DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Can't say I was a fan of New Vegas. Liked some of the gameplay mechanics they added but the setting didn't quite do it for me.

So nearly completed all the Alan Wake DLC. I forgot how clever The Writer DLC was what with rotating buildings and environments - only got 30 mins to go then I'm done. It's been great to revisit it though and defo still one of my favourite games of all time.

So I'm actually starting to struggle with games I want to play. I've got the Metro Exodus DLC campaigns to complete but other than that my wishlist is looking pretty sparse. Not much coming out of over the next couple of months either for me. So I guess it could be a return to Mass Effect Legendary Edition - Mass Effect 2 maybe - not sure. I still have AC Valhalla to complete but I kinda binned that off - after 30 hours I was tired of it and not even half way through the campaign even though I focussed on it.

Yea 30fps - I can't do it anymore. Going back is not pleasant.

Out of interest - maybe, maybe not. I keep a list of unplayed games I own/on-games-pass that I'd like to play and a list of wishlist games. Not sure if anyone else does this? It's what I use to replace the backlog - as in, not to buy games before I'm ready to play them.

Backlog:
Alan Wake DLC
Mass Effect Remastered (2, 3)
Metro Exodus Sam's Story
Lost in Random

Unfinished (maybe never finished):
Destroy All Humans
Assassins Creed Valhalla

Wishlist:
Stalker 2
Somerville
Stray
Atomic Heart
A Plague Tale: Requiem
Starfield
Scorn
Redfall
The Callisto Protocol
Dead Space Remake
Forza Motorsport
Resident Evil 4 Remake
Resident Evil VIII
GoW Ragnorok

Yeah I do this although it's all in my head these days so a lot of it gets forgotten.

Play Halo Infinite but weirdly this open world stuff just feels wrong ...

Is COD MW2 a remake? Thought it was a sequel to the 2018 MW?

message 1710: by [deleted user] (new)

It's both. The 2019 game was meant to be a remake of COD4:MW so I guess years game is a sequel to the 2019 game but also a remake of 2009's MW2.

I think anyway.

So it's two games in one? Not sure I follow - hold on I google it :-).

Looks like a direct sequel to MW 2019 to me.

message 1712: by [deleted user] (new)

It is a direct sequel to the 2019 game, which itself was a remake of the original MW game.

message 1713: by R(ob) (new)

R(ob) (r_uk) | 886 comments Mod
The 2019 game has a different campaign to the 2007 campaign. So related but not a remake. Same characters but not the same campaign.

message 1714: by [deleted user] (new)

But doesn't that make it a remake rather than a remaster then? Either way it's definitely a direct sequel to the 2019 game which was great and why I'm hyped for this year's game.

Morning everyone.

We all got the bug here in the house.
All 4 of us. :(

Felt really sick yesterday without knowing what it was. I thought it was my alergies and all but i felt so down and sleepy that i didnt even wanted to play Fallout 4 in the couch, which is really telling.
Made the test and voilá.
And since its near 40º here in Portugal its a hell of a feeling to be feversish while its hot as hell.

Anyway, hope it doenst get worse for anyone.

Im buying Elden Ring after this. :P

Hope you feel better soon Glass. If you experience it anything like me, if you've had three jabs, and it's most likely the omicron variant (not as severe as Delta) then it'll hopefully be a mild cold/flu for a week.

For me over the weekend I looked at Game Pass and decided to give 'The Gunk' a go. I've been mildly interested in it before - but looked like a one trick pony with the gunk vacuum. Anyway, turns out it's a little gem. Great graphics and artwork, environments, varied game play (it's not all about the gunk), good varied levels and really chilled out environmental puzzle, platforming and action adventure with great music. Really really good chilled out relaxing fun.

The PS5 is slowly but surely getting more obtainable. BT store had it in stock no problem when I had a glance the other day.
The Series X seems quite easy to buy now. Even Amazon have that in stock!

I won't be getting a PS5 until they release the 'slim'....I reckon Nov 2023? The only actual PS5 games I have my eyes on are Ghost of Tsushima directors cut and Resident Evil Village. Everything else I play on it will be my PS4 backlog!!

I'm more inclined too to get a PS5 slim. Not sure when they'll be out though as it seems chip supply is still greatly constrained. I would anticpate (based on previous generations) next year but perhaps they might be later due to chip shortages. I really don't like the appearance of the PS5, well more the size of it, so defo prefer a PS5 slim assuming they do actually slim it down rather than just cost reduce it.

