DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Should probably have put into context- 40+ minutes on fast forward, when even most of the main bosses take less than 10 seconds. Feels like a lifetime of a difference, and not sure I've the motivation to face the rest

Equinox80 | 665 comments I played Resogun last night in coop with someone from a PSNP session. I was terrible at it in 2014 and sadly nothing has changed. We must have tried the same boss approx 30-40 times before admitting defeat. I think he wants to try again tonight but I think it will be futile. Its not even the highest trophy related difficulty we were playing on!

The trophy list for Forza Horizon 5 has been released. There are 165 trophies including all the DLC. That should keep me busy.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, think I'll give up on the FF12 plat for now. Had a look and Yiazmat 50 million HP, takes over an hour if you are prepared. Might try and knock out most of the rest but that and maybe one or two others, don't think I've the patience for at the minute

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Nope, now the rest of the trophies are looking like a chore ;) Think that's me moving on for now

message 5205: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments You sound like you're in a similar place to me Deck. Looking at old games to potentially chip away at. I've had quite a bit of success with it of late but not so much last night. Sometimes it becomes quickly apparent why I gave up on a game in the first place.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I'm definitely remembering why I didn't bother with some of the trophies before. I think it's doable but a bit too frustrating for my current level of patience

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Just went ahead and finished off the story in FF12 again. Was curious to see if there was any difference between ng+ and ng+2. Kept a save before the final sequence though, if I'm ever in the mood to attempt the plat again. Enjoyed the recent replays, the remaining trophies not so much

Now on to....no idea. Quite like Citizen Sleeper but it's more one to play in short sessions. Have a bad feeling I'll be driving myself crazy with FF12 until something else appears

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Might have just hawed Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree. Bit pricier than I'd like but.....

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Probably good reason I'll not be retiring early like R ;)

Completed Atomfall. Chose the ‘follow the telephone call man’ ending. Enjoyed it. Found it difficult to put down before completing it. There look to be quite a few endings but I’ve rolled credits and happy with the one I got. Defo worth a play. 7/10 on the r-score-o-meter. Next gonna give South of Midnight a go.

Got my blu ray drive add on for my Pro. I shouldn’t be excited to have a disc drive lol especially when they should be included. Nice to have access to disc games again and might upgrade my TLOU2 on PS4 disc to the PS5 version for a tenner.

I thought you were paid to game Deckard? 😛

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments In my dreams...then again I'd probably have to take it seriously and have nightmares every night about having to face another Andromeda or Everybody's Gone to the Rapture ;)

I'd briefly considered the disc drive when I saw the price cut, but these days, I've fully bought into the laziness of the digital native ;)

Atomfall, it's definitely not cricket ;)

For £70 it will pay for itself probably with two games purchases considering how much cheaper older games on disc are compared to digital. I can add the games to my display collection too. One day these disc games could be collectors items or more likely worth nothing. I regret selling some of them back in the PS3/360 days.

Equinox80 | 665 comments I remember buying Xmen Origins: Wolverine for about £5 a couple of years ago. It sells in CEX for £40 last time I looked. I don't think I've got any other ones like that though.

I stuck The Division 2 on this morning, fully expecting to turn it off after a few minutes. Six hours later my wife made me turn it off because my tea was ready. I can see me playing this a lot over the next few weeks. In fact, I'm not sure why I stopped playing it before.

message 5215: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Ping! The Division 2

I'm glad I put that on. I kept rattling through the remaining trophies, even getting a dark zone one (PvP) legitimately. My friend helped me boost the last one and it was so easy to do compared with what I thought was involved. Really not sure why I abandoned this 5 years ago.

Morning all. Played a lot of South of Midnight over the weekend and about half way through. It's definitely a mixed bag but the graphics, artwork and music are all superb - the graphics are very impressive. It's worth playing just for these three things alone. The story touches on some hard subjects too, surprising for a video game - story though is pretty decent. What lets it down is the game play. The platforming is OK - fun enough - but kinda done it seen it all before and quite often better elsewhere. The combat though - every enounter is the same with the same enemies mostly and in closed off areas that all look very samey regardless of the artwork preceding it. The combat is adequate but it's far from anything special - they add new mechanics gradually through the campaign but again each mechanic is a variation on a theme. Had a couple of boss fights which again just plain OK. Shame really as the graphics, artwork and music are all 9-10/10 - all very polished. The game play however scrapes a 7/10 (perhaps 6/10 is more the mark but everything else is so good).

