DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Getting near the end of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising. Still a little on the fence about it, mostly because of the side quests. They mostly consist of gathering materials, not hard but with the amount of them it becomes a bit tedious. It's making the game drag on a bit.

Current random gaming urge - a replay of Resi 6

Resi 6. That game was so weird.
I didnt like it at all until i started playing as a non-resi game and i started to have a blast.
Chris´s campaing was where i had most fun.

More DL 2 for me last night.
Im liking it quite a bit.
Diferent tone from DL 1 but not inferior so far. I really REALLY like the visuals and i think the game runs above 30 fps. Probably 40 ish. At least it feels like that on the Pro.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Lunchtime double Ping! 1. Eiyuden Chronicle. Just over 20hrs for the plat. Bit on the easy side overall and the 160 side quests were a bit tedious but not a bad wee game. Might install the PS4 version and ping it too while I'm in the mood. And 2nd ping.... My Name is Mayo 3...….cough

Resi 6 for me was a laugh. At times it was like they took as many horror situations as they could, shoved them together and hoped the whole thing made a little sense. It's so daft I'll always have a soft spot for it.

I enjoyed Dying Light 2, would say it's less horror and more fun than what I played of the first one

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Knocked out the PS4 Eiyuden Chronicle plat pretty quickly. Didn't think skipping cut scenes would make that much of a difference but it took just over 11hrs rather than the 20 for the PS5 run. Weirdly I probably enjoyed the 2nd playthrough more than the first.

Finally got stuck into Watchdogs Legion after that. Had it since day one but have never been in the mood to stick with it Gameplay wise I can't complain much, the sneaking and hacking are fine, not 100% convinced about the gunplay but I've seen worse. Story-wise, it doesn't always make a great deal of sense and the justification for some of your actions early on is a bit flimsy but that won't bother me too much. Enjoying it well enough so far

Morning all

Im enjoying Dying Light 2.
ITs a good game. I havent been too much into the story as i´ve been doing random stuff and exploring the local area for 3 days now. But i realyl enjoy the more slow paced vibe of the game.

Also, im trying to convince myself not to rehaw Fallout 4 goty edition for the Series X.
Cons: I already played the game and the Far Harbour DLC.
Pros: I get to play it at 60 fps with mods and i also can play the other DLC i havent played yet.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Funny, I'd re-installed Fallout 4 the other day and was thinking about replaying if Watch Dogs Legion hadn't clicked. Then again, I'd probably spend an hour cleaning up Sanctuary Hills or whatever its called, then give up. Far Harbor was, by far, the best of the DLC for me, it added an atmosphere the rest of the game largely lacked

So...its a Yay for my rehawing?
ITs currently at 30 eur for the base game and all dlc´s.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments For a game that old 30 euros sounds a bit steep to me

Error | 408 comments Well...I finally finished Elden Ring. It was my companion for months. I kind of miss it, but definitely need to mix things up for a while. Mixed it up with few new things:

Lost In Random - made it about halfway through this one. I absolutely love the combat system. The hybrid of card-based and action is super fun. The game has great art direction and story as well, but the voice acting is very much over the top and can grate at times.

Kentucky Route Zero - nice creepy point and click style adventure. I played the first chapter and enjoyed it. Will return at some point.

Microsoft Flight Simulator - it certainly isn't coming naturally, but I've almost progressed to the point that I can takeoff and keep a plane in the air comfortably. I tried to take off from a small regional airport near my home at night (because it was night real time) and that did not go well at all, however.

Hi all. Well I finally succumbed to my first case of Covid. Managed to dodge it for all this time but the missus went to a wedding and brought it back with her. Thanks. Feeling grotty but I’ll survive. At the weekend though before testing positive I played Omno which I really liked. A platform environmental puzzler with great artwork. Turned out it was an easy 1000g gamer score but didn’t realise this until I started to play it. Made a nice change to play something a little different to the usual shooter based game.

I would haw a game for myself if my mrs got me Covid.
Better yet. I would say to the Mrs she has to haw me a game because of that.

