I really think Sony are milking TLOU now with this remake. The first game out only 9 years ago and has had a remaster in the intervening years. It's a classic no doubt but time to move on.

Yea I don’t disagree at all. It’s not needed especially after remastering it for PS4. I think if they sold the PS5 version for a more reasonable price I’d be more ok with it. Still it’s a good game and I haven’t played it since PS3 so I’d like to play it again. And I loved TLOU2 so would like to play that again on PS5 at 60fps.
Yeah I had a look at what was offered in the PS+ tiers this morning and it's a no from me. Not enough I don't already own that interests me and for the price it really doesn't look worth it.Re: the new TLoU 1 remaster - Had a bit of a chuckle at the PS store synopsis - says something like - remains faithful to the original while updating with modern gameplay mechanics...… are Naughty Dog capable of modern gameplay mechanics? ;) I tried replaying Uncharted 4 when the PS5 upgrade was released and even it felt really dated gameplay wise and it's not that old. It'll look good but that's about it.
I can partly understand them remastering it again though, mostly because I felt the PS4 version was pretty half-assed. That one felt like a cheap effort and purely a money grab (though to be fair most fall into this category, there are probably more examples of half-assed ones than good ones in general). Built from the ground up will probably suit it better
And I picked up Fracked for PSVR while it's cheaper and think I'd read it's been optimized for PS5, so went to give it a go and..... PS Move controllers dead and can't find the charging cables.....
I laughed at the term 'modern game mechanics' too. How long does it need to be until a game isn't modern anymore?
In my mind the original TLOU is still a modern game and therefore has modern mechanics. How much are they going to change it?

My only fear is that they change the story to make it more close to Tlou 2 and take out the focus on Joel and Ellie.
I truly dont see the need for a remake other then to milk money and keep ND relevant in the gaming scene.
In fact, i kinda feel the same way with most remakes because its an easy way to put out a product and rely on past criativty instead of risking something new.
Dead Space is another remake that i have nearly zero interest in.
I love the original and finished it 4 or 5 times already.
Why will i replay the same game again just because it has better graphics? If its like 20 bucks ok but i wont pay full price for it in a million years.
Resi 2 Remake was good because it changed the perspective in which we play, it changed a lot of things to a point it was an actual new game.
Dead Space, Tlou 1 and other like them are taking out space that coult be used to create brand new games, imo.
I generally don't mind remakes and remasters but this one seems completely unnecessary. I really don't think they'll change the story, it will just be the same with maybe Ellie's AI improved so she hides from enemies better than in the original. Other than that and an improvement in visuals (which the remaster already did), I can't see there's much else that needs to be changed.
Sony seemed to be more open to risks, TLOU itself being a new IP and therefore a risk. If stuff like this becomes their focus over innovation, ie what made them so successful last gen, I worry for them.

Both were amazing games and its a shame they are in the limbo of time.

Although I'm getting near the end of Nobody Saves the World, I'm getting a little tired of it as well. It's one of those games that the enemy level increases as your own does, so even though it's not the most difficult of games (mostly) it's wearing me down. Might take a break from it and play some VR games over the weekend.Also finished off Absolute Drift. Not going to try to plat, looks tricky even without a dodgy controller.
And think I've given up on the idea of a PS4 Forbidden West playthrough. Other games I've not had a problem adjusting to lower framerates from PS5 to PS4 but for some reason I'm finding it hard to watch. IMO it looks awful in motion compared to the PS5 version.
And had a second look at the PS+ tiers, to see if it was worth paying a few quid to upgrade to the end of my current sub as a trial. But no, only a few games that I'd be mildly interested in that I don't own (and one of those is Lawnmower Sim lol), so not worth it for me. If they'd included a few more PSVR games I might have been more interested

Had a bit of an unusual gaming weekend. Since I'd roughly 6 months left on my current PS+ sub, I changed my mind and decided I'd probably would get my moneys worth if I'd paid the extra 20 odd quid to upgrade to the top tier. Lots of games I'd never buy so what did I end up playing? Mahjong, Tetris, Dangerous Golf and Lawn Mowing Sim among others. Not exactly setting the world on fire but have to say I've probably got my moneys worth on Lawn Mowing Sim alone, it's weirdly addictive. Doubt I'll resubscribe to the top tier once it expires, can't see Sony being generous with additions but can't complain much