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments WTF? Oblivion remastered! Didn't even realise they were working on it let alone out today. Yep, it's in the basket

Yea I was going to ask if anyone is buying Oblivion. Included on Games Pass so I know where I’m playing it after South of Midnight. I do wonder if it will be much better on Pro but I’m not paying £60 to find out. And they call it a remaster. Looks to me to be a full on remake - graphically looks completely overhauled.

Has anyone bought Indiana Jones yet? It’s on PS5 now. I loved it so you know it’s good 😉.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Probably more surprising than it's release is that they look like they've put effort into it. Very un-Bethesda like ;)

Indiana Jones....maybe when it's a lot cheaper/free. Not a chance of them getting £70 out of me when I'm only mildly interested. Looks decent enough but definitely no hurry to play it

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Stuck a few hours into Oblivion and love it all over again.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Will say, it's not dropped at a great time. Still likely to pick up FH5, and quite fancied replaying Days Gone, and had been enjoying Unicorn Overlord despite its daft name. But most of that has been shoved to the side now.

message 5222: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Yeah I'm worried about getting into something meaty before FH5 drops.
As it is, last night I played The Division 1 as I've got a real taste for those games now. I don't think I'll get fully into it like I did 2 but it'll scratch that itch.

Last night I also played Resogun in coop again and knocked a couple more trophies out of it. I think my coop partner should probably try and find someone else though as I'm just no good at these kinds of games (despite some minor improvement last night). If I can raise my trophy completion for the game over 30%, I'll consider it a bonus.

Error | 408 comments I'm still piecing America back together in Death Stranding. This is going to be an all-timer for me. It's the singular sort of video game experience that just doesn't happen all that much. Crazy that the game came out months before COVID hit given the subject matter of the game.

message 5224: by Equinox80 (last edited Apr 23, 2025 08:14AM) (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I see the Warlords of New York expansion for The Division 2 is £6.24 in the new sale (down from £24.99). Its like its meant to be.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm definitely loving replaying Oblivion, but when there's a lot going on, the framerate isn't the most stable, and that's on a Pro on performance setting. Other than that, no complaints

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I might hold off on playing Oblivion for now. Bit too eager to get through it at the minute, when I would rather take my time. I'd did all the arena fights and half of the mages guild stuff already. I'd normally explore everywhere before going anywhere near story related stuff

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Have £20 in the PS wallet, so might do something daft like pick up the deluxe version of FH5. Not really interested in the Lego DLC, so I'd basically be paying an extra tenner for the rally dlc and early access...which sound alright....or do the sensible thing and get the base game cheaper....have a sneaking suspicion that the decision has already been made ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hot Wheels, not Lego

message 5229: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Ive pre ordered the base game version of FH5 and will then pick up the DLC packs as and when. I'll get the Hot Wheels one but will prioritise the Rally one as well.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Days Gone Remastered, you can download your PS4 save for an insta-ping.... Ping! Days Gone Remastered. I'll still give it a replay in the near future but that'll stave off the plat cravings for a bit ;)

Plat cravings. I didn’t know that was a thing.

message 5232: by Equinox80 (last edited Apr 27, 2025 01:44AM) (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments If I can upgrade for £10 I might do the same thing ;)

Edit - I can't upgrade for £10

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'll take a break from FH5. Still a long way from the plat, but finished the main events and hall of fame, so an Oblivion sized break, then return and do the dlc and polishing off the remaining stuff, looks like a plan

Finished South of Midnight. I certainly enjoyed it. Stunning graphics and artwork, amazing world, not so bad platforming and pretty mediocre combat. 7.5 on the r-score-o-meter.

