Totally off topic, I'm thinking of giving up my Xbox subscription once I've played Halo Infinite. Am I right in thinking that I will also lose my "gamertag" and therefore all the games I've downloaded under my current one for the future?

You’ll keep your gamer tag. That’s just an account thing not a subscription thing. Any games you’ve bought you’ll keep and still be able to play (download at any time with or without a games pass sub). A subscription is only for multiplayer and/or games pass games. With MS you will also keep your cloud saves, and continue to use them and create new cloud saves without a subscription. However, without a games pass or games pass ultimate subscription any games you've downloaded from games pass will not play after your subscription expires.
Fabulous! That's just what I wanted to know. I very rarely use my xbox and it seems a waste at the moment to keep up the subscription. I'll leave it till it runs out in November, because I won't play Halo until I finish Amalur - or at least get close to finishing it - and that should give me enough time.

One thing I would say is go and thoroughly explore the area to the south of Lingrave. It is more of a starter area (even more so than Stormveil) and would be better experienced at a lower level. I still had fun, but it was very clear that I was over-leveled when I found it.
I'm still discovering new areas btw. It's possible that I can actually see the finish line now, but that would still be a few weeks off.

I tried Hellblade yesterday with 4k and raytracing (30 fps though) and it looked amazing.
It seems like everyone has been able to get their hands on new consoles recently. I hope everyone that wants one can get one at the normal retail price now.

The PS+ games for April are woeful even by recent PS standards - Hood, Spongebob and Slay the Spire....Might give the last one a go but yeah really uninspiringManaged to get a bit further than my first character in Elden Ring. The bouncer outside the royal capital just wouldn't let him in but this new character got in just fine. A lot of different things happened this time a round, probably because I was paying a bit more attention to all the side characters. Anyway.. took one look at the capital, thought if that's half as complex as it looks I'll never get through.
Also daftly tempted to start another new game, I've a ridiculous amount of interesting looking and sounding weapons stockpiled (magic too) that I don't have the stats for. And they just keep throwing them at me.

Killed Moreau, the third boss in RE Village.
I have to say im absolutely loving this game. The visuals and the atmosphere are so immersive. Its a treat to walk around that world.
Its definitly a bit less scary then RE7 but not worse imo.
I can only imagine this game in 4K with 60 fps.

I absolutely loved it. I´ve put so many hrs into it.
The world, the characters, the gameplay...i never understood why this game never got the praise it deserved.

Hi Error - I am actually running around Caelid and Lingrave at the moment but every enemy is beasting me. I'm really not feeling the astrology again. It's a glass cannon build really so if anyone gets close I am toast. I managed to fight my way to a castle across a bridge that was being pelted with fireballs. Worked my ass off to kill all the enemies. Ran out of magic and was on a sliver of health when I backstabbed the last guy with my rubbish sword. Patted myself on the back and made my way up to the castle entrance. Then I heard this noise as a giant lands right in front of me. Ran away and died from what looked like wind. Far as I can tell he killed me with a fart. FML.

Yea be careful on that - it's a minefield of compromises. And not cheap - you're talking (in UK pounds) at least £1000+, in euros conversion $1200+ (for a 65 inch TV, less for a smaller TV).

Since day one it randomly goes black for a second (handshake issues i think) with the PS4 Pro and ocasionaly red lines apear for also a second randomly.
It didnt happen with the normal PS4 though. Only with the Pro.
Maybe its time to change for a new TV (that supports 120 fps :P)

You could try changing your HDMI cable - that's helped me in the past. Also when a game is first fired up it will change your TV mode to HDR which causes a brief black screen.

I tried 3 or 4 mate and it never fixed the issue.
I usually never quit until i resolve the situation but in this case i had to as i saw no other option.
I changed display options in the Pro, changed cables, etc with no avail.
My TV doenst have internal hdmi ports. I has one attachment where all the hdmi, AV, etc ports are which connects to the tv.
I think maybe that´s what causes it. Someting goes wrong between the external ports thing and the TV.

OK not sure how you connect your Pro to your TV - sounds like either an A/V Receiver or One box connect module that usually come with some Samsung TVs. Saying that if you've tried everything sounds like you won't be able to fix it. BTW - I also have occasional blank screens when connecting my TV to my Pro - infrequent but they do happen. I think it could be a Pro issue.

With the Series X i havent got any black screen so far so its probably an issue with the Pro and the Tv as i never got it with my other LG tv where i have the other Pro.

Yea I used to have Samsung TV just like it - before it died. I'd guess it's your Pro - like I say mine very occasionally does it too.
It's a vicious cycle. Now that I have a Series X I want a new TV too. I've spent too much money recently though. It will have to wait until next year.Ron - I was an astrologer too. Being able to take down enemies at distance is extremely helpful. There is also some sorcery stuff in Caelid that can make your life easier. I enjoyed exploring that area early too, but know that everywhere else you can travel to right now has easier enemies/dungeons/catacombs. Also lower level upgrade materials if you are struggling to find those. 30hrs into the game I went back to early areas and then was able to upgrade my primary weapon from +3 to +15. The way they handle upgrade materials in the open world is actually probably my biggest complaint about the game.

The only thing I regret is not going OLED (other than buying my current Sony TV which is an absolute joke) which is more expensive but definitely better than LCD/LED assuming you're not in a very bright room. OLED burn-in albeit still a possibility is less of an issue nowadays - assuming you watch varied content and not the same TV channel with the same positioned logo every day.
Glass - the black screen is a known issue with the PS4 Pro. I had it on mine and it drove me bananas. I finally learned to turn the console on and leave it for a few minutes. That way you dont get black screen at a crucial gaming moment!Error - yep, I'm going backwards now I have a meteorite staff and gravity spell. Will level my intelligence until I can one shot all these annoying plebs.

