Morning all
I have to say im starting to think Nier Automata is draggin on a bit.
I really like the game but im 40+ hrs into and im probably midway Route C and i still have D and E to play which is making me a bit tired.
I think the story is amazing but i do hope the game gets a bit more linear so i can speed up thigns a bit.
I was already a bit tired yesterday and i got the the resistence camp with A2 and Anemone told me to check a terminal for some backstory about them both. I did and i had a veeeeery long text exposition about their assault team in a past battle.
The story was cool but making me spend 10 minutes looking at a text was a bit tiresome.

Will be putting a new SSD in the PS5 as well. It's supposed to be easy, at least easier than putting a new hard drive in the pS4, which was a teeny nightmare. Also have to update the Xbox One as I've had it turned off for ages, so having a bit of a console day tomorrow (not working, had this week off cos it's my birthday week).
This gaming lark does keep us busy!!

Happy birthday in advance AG.

I updated the hard drive for both my Pro´s and it felt like i was designing a skyscraper or something.
I dont know about the PS5 but i bought an SSD external drive for my Series S/X and it was as easy as plug in and update.

Ping! - MACE Tower Defence.
Would have happily paid a fiver for it but as it is, it's the best 84p I've ever spent.

I never really understood the point of replacing the HDD when it's so easy to plug one into the USB. You still get to use the internal one in addition to the expansion as well.

There´s something a bit off regarding the SSD i bought.
Every 4 or 5 days it disconnects from the Series S and i have to unplug and plug it again for it to start working.
Its never a problem beyond that but its a bit annoying when i sit at the couch, turn the console on and then have to get up again for to unplug and plug again the usb drive.
Never understood what it happens.

And speaking of HDD - I was thinking about trying Avengers again but it's now up to 109GB, which is a major whack of the PS5. I'm not that fussed on playing it anyway. Tried it a few times, lost interest each time after a while, so would guess this attempt would follow suit.

Yeah, i have 2TB on both my Pros and its really great. I always have a huge list of games ready to play at any time.
I always imagined that one of the main features of a next gen console would be a 2TB SSD or at least a two version of such console. 1TB and 2TB.

Mates, im starting to build up my Xbox backlog so...Dead Rising 3...yay or nay?
I only played DR4 which i had a great time with.

I have to say, this is an area where game streaming is very convenient. If I'm not sure about a Game Pass download, I often stream it for a few minutes to see if it is worth my time. Great feature.

But if they put out 2 versions then it would be the customer´s choice to either pay normal or a higher price. It would make more sense to me.
I think even 1TB will be a real problem in the future.

It might only be 1001 in game day/night cycles but one of them takes about 10 minutes at the fastest speed. If I left my PS5 on for 24hrs straight it would only contribute 144 nights to that total. And since I've done everything there is to do already, it'll mean either a lot of repetition or just leaving the game running while I do something else. I reckon I've only probably hit the 300 mark at the most (no way of tracking it either).
And since it's the only trophy left, it'll likely end up like Grid and feel like I've unfinished business, so will think about replaying it ever so often, only to give up pretty quick. Might give it to the end of this week and if I don't feel like I've made a dent, I'll move along. Still, I did enjoy the game
And I'm sure it's just a coincidence that there's a tonne of paid DLC for it ;)
Morning all
Finished Nier Automata.
Got ending A,B,C,D and E. Also did DAT THING in the end that left me gutted but somehow proud of myself.
Overall i thing its a very good game. The story is fantastic and left me with deep thoughts with myself.
I get why so many think its an absolute masterpiece but to me it didnt reach that status. Mainly because of some gameplay choices that left me a bit tired by the end. (mostly Route B).
But i do think its a really good game that would make a fantastic movie adaptation.
I give it a very solid 8,5 out of 10.
I imediatly started Everybody´s Gone to the Rapture and this time im really enjoying it. Again, im 100% hooked to the story and how its unfolding. Im currently in Stephen´s chapter but got a really stupid bug last night where the light orb got stuck near a van and i thought it was meant to be like that (cause i think im in the last chapter) which left me wandering all over the map for 20+ minutes until i realized i didnt have a clue where to go and something must be wrong.
I reloaded the game and the orb wasnt stuck anymore but i lost those 20 minutes of exploration so i have to redo them tonight.
But its ok cause its such a nice feeling to explore that world and listen to that music.
Good game.

Afternoon all. Not played anything since finishing MACE TD. When I finish a game these days I find it really difficult to start something new.
Yea me too. Lost a lot of ethusiasm for gaming recently. Had a weekend off gaming - except a quick stint of multiplayer - so not started anything new since completing the main campaign of Alan Wake Remaster. I'm thinking my next game will be Sniper Elite 5 probably - end of May.
I hear you guys and i frequently feel the same.
I think its due to the amount of time we know a new game will take to finish which makes it a huge time investment for us to decide.

Im not lightweight cause, despite these issues, i always start a new game right after finish one. :P
Burnout FTW!!