I don't think they'll be any Pro consoles though this gen, although I could be wrong - PS4 Pro and XBox One X were more to do with the high adoption rate of 4k TVs more than anything else and to take advantage of them. And 8K TVs haven't really taken off as yet so I can't see Pro consoles happening myself for Series X and PS5. And I wouldn't buy them if they do. PS4 and One X were great for my 4k TV but a PS5 pro wouldn't give me much more than a boost in performance and probably a few graphical bells and whistles.

Quiet around here recently. I forgot to mention that I watched the Uncharted movie at the weekend. It was enjoyable and watchable for sure. I liked the way they solved the environmental puzzle with the keys - that was a good representation of what might happen in the game. Some of the environments were like the game. And OK Uncharted the game is OTT with plane and car action/chasing sequences being unbelievable and in the movie it was very much completely OTT too. I just didn't like the actors playing Nate and Sully and their characters were a little off compared to the games - Nate needed to be older for me. And Nate was very knowledgeable but very naive (immature) at the same time. And Sully was almost borderline unlikeable as a person except more towards the end of the movie. And the story moved a bit way too fast for my liking - I would have preferred they grounded the characters a bit more - they seemed to be thrown at you, and then the movie moved at a wild pace. Decent enough Movie for what it is - 7/10 on the R-Score-O-Meter in its own right, but 5/10 for realising the game characters and story in a Movie.

Actually I think they did Chloe really well - best character in the movie compared to the game.

Hi Everyone

Been feeling better/worse/better with the covid in the last days.

But i feel a lot better today and hopefully will remain like this.

Im still playing Dying Light 2.
Im currently 65 hrs into and i still have two areas of the map unexplored. Both for levels 5-6 and im currently level 6 so im not overpowered enouhg to fo there yet. lol.
I´ve been playing this one for over a month now.

Ron | 78 comments I'm REplaying (which i rarely ever do) Asura's Wrath. I played it back in the day on ps3 and was very annoyed at Capcom for the DLC nonsense. But...since they seem to have improved I can live with paying £2.99 for the game and £2.25 for the DLC to play the true ending. I do still think there should be a complete edition or some such. God damn it's a fun game. Angry man punches everything: the game. It does get repetitive in parts but then you end up punching a hole through the earth or some other mad shit.

message 1725: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Ahh, Asura's Wrath...thank you for the reminder. I will eventually pick that up and throw it on the backlog. Sounds just ridiculous enough to be a must-play.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Picked up Vermintide 2 while it was cheap and.... was pleasantly surprised. I've played quite a few Warhammer games and often they lack polish but it seems to be a cut above the others I've played. The Left4Dead type format suits it well though I do get the feeling it'll become a bit of a slog after a while. Lost a bit of enthusiasm after one mission where one of the AI bots got stuck early on and the other 2 got stuck just before the boss fight, so was left fighting alone but apart from that, it's been fun.

Also played a bit more Disgaea 6, Diablo 2 and Akiba's Trip last week.

I loved Asura's Wrath, I'd started to replay it on PS Now a while back but the streaming wasn't great even with half decent internet

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And I despise this warm weather, can we get Asura to blow up the sun while he's at it?

Morning all. 40 degree heat in England lol. Over the weekend I completed The Gunk. A really good game. And it kept on getting more and more varied in the environments. Really enjoyed it - for me an 8/10. Great artwork and environments, good but never head scratching environmental puzzles, good characters and not bad story. And nicely chilled out. I was one achievement off getting them all - but it looks like that I've missed my opportunity to get that last achievement now. And no new game+. Next I guess Metro Exodus Sam's Story DLC.

message 1729: by [deleted user] (new)

Morning all. I played a little bit of Wolfenstein, just picking up the last few health and weapon upgrades for when I have a crack at the Uber difficulty run. Going to shelve that for a little bit though.

Made a start on Wonderlands and like the little bit I was able to play. Didn't play too long as my PS4 sounded like it may take off. It gets quite hot anyway but didn't want to push it too hard in this ridiculous heat.

I've picked the Sporen class and like the abilities that class has. Looking forward to unlocking my mushroom companion in a few levels time.

I read something earlier today about the 'plates' on the ps5 resembling a collar that's folded up. Spot-on. I don't like the appearance of the ps5 either, but there are some aftermarket plates that make it look ALOT better and help cooling by having vents for the fans.

dbrand Darkplates 2.0 & innoAura PS5 Face Plates - both massively better than the originals, and would be the first thing I would buy if I got a ps5 now (assuming they're compatible with the ps5 sitting horizontal?)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Maybe I'm just weird but when I'm gaming I tend to look at the screen rather than the console ;)

I'm not bothered about what the PS5 looks like, I think it looks OK alhough it's not a very practical design because it can't lay on its side without a seperate support to make sure it doesn't wobble - never understood why Sony would think this is a good idea. My main issue is the size of thing. It wouldn't fit in my TV cabinet.

message 1733: by [deleted user] (new)

"Maybe I'm just weird but when I'm gaming I tend to look at the screen rather than the console ;)"

Ha me too although I would prefer if the PS5 was smaller and a more uniform shape.