I hate gardening, I'll put off doing it as much as is humanly possible....yet I don't seem to have a problem putting a daft amount of hours into Lawn Mowing Simulator.....I'll find myself thinking I really need to move on to something else, hours later I'm still cutting away

Reached the 50 hr mark in Dying Light 2 and i dont think im even mid game.
Its a great game. One can get lost in that world for hrs and hrs.
Theres this paraglider that everyone talks about that its a great adition to the game and i only got it yesterday...50 hrs into.
Either i really play at a slow pace or the game is huge.
Finally finished Control. The last chapter was quite the head trip. Great game, thoroughly enjoyed it. 8.5/10 After that I just played a bit of Destiny 2 for a change of pace.
More Lawn Mowing and some Everybody's Golf (PS1 version) thrown in. Doesn't get much more exciting than that!.....Half tempted to crack and pick up Elex 2 but then I don't think I ever got around to finishing the first one, so should probably do that first.
I was seriously considering attempting the Lawn Mowing Sim plat but one innocuous sounding trophy has put me off completely. Use an American made mower on the 4th July doesn't sound like it would cause any issues....but the game starts in a year that the 4th falls on a Sunday, which of course your company doesn't work on....I've enjoyed it well enough but another 300 odd (in-game) days of mowing is too much, especially when some of the contracts take over an hour (though that's partly because I was using cheap-ass mowers at the time). I've taken that as a sign it's time to move on
Latest on the "What garden is Deckard mowing" thread, yep I'm still playing it. Mostly because I can't decide what else I'm in the mood for.....

It's my birthday soon so if I get any money or vouchers I may pick up Wonderlands (the Borderlands spin off) but even then I've only a minimal hankering for it.

I'm bouncing around between my "perm" games like Vermintide and Destiny 2 right now. Haven't picked out what I want my next big game to be. Elex and Assassin's Creed: Origins are both on the short list, but there's no telling where I'll land really. Could even be Lawnmower Simulator.
I've managed to move on from Lawn Mowing, got stuck into Disgaea 6 over the weekend. Story is (like the rest that of the Disgaea games I've played) as pointless as existence and just as nonsensical but gameplay has been tweaked slightly so it shouldn't become a chore. Not completely sure why I picked it up but enjoying the gameplay cycle so farAlso played about 10 minutes of Elex 2.... seems like more of the same of what I'd played of the first but the start is a bit laughable. No spoilers but between the cutscene at the start and when you first take control of your character there seems to be a bit of a lack of attention to detail. Definitely not a AAA or even A game and would probably lucky to be considered a B, but probably one I'll enjoy well enough once I'm done with Disgaea dood

Contrary to John and his lack of gaming will power i´ve been hawing games for the X that i already own on the PS4 which is not stupid at all. lol.

Its hard to play a game in the Pro now when i can play it on the X with better framerates and faster loadings.

I've picked it up mate. £25 on Amazon which I thought was pretty good. Looking forward to making a start but weirdly got into replaying Wolfenstein: The New Order so put it to one side for now.

I've been playing Far Cry 5 lately, free on Game Pass. Enjoying it a fair bit more than I anticipated. Probably helps that I haven't played a Far Cry since 3 first came out. I must say, it is a bit strange wandering around shooting cultists in my own back yard. These types of people absolutely do exist around these parts. They always have been here, just not in great numbers, thankfully. Prepper culture is on the rise with the pandemic and general state of the world. It all feels pretty on the nose to me. They did do a great job with world design; the mountains and lakes I've seen seem true-to-life. Told a a few friends I was playing this game at a BBQ this weekend and learned that a promotional short-film for the game was actually shot in the small pub I sometimes frequent. I had no idea.