Yeah. My tv handles HDR10 and 4k 60 fps perfectly well.
I havent tried many games but Helblade ran pretty well on 4k 60 fps and 4k ray tracing 30 fps.
Yeah..i probably dont need a new tv. :P

I'm in the desert mining area with the gnomes. I believe I'm just about to have a barney with some gnome called Octienne.
The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is the lack of decent longswords there seem to be. There's a million Greatswords and staves and sceptres, but I would really like a longsword that does better damage. I change over every time I find one, but compared with the greatswords, the damage for longswords doesn't seem to increase at the same level.
Not really into the magic or elemental stuff too much. I'm more of a bash 'em over the head or stick 'em with something pointy kinda gal!

As for the weapons i do remember having the same issue. I kept upgrading my sword but i remember barely changing when i was way into the game.
Since im still in the mindset of spending money, does anyone recomend a good wireless headset with surround options for the X in the same vain as the Platinum Headset for the Ps4?

Avoided making too much headway into the royal capital in Elden Ring and just explored elsewhere last night. Managed to stumble across a few more trophy giving sub-bosses, which I'm guessing they expected me to find earlier because I was pretty overpowered (didn't think such a thing was possible in a From game!). Think I'm going to keep exploring for a while rather than continue. The enemies in the capital weren't hard but I'd like to see what else I can find elsewhere

I got to the Stronghold section fully loaded with ammo cause i´ve been saving and managing it quite well lately.
Then i entered the Lycan´s den and they started spawing everywhere. I survived for quite some time and got really low on ammo only to start thinking it was an infinite spawning point. I made my way up and found one of those armored Lycan´s. I killed it, went through a door and realized they stopped spawning and there was a type writer waiting for me.
Now...i wasted most of my ammo and im not sure if i was just suposed to just run to the exit and escape.
As much as i dont like it i think i´ll have to redo that area cause i smell a boss battle ahead of me and i have no ammo left.
In a survival game with limited ammo one cannot simply make an infinite spawing area and not warn the player (in a Aragorn´s meme)...

Hey Glass, I'm pretty sure I know the part you are talking about, and I'm probably completely wrong but I seem to remember sitting in a corner with a good line of sight where they were coming from and them stopping eventually. Definitely remember walking about the area empty as well but then that could have been after some story event. Maybe I was lucky and it glitched!

I killed the armored dude and the area seemed clear. I went into the door, got back to see if i missed any item and they started spawning again so im really not sure if it was the last wave or not.
I ran from there like a little baby. lol.
I will try to redo the area in a diferent save slot tonight to see if i manage to get through it with more ammo.

I could well be wrong. I remember a few areas where a lot of ammo was used but there were usually areas to stock back up nearby.

Pretty cool as it cost me only 15 eurs for the licence and since i have a good stereo headset already i saved quite a bit of money.
There´s also another licence for Atmos which does the same but i havent hawed it (yet).
I predict that, in a couple of months, i´ll take the X to my bedroom and it will start to be my main console.
And after that point Glass was never seen again ;)

The only thing that can ruin my plans is finding a PS5 too.
Spent a good few hours just thoroughly exploring some areas in Elden Ring and managed to knock off a couple more trophy giving bosses and a shardbearer. I've a few options of where to head next and I'm a little undecided. There's continue through Leyndell, or explore Nokstella and Nokron (though it's more the area after that) or venture up the mountain. I'm thinking maybe wander around Nokstella for a bit. The game just seems to get bigger and bigger but even after 70+ hours of the first character and 85+ hours of the current one, I've no sign of game fatigue and still enjoying it just as much.And I've plenty of larval tears now so I'm very tempted to spend some time re-spec'ing my character (only to inevitably go back to what I started as no doubt)
Nokron is beautiful and a relative walk in the park compared to where you go after Leyndell. I had a great time there. Probably best to tackle that first. I've been trying to find other places to mop up myself lately. Difficulty is spiking a bit right now.

I ended up not redoing that part. I started but after 10 seconds i was like "nope...not gonna happen".
I did good progress afterwards.
Killed Urias and im now at the factory which has the old Resi vibe all over it, imo.
I still have what i believe is an optional area called Otto´s Mill where i got a glimpse of a huge enemy just like the one i killed in a cemetery.
I though about going there but im not about too spend most of my precious ammo only to get some treasure. As valuable as it may be i dont think its worth it for now.

I'm making decent progress in Elden Ring. Defeated 4 of the shardbearers so far and a load of sub-bosses. Got a few areas I'd like to explore more fully before heading further up the mountain of giants (or whatever it's called). And as I've hinted at before, the more I play it, the more I want to, and no sign of it wearing out it's welcome
The tree sentinel it's best to come back later, he can be a right pain. If you've got the spirit lone wolves, once they are upgraded they are more of a distraction. I'm guessing for the NPC in Roundtable hold it's the place you can jump down, with the guy that uses frost attacks? Again, I don't think they are meant to be fought right away. Come back when you are stronger.
Margit, both times I've got past him I've summoned Rogier (should be a gold summon sign on the ground near the entrance) and the lone wolves and coated my sword with fire with the intent to do as much damage to him before they all die. I do think he'd be tough playing as an Astrologer though
There is a lot of magic (and a lot of weapons with magic, arcane, or holy scaling) and it does seem powerful but I find sword and shield easier. Especially when you get a decent greatshield, it and the counterstrike can be very effective. I've not put too many points on health so far but between my heavy armour and shield I'm feeling tougher than I would do in a typical Souls
