrating moments really, and honestly it's a much better game and the first game is pretty good.

So I've bought a game in the PS Store January Sale. Thought I'd go for Sackboy A Big Adventure at £25. I've been keeping an eye on prices for such an old game but it's kinda sticky high so £25 seemed pretty good. I've played all the previous Little Big Planet games (even the Vita one) and really enjoyed them and I've read Sackboy is pretty good too. My backlog is growing: High on Life, Sackboy, TLOU Pt 1, possible play of Biomutant and Atomic Heart is out soon too. Defo finishing High on Life first then it's either TLOU pt1 or Sackboy.

message 2266: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah it was just that final wave of the last boss. It was OK until then but I kept getting trapped on the 3rd wave or I thought I'd done it only for a swarm of rats come from behind as I was standing in the wrong place. Thankfully I won't have to do it again as part of the plat mop up.

I wish I'd got TLOU Pt 1 in my backlog. I really fancy it atm. Trophy wise it's a lot nicer than the PS3 and PS4 remaster versions too :)

Yea I won't be platting it ;-). I'm not not much of a trophy hunter. Unless I unexpectedly unlock most of them and then if the plat doesn't take too much additional effort. Probably unlikely. I think I'm two or three trophies off platting Far Cry Primal - by default - but worked out getting the remaining trophies would take many hours of grinding so not for me.

message 2268: by AlienGirl54 (new)

AlienGirl54 | 46 comments Far Cry Primal was my first ever plat!

I think my first ever plat (and I've only got 7) is Killzone 3 multiplayer. Achieved by default :-). How I miss Killzone multiplayer :-). Give me KZ MP over Horizon any time.

message 2270: by [deleted user] (new)

Uncharted 2 was my first plat. Nearly 12 years ago which is frightening.

message 2271: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all. I decided to crack straight on with my trophy mop up of A Plague Tale.

I'd planned to play a few smaller games before doing it to break things up but I'm enjoying going through the game again. I've got a couple of the trickier level specific trophies coming up but I don't think they're too bad. Especially with the excellent YT guides I'm using.

Morning all. Hope you had a good weekend. Lots of gaming for me at the weekend. More High on Life and just getting into the latter half of the game. It's good fun and I'm enjoying it a lot more but felt the itch of new games. Also started Sackboy and nearly through two worlds. Really enjoying it, it's typically LBP fun with a few more 3D levels. And I've made the cardinal sin of gaming and have a third game on the go at the same time. Also started TLOU pt1 and just got through the Capitol building. Absolutely loving playing through TLOU again. It looks amazing and everything about it pulls you right into the world - the environments, the characters, the story, the atmosphere and it feels like an amazing journey. I've forgotten a lot about the game - the details and missions - having last played it back on PS3 but completely re-hooked on it. So the way I see it LBP is just a bit of fun for a couple of levels every now and again, and High on Life a bounty at a time and TLOU pt1 my main game. So I think having three games on the go should be OK ;-).

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Dragon Ball Z Kakarot PS5. Enjoyed playing it again, yeah some of the fights can be a little irritating and for the type of game it's pretty lengthy (think for the ping I passed the 50 hour mark) but generally it's pretty well done.

Can't remember what my first plat was, likely The Walking Dead or something like that. Seem to remember a lot of my early pings being TellTale games, where there no effort was required. Think I've said this before but only really started taking an interest in platting games after managing the Nioh one.

No idea what's next now, probably should have put a bit more thought into that while mopping up DBZ

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Stuck a good few hours into Monster Hunter Rise, but MH games tend to the type that if you aren't 100% in the mood for, they can be a bit of a slog. Don't think it'll be my main game at the minute, might just do a hunt or two here and there. Think I might get stuck into Persona 3 instead.

On the fence at the minute about picking up Dead Space day one. I've 20 quid from PS Stars rewards burning a hole, and hope it does well to encourage EA to not take a half assed approach to its franchises (cough....andromeda...cough). But I'm still a bit wary at the minute

message 2275: by [deleted user] (new)

How have you got £20 from PS Stars? I'm still on level 1 with 216 points. I don't really understand how it works.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It seems to be mostly geared towards those who buy a lot of games. The majority of points I've built up are from purchases. If i was depending on the other ways of earning, it would take a lifetime. They really could do with having more daily and weekly rewards to make it worthwhile to everyone. If you do buy a lot of games, it's not so bad. This will be the 2nd £20 I've got from them

message 2277: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah OK, makes sense. I don't really buy anything off the store unless it's on sale. Now I've got PS+ Extra I'm even less inclined to buy anything.

message 2278: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
PS Stars is pretty tight. I can earn £11 per month on MS Points without buying anything. I'm level 3 on PS Stars but only because I've spent some money on games on the PS Store. Earned £5 so far.

message 2279: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought they were meant to be linking it to trophies in which case I should have accrued at least £10 for my Grid plat.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It says something like - the main way to earn points is through their campaigns and ps+ subscribers can also earn points through purchases...more like the other way around. When their campaigns are worth 50 at the most and are very infrequent but you get hundreds for game purchases, you have to think they've got it backwards.