I may as well wait for the slim version now which can hopefully lay on its side without a stand.

A bit more Wonderlands last night. Well about 30 nins worth again before my PS4 sounded ridiculously loud.

Error | 408 comments For some reason I created a new character for Outriders and played halfway through the campaign again. I do like the gun play and skills a lot in that game. I thought it was a one and done, but I guess I'll keep it around.

Covid has finally caught up with me. Not feeling too bad atm, just an annoying cough and runny nose.

Thankfully the cooler weather is here now. Its what I'd at one time referred to as a hot day but will forever now be relatively cool compared to the oven temperatures of the last few days.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Played a wee bit of Stray yesterday. Wasn't sure if it would be my type of game but it's not a bad change of pace. Not much to it so far but doesn't sound like its a long game so might stick with it

I really like the look of Stray. I like a good atmospheric environmental puzzle game - almost looks like a 3D Inside kinda. I suppose I could play it on PS4 but want to wait - can't go back to 30fps. It might be a timed exclusive too so might be on xbox in 6 months-year.

Hope you feel better soon John. I don't think covid for the vast majority is that bad now unless you have other more serious medical conditions.

So glad it's cooler today. Fans everywhere in the house lol at the moment.

Morning everyone.

I think im fully recovered from Cov at this point.
Overall i didnt have a particulary bad time with it. Only a couple of days where i felt really tired.
A piece of advise to everyone: never EVER play Dying Light 2 while having high fevers. It will make you sick to the core of your soul. lol.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I don't think you'd find much to complain about with Stray, R from what I've played. So far nothing too stressful but plenty of atmosphere and has a fair amount of charm to it, a little creepy at times too

Sounds like my type of chill out game. I really like these short environmental puzzle games with good graphics and artwork. Played some good ones recently (Omno, The Gunk). Limbo and Inside are my favourites though at the mo - though I'm really looking forward to Somerville.

I think there is a new FPS out soon july 21st (think it's on games pass too) called Bright Memory:Infinite. So looks like that'll be my next game. Kept my eye on it for a while now.

message 1741: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Hello everyone, sorry to hear of miserable heat and widespread COVID. I can at least empathize with the heat. It was 35-38C here for the past several days in a row. I purchased a portable AC unit for the first time this summer. After all the time of setup the thing stopped putting out cool air and started making loud buzzing after an hour of use. Don't buy AC online folks. It's a giant hassle.

Stray has been getting fantastic reviews. I would love to play it eventually, so I hope it goes multiplat. I could also see Sony attempting to scoop up the dev since they have a bonafide hit on their hands.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished off Stray. Not a very long game (about 5 hours not rushing) but enjoyed it more than I expected. They could have done a bit more with the end in terms of both story and gameplay but apart from that, no complaints. Not going to attempt the plat at the minute, it has a speedrun trophy and I hate those. Rather take my time and not be forced into hurrying.

Glassmoon - The Benny Hill of Plats | 779 comments Mod
Hi everyone

Stray is that new cat game right?
Is it an rpg or something?

Im currently 72 hrs into Dying Light 2.
I realyl want to finish it now as im playing it for way too long but i keep finding new side quests and get distracted by the world.

I think its definitly a better game then DL1. Its very very diferent also but thats how you make a good sequel, imo.
You improve on almost everything, increase the scale of the game and make it feel somehow diferent but linked to the first one.

message 1744: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah I hate speed run trophies too. They're why I've never played the PS4 remasters of the Uncharted games.

Had a look through the PSN Sumner sale but not much catching my eye. art of rally is a maybe but I'm not sure.

message 1745: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments The most interesting way I've seen Stray described calls it a modern evolution of the classic quirky point-and-click adventures (think Lucas Arts). The main new trick being that instead of a cursor you have a very lifelike kitteh that can fully interact with the game world and do cat things like cause mayhem, nap, and meow. Also - environmental and traversal puzzles.

That's the description that sold me anyway.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments There's no rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle though.

I'd find it tough to describe Stray, in some ways it reminds me of A Plague Tale, only infinitely less boring and with a lot more charm. A wee bit of stealth and light puzzles with occasions of combat and a bit of exploration. It's not too heavy weighted in any department but more of a light mix of different genres