No nothing serious. I don’t think covid is that serious for vaccinated people and without any immune systems issues. Yea I’ve got no chance of my missus feeling responsible and buying me a game lol.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Managed to finish off the WD: Legion story. Ended up quite enjoying it. As I said the other day, the story is a bit off at times but gameplay wise it's not bad. Plus for an Ubisoft open world game it's not overly long, just over 30 hours. Not sure if I'll go for the plat, still a few awkward sounding trophies and I'm not sure I could be bothered with finding all the collectibles/activities. Not 100% sure what I'll move onto next, so might try and mop up a few of the easier trophies.

message 1566: by [deleted user] (new)

I've struggled to get onto my PS4 for the last few days. Not helped by a lack of motivation to carry on with Cars 3.

I've just noticed WRC 10 is on sale for approx £15. That may very well get hawed later today.

message 1567: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments Put in a little time with Control last night. I have to say, the game has the most unsettling atmosphere I've encountered since the original Dead Space. I'm enjoying it, but think I'll need a game on the side to collect myself when Control gets overwhelming.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've only one trophy left to get in WD Legion, and it seems to be a pretty easy one, but it just doesn't seem to be spawning for me. I think I've tried everything but it's just not happening, don't know whether it's bugged or not. I've started the PS4 version, so if it drops for that I should be able to upload to the cloud. If not, I'll have another 2 games with (slightly annoyingly) only one trophy left. Still happy enough playing it though at the minute.

message 1569: by [deleted user] (new)

Having one trophy left is a nightmare scenario for me so always leave a relatively easy trophy if I'm going for a funny or difficult one stopping me getting the plat.

Titanfall 2 is a good example. There's no way I'll get that infamous speed related trophy so I've left a couple of other relatively easy trophies. It makes no sense but trophy hawing makes little sense anyway.

Hope you get the last trophy you need though Deck.

Played a bit more Cars 3 last night. It's growing on me a little.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I'd rather leave half a dozen trophies than just the one.

I've read that WRC10 is a real step-down from WRC9 (which itself wasn't really any better than WRC8 - but WRC8 was a massive step-up for the series)

Ron | 78 comments Finally 1000G on Elden Ring. It was a hard slog. 107 hours. Although it is a good game I disagree it's a masterpiece. It has also confirmed for me that this will be my last souls game, apart from Sekiro which is in my backlog. Maybe if Bloodborne 2 appeared.... Anyhow I just don't have the time and patience for these any more. Some parts really were a chore. I'll continue to enjoy the lore videos and secrets on YouTube. Next up I need something fun and easy.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! WD Legion PS5. And since I've done all the heavy lifting I just need to run through the story on PS4 now for another plat. Pretty happy with that one, bit more satisfying than the Mayo 3 plat anyway ;)

And about WRC10 - don't know what it's like on PS4 but it wasn't quite as sharp as 9 visually. Other than that, it's more of the same, wouldn't say it's a big back-step. I still had fun with it.2

And I think part of the reason I loved Elden Ring was because I actually managed to finish it ;) In fact I plan on attempting to plat it in the near future, which isn't something I'd thought I'd ever say about a From game (well apart from Déráciné or whatever the VR game was called)

Super impressed you managed all achievements in 107 hours. That's basically a speed run. I'm embarrassed with the number of hours I've put in, and I still have to complete a second playthrough If I want to 100% the game.

There are some incredible videos of ER out there. I watched one where some guy one-shots every major boss in the game the other night. He had to amend it to one-shotting every phase of a boss, but it was still insane (bushygames).

I felt like shit Ron. I was off work for three days and although I’m over the fever, cough and headache - thinking that’s covid done - I now feel like I’m out of energy, any task feels like a real effort and I’m out of energy quickly, and I’ve lost my sense of taste. Still, I think I got off lightly. Sorry to hear you have it and hope you power through it soon.

Gaming wise I started Sniper Elite 5 yesterday. I love Sniper Elite and 5 is more of the same but a bit shinier. I just love the sandbox maps and that any approach goes. And even the multiplayer is fun too and a totally slow paced affair which makes a change. Perfect game for me on games pass and on day one saving me a pretty penny.

So last night i realized that i´ve been playing Dying Light 2 for over a week and didnt progress anything in the main quest.
There´s this dude waiting for me at some roof for 7 or 8 days now. lol.
I started to think the game was starting to get a little repetitive and it was not showing anything special but its 100% my fault.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I think I said at the time when I was playing Dying Light 2 - it doesn't do anything we've not seen a million times before. That said, I had a lot more fun with it than I expected.