It's literally been years (probably decade and not exaggerating) since I've given gaming even a day's break. It's probably little wonder PS5 controllers and Xbox battery life can't keep up ;)
Been gaming heavily since the late 80's, so I've probably been burnt-out long ago and just been zombie gaming ever since ;)
I don't think I'm burnt out. Sometimes I don't feel the enthusiam to start a new game but it will pass. Always does :-). I am thinking of starting Alan Wake DLC remastered campaigns or Metro Exodus Sam's Story this weekend but I'm in no hurry - see how I feel.
Personally my main problem is having way to many games to play and to many consoles to play them.
Everytime i want to start a new game i have to consider which one, when i bought it, how much time it will take me and how many games i want to finish in the current year.
Also, at this point also have to consider where i play it (Pro or Xbox) and if its worthwile to play it on the Pro or play the better version later on on the X. And if so,should i rebuy some games for the X?
Trust me, gaming sometimes almost makes me go nuts...

And yet we still manage to find ourselves always looking for more ;)

Yea at somepoint by the end of 2023 I will probably get myself a PS5. It does ramp-up the 'backlog anxiety syndrome' being dual-console :-). Never going to stretch it to a Switch as well - although the Switch has never really appealed to me. Thing is by the end of 2023 a lot more of MS's developers will be churning out more games (once they've caught up) than they do now so it will only get worse for me and going dual-console taboot. At the moment though for me the backlog is actually quite small.

I think I've convinced myself the Cities: Skylines plat probably isn't worth it. Play for 5 hours and it only knocks off about 30 nights out of the 1001.... think even I could find better uses of my time.
Probably not under the "better use of my time" category but noticed My Name is Mayo 3 has appeared on the PS store.....

Morning all
Im in one of those mornings where i have zero willpower to handle work...
Finished Everybody´s Gone to the Rapture.
You know what? i actually loved it. It was the perfect game to play after Nier Automata.
The story was very interesting and engaging and the graphics and atmosphere were very immersive and relaxing.
I finished it in two days so it didnt dragged to long.
Its a solid 8/10 in the walking sim scale.
Right now im trying to decide what to play next.
Last night i tried Outer Wilds which everyone claims is a masterpiece but i wasnt in the mood. Played a bit until i reached a planet with huge storms and i realized i wasnt capable understanding what i was suposed at that point and called it quits.
I may start Dying Light 2 or Cyberpunk 2077 tonight. I really dont know...

And my hatred of walking sims increases tenfold ;)
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is the biggest reason I avoid walking sims like the plague and if it's a good example of the genre.....

I understand where you´re coming from mate.
But to me it always really depends on the mood you´re at in a given time.
After Nier i really didnt want to play any rpg, action or open world game. I thought of Rapture, loaded it and it felt so relaxing and intriguing that i enjoyed every minute.
After its done i want to play a proper game again but those two days were really refreshing. It felt like i took a break to read a book.

A book where you walk around for 10 minutes just looking for the next paragraph ;)
haha.
Dont be like that.
A walking sim can be a great experience trust me.
Soma is honestly a walking sim but its one of the best games i ever played because there´s all the room in the world to create an amazing story in a game like this. If done right it can be an amazing experience.

For that i rather replay ME Trilogy. But its on the xbox and i still use the Pro in my bedroom.
Im more leaned to Dying Light 2 but im still not sure.

hancock wrote: "Has anyone looked at the new ps+ tiers yet, and if so, is anyone planning to upgrade beyond the already essential subscription?"
I did but im not going for it.
I have ps+ for ages and the only reason i still have it is because i need the cloud saves for my two Pros and the ocasional freebies.
I will mantain the base for sure but wont upgrade mainly because i also have Gamepass Ultimate and its a hell of a service.
And since i probably wont be able to buy a Ps5 in the next 3 years im slowly turning to xbox.
That´s where my future gaming is unless i get extremely lucky and find a PS5.

I’ll probably subscribe to the tier with included PS5 games when I eventually get a PS5 but only on an ad-hoc basis while there is a game I want to play. Can’t see me subscribing to both games pass and PlayStation plus each and every month. I have games pass to the end of 2024. After then I’ll probably dip in and out on both ps plus and games pass to save money.
Don’t worry Glass you’re not the only one to enjoy Everybody’s gone to the rapture. It was a well done game. Firewatch is the other must play walking sim.

For sure.
Also a very good game.
I also enjoyed Gone Home.
A literal game where nothing happened but such a cool time.

So, anyone excited or just curious about the new Vampire Mascarade game? Swansong i think its called.

Think I've given up on Surviving Mars. It's not terrible but a bit too fiddly for my current patience level. Played a bit of Eiyuden Chronicle instead, doesn't exactly set the world on fire but for the price it's not bad. May have picked up Salt and Sacrifice (& Mayo 3) as well.
I started Cars 3 (Pixar movie tie in game) yesterday but its one of those games you start and immediately wish you'd not. I've unlocked a couple of trophies now so will have to stick with it. I don't think it's going to be as easy a plat as I was hoping either but will see how it goes.
Morning all
Started Dying Light 2 last night.
I only played a bit and didnt find any zombies yet. Just explored the initial place the game led me to. Gotta say that the visuals and tone really impressed me. The enviromental storytelling in the mansion was hard hitting and the tone is a lot diferent from DL1.
Im not overly excited but i do wanna go home and get back to it which usually is a good sign.

I thought I was nearly at the end having defeated 16 major bosses, 5 of which were shardbearers.
Then I looked at the map...probably 30% of it still greyed out.
Then I looked the achievement list...about another 15 bosses to go.