I enjoyed FC5 for sure.
We dont have that kind of preppers here in Portugal but i do understand where they´re coming from and what drives them,
I advise you to also play New Dawn. I started it right after finishing FC 5 and it felt like a proper continuation of the main game.
I remember hearing positive things about New Dawn. I'd be willing to pick it up if I see it on one of the those DLC sales. I don't know how I'll be feeling about the game itself by that point. We'll see if Ubi-fatigue sets in or if the story and setting can bring me to the finish line.

To me, by the time i finished FC 5 i was still wanting to play a bit more so New Dawn fit perfectly.
Plus, it really changes the overall feeling and atmosphere of the game so its not more of the same per say.
Mind that its not a DLC. Its actually a stand alone game.

Don't mock it till you've tried it ;) Lawnmowing Sim was pretty relaxing and weirdly addictive and some of the lawnmowers were surprisingly fun to drive. They could have done a bit more with the management side of it and it got a bit repetitive after a while but I got more enjoyment out of it than I did with ME Andromeda, A Plague Tale and God of War combined ;) Overall it was a decent change of paceI'll give almost any game a go if I think I can get a few hours entertainment out of it. I've said many a time, I just don't get walking sims, they are probably the only ones I'm wary of, so generally avoid them. But apart from those, I'll give any game a chance.

Still playing Dying Light 2.
Im 60 hrs into and still have half the map to explore.
Its starting to afect me having to deal with fear and horror every single night for maybe 3 weeks now (or more) but i cant help it as the game is pure fun.
The story is ok and somewhat forgetabble (at times i dont even remember what im supose to be doing) but its one of those games you can start a session, play around for 2 hrs doing random stuff and exploring, call it a night and have zero progress in the story.
I think the game is at least as good as DL 1.
I also hawed Pathologic 2 for the X. :P
Apparently the next God of War game (Ragnarok) launches on 9th Nov 2022.
I'm kind of half tempted to give the last God of War one final chance (for the fifth time). At this point I've no real interest in Ragnarok, unless the previous one clicks before then it'll be a wait for it to be on PS+ for me.Think I'm going to stick Forbidden West on over the weekend to see if the PS4 version looks any less horrible now (compared to PS5) after the framerate update. Tempted to pick up AI: The Somnium Files Nirvana Initiative tomorrow (I think that's when it's out), did enjoy the previous one and Yurukill sounds mildly interesting so might be time to do a bit of hawing instead....

for some weird reason im the same with GoW.
I have it for a realyl long time but i never felt the apeal to play it despite everyone saying its a really good game.
I tried it a couple of times but no more then 5 minutes each and i ended up going with another game.
I really can put my finger on why though as it seems to be the kind of game i usually enjoy.
I thought GoW was good but not the masterpiece it was made out to be. 7.5-8/10 tops.
I'm interested in Ragnarok but won't be a day one purchase for sure.
More Wolfenstein last night. Will probably finish the campaign tonight and then try and mop up the perks I missed first time round.

Its a game that i feel im ready to try at this point and see what all the fuss was about.
Im really curious.
On the other hand i watched a walkthrough video of it the other day and, unless i got it wrong, it had over 1 hr of cutscenes before the gameplay starts which is...worrying. lol

I already decided not to buy more games for the PS4.
I had Cyberpunk 2077 there but after i bought the X i knew it had to be played there so i bought it again along with FC6.
Im only playing DL2 on the Pro because it was a gift from my kids.
Yeah, I think 60FPS is the bare minimum for any sort of action-oriented game now. PS5 and XSX are just necessary for newer games to feel "right". I was playing Elden Ring on my old One X the other day and it started to give me headache from stuttering and dropped frames.

I´ve been rebuying a bunch of ps4 games exacly for that reason.
After getting used to 60 fps its really hard to go back to 30.
I played all of Fallout 3 in 60 fps and im now playing Fallout 4 and it has been a joy. The framerate makes the game so much more pleasant to play.
Btw, i´v put 40+ hrs in F4 and i still havent got to Diamond City yet. haha
Maybe that's the kick I need to go finish New Vegas.

Repaying it at 60 fps will be awesome.