Don't really know why they mentioned trophies to begin with, they seem to have little/nothing to do with it

message 2281: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe they're waiting until their policy on shovelware plats is tightened up? Wouldn't make much sense to reward people who knock out these sub £1, 30 second plats in the same way someone earning proper plats I guess. It was odd they mentioned it and then didn't really follow up.

I did another level on A Plague Tale last night and got the second of the two upgrading trophies so just one level specific trophy left which could be awkward, stepping inside the 5 alchemist carts (the last of which I should find tonight) and grabbing about 4 more collectibles.

I think I'll miss this game when I've done with it.

Hi you haws!

hope everyone is doing great.

Been playing Chernobylite on the PS5.
So far its interesting and actually very relaxing tbh.
I spend a huge amount of time just wandering around and looting stuff. Really good stuff.
Im still at the very beginning so i cant say much about the rest of the game.
The visuals are pretty though.

Oh...and im also playing Rage on the X. Cant believe i bought that game at launch and im only playing it like 10 years later...

message 2283: by [deleted user] (new)

I loved Rage. One of the most under appreciated games of the PS360 gen.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I remember enjoying it well enough at the time, but tried replaying Rage a while back and didn't think it had aged too well, felt very clunky. I was streaming the PS3 version though, so that probably contributed a bit

message 2285: by [deleted user] (new)

I replayed it about 2-3 years on the PS3 having originally played it on release on my 360.

I thought the gameplay still held up but the texture pop in was very noticable. Didn't bother me but I bet you don't get that playing on an X.

Annoyingly there were a couple of 5 finger fillet style trophies which stopped me getting the plat and 1000G.

hancock by Sega™ | 8 comments Posting this here for any XBox owners (I don’t have an XBox but crazily enough, might actually consider getting one just for this). Tomorrow on GamePass, they’re releasing the full version of Goldeneye. I guess it’s also releasing on the Switch, as well.

message 2287: by [deleted user] (new)

I played a lot of Goldeneye back in the day but I bet its aged terribly. If it was on PlayStation it'd be hard to ignore it but I'm kind of glad it's not as I'd probably end up wishing I'd left it in the past.

It is nice to see MS and Nintendo finally do some kind of deal though. Only taken them a quarter of a century 😄

Ping! A Plague Tale: Innocence

It didn't take me anywhere near as long to finish this up last night as I thought it would. Even after stupidly taking a slightly longer than necessary route.

A very good game and I look forward to the sequel at some point. 8/10.

Not sure what I'll play next. I've got a few short, walking sim style games lined up but Guardians of the Galaxy is tempting me.

Fair point I guess although I for one am particularly partial to retro games… and also never got to play GoldenEye for more than a few minutes back in the day. We’ll see what happens as another problem to the equation is that the S is on sale right now for $240. Damn that Dam!

message 2290: by [deleted user] (new)

I still have it on my N64 with the limited edition golden controller so I can play it it's original 12fps glory ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Is this the N64 Goldeneye or the later one?

I've rage quit Monster Hunter Rise. Definitely one you need to be in the mood for. otherwise the unresponsive controls have you pulling your hair out. Lost count of how many times I've pressed the use item button only for nothing to happen. Still, overall think it's better than MH World

message 2292: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a re-release of the original N64 not that weird one from several years ago where they used Daniel Craig's likeness.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I've a lot of good memories of the N64 game. I've a feeling that it's probably one that will have aged better than most

message 2294: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm not so sure. Just thinking about that escort mission with Natalya is bringing me out in a cold sweat.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Unsurprisingly, I've cracked and pre-ordered Dead Space and now looking forward to reboardingthe USG Ishimura. Don't quite understand the reasoning behind their launch times though. Why does a game that doesn't have an online need to be launched at 16.00? Surely if I'd picked up the physical version I could be playing it long before that. Seems a little pointless

On the X it urns at 60 fps so it flows very well tbh.
ITs a cool game. I could have gone without the racing stuff but its a good game.