Yeah. Its just a fun game to play tbh. It has nothing new on it but it great to play.
I also really like how much diferent it is from DL1. I mean, its still 100% a DL game but the tone and feel is very diferent which i think its how all sequels should be. Diferent but not worse.

Error | 408 comments So I've adapted to the atmosphere of Control and I'm really loving it. The Old House is such a fantastic setting for a game. I eagerly read the lore behind every single collectible trying to piece the mystery together. After a weekend of paranormal exploration and the time loop madness of Russian Doll on Netflix, my mind feels a bit like a wet noodle.

The atmosphere in Control was what made me love the game so much.
I love games that, after a while, you get used to the setting and almost breathe the air in there, if you know what i mean.
I strongly advise you to also play the DLC that ties the game to Alan Wake if you played it already.

Error | 408 comments It has been a long time, but yes I also played (and loved) Alan Wake. I do have the DLC and will be getting everything I can out of Control.

Despite the fantastical premise of the game, it feels rooted in reality and very much alive to me. Like I said, I read and truly absorb every bit of lore that comes from items. I also zoom in and examine all the bulletin boards and posters you find in The Old House. Great stuff.

Hi all. Over Covid now - well over a week ago - and have been playing Sniper Elite 5. Done the first six missions and love it. Really is a underrated gem Sniper Elite. Having a wide open different map for each mission which you can approach in any way you see fit makes it my type of game. Looks pretty nice too. Only have two more missions to go. And each mission takes a good two hours if you complete every objective so it's a pretty meaty game. I really like the infiltration multiplayer mode where someone can invade your game and look to take you out if they're good enough. I've invaded a couple of games myself and it's great seeing someone playing their campaign mission and you take them out - very satisfying.

Hi Rob

Glad you´re ok now mate.

I got hooked to Fallout 4 again.
Been playing on the X with a bunch of mods change the game for the better and i´ve been having a blast.
Sometimes i think that going from a new game to another all the time is good but can actually lead to a faster burnout.
Taking a break from that cycle and replaying an old game can feel really refreshing at times.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've been suffering from the curse of the dodgy controller again, so been trying to avoid playing anything that requires too much precision. Well I had 90 mins to kill last night which wasn't enough time to complete a mission on Sniper Elite 5. So I heard lots of good things about Lost in Random. Not sure if it's for me. The artwork is truly superb and the world very atmospheric but not sure about the game play. Collecting dice dots to fill up your dice so you can use battle cards linked to the side of the dice to defeat enemies - I think that's how it works. It got a bit tiresome after a while. It's not turn based either so it seemed a bit weird to me. I mean it's not bad just not sure it's my bag. Plus the dialogue is too long and frequent - constantly going through text conversations isn't my thing either. Fine in Mass Effect but this just seems a lot more. I'll play some more and see if it sticks.

Morning all

Im almost playing Dying Light 2 for 2 weeks without advancing the main story.
I start determined to do the next main mission but as soon as i find myself in a rooftop i get distracted by some other thing and off i go.
I truly cant talk much about the story and i truly cant even remember what i was suposed to do next but this game is pure fun.
Its also terrifying at times. I started a side quest where i had to go into an underground parking lot which is infested with zombies and i literally walked back 1/3 of the mission as i was scared to death of going deeper in the darkness.
It may not be the best game ever but i have zero complains so far.

Played through both the PS5 & 4 versions but only platted the PS4 one, as I didn't realise there was a missable trophy first time around. And it's a trophy there's no real shortcut, so I'll have to play the PS5 one from the beginning all the way through if I want another ping. Not sure I fancy another 20+ hours of it at the minute so might come back to it eventually.

Think I'm getting in the mood for another Elden Ring play, well for as long as the controller behaves anyway. Probably too soon for a full replay but might mess about till something catches my eye

The dialogue of Lost In Random is waaaayy too much. There have been a few characters that I really enjoyed, but most are somewhere between mildly annoying and anesthesia. I actually loved that combat system. If you don't find yourself enjoying the battles more, no sense carrying on with it.

Yea I’m going to give it a bit more time. The battles were ok but I found them a bit laborious. Unless I’m not getting it - it’s not my usual type of game - but you have to knock dots off enemy to charge up your dice to use battle cards. And battle cards are the only way to wear down enemy health bars. When I was being followed by half a dozen enemy, turning to shoot to collect dots, it just got a bit silly for me. Considering it’s not a short game unless I like it soon I will be binning it off. Artwork and environments are great though.