I’ve started the Oblivion remaster. Initial impressions were very good, getting through the introduction dungeon area and breaking out into the outside world. Loved it, looks great bar the performance issues, and was hooked. Then the frustrations started. Into another dungeon following the mission way marker to a hard lock pick. Why? The game has just started. So had to back track. Then one of the early missions in the Imperial City and I must have committed a crime without my knowledge and every f’er is after me - I mean everyone at once. I should have gone to jail probably to rid myself of my wanted level but I persevered. I’m on the verge of binning it off - it’s not been fun except for the first couple of hours.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Lock picking is definitely a lot more of a pain than I remember. Apart from that, Oblivion is all good for me

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's also a bit smaller and more sparse than I remember. I think even exploring everywhere it's not going to take a lifetime

message 5237: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I'll have access to FH5 tomorrow, although will kick the download off before I go to bed tonight.

The plat looks doable apart from one trophy that looks a potential pain and plat buster. Win an Eliminator event online. I'm not going to think too much about trophies on this as I just want to enjoy it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I think ignoring the trophies is the way to go for FH5. Some of the bonus boards are in ridiculous positions, so reckon it would be an exercise in frustration to smash them all. There's not too many other trophies that look too problematic though, should be able to get most of them. Gave both the dlcs a go, and seems alright

message 5239: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Yeah if I get near the plat I'll probably go all out for it but otherwise, its just going to be my fun only game. Apparently its a 7/10 difficulty because of this silly online trophy and just a fairly straightforward 4/10 if that wasn't there.

I've been over doing the trophy hawing of late so will be nice to just play the game like a normal person for a change.

message 5240: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've got FH5 ready to go tonight.

I spent a few hours aimlessly wondering around in The Division 1 last night. They really refined the formula for the second game and the first game feels a bit rough in comparison. I think I'll bin it off again tonight as I imagine most of my gaming time will be spent behind the wheel in Mexico for the forseeable.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Mix of Oblivion and FH5 for me at the minute. Have most of the east side of the map explored in Oblivion (apart from ones locked by story/side quest). FH5, I've done all the races in the main campaign minus the story ones and think I'll likely knock out the drive all roads trophy today since I've only about 40 left. Reckon between the 2, I'll not feel the need for hawing.....I'll not hold my breath ;)

message 5242: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Having waited 12-13 years for Forza to come to PS and finally having the chance to play it...I left it and played some Division 2 DLC instead.

Felt a bit too tired to start something new last night so might start it tonight. If not tonight then defo tomorrow as I have the day off work (booked ages ago with intention to play FH5). I'm slightly worried about how much I've hyped it up in my own mind too. I think I just need to stop faffing around and get it played.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments It's a decent drive, but wouldn't say it's anything special and lacks something. At least they seem to have adjusted the wheelspins so you aren't getting completely pointless clothing items all the time

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I see Returnal has got a Pro patch. Might reinstall that and give it a blast too

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Should probably have said I am enjoying replaying FH5 and not doing it out of masochism ;) It's scratching an itch at least

message 5246: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've built it up in own head to the point where I'm expecting that firing up the game for the first time will feel like some kind of semi religious experience. Ridiculous I know.

message 5247: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments There's a couple of low key kind of games that I've seen trailers for recently that look interesting if nothing else

Formula Legends - an F1 game with a slightly cartoony aesthetic. Looks to sit somewhere between the yearly Codemasters F1 games and that F1 Stars game that came out on PS360 years ago

Roadcraft - you drive lorries, diggers and other large vehicles to rebuild areas hit by natural disasters. Has a coop mode too

La Quimera - don't know much about this but looks to be an homeage to 2007-2014 single player FPS campaigns. The gameplay footage I saw had strong Killzone vibes.

There's also a Borderlands 4 state of play/gameplay deep dive at 10pm tonight. Will definitely be watching that.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Finished the rally expansion in FH5 and most of the way through the Hot Wheels stuff. Think once I've knocked that out I'll move on for now. Not aiming for the plat at the minute, still too many trophies I dont fancy attempting. Likely go back and attempt it at some point though.

message 5249: by Equinox80 (last edited May 01, 2025 07:54AM) (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've finally started FH5 and I like it. Its quite overwhelming in terms of all the menus, events and all sorts unlocking. A lot to keep track off.

Plat wise it will be very much a marathon and if I get it, I imagine it'll take months if not years because of all the content and trophies. I'm kind of resigned to not getting it but that's fine.

Still feels weird playing this on PlayStation

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I've a slightly ridiculous 290 cars in FH5...partly because I'd misread a trophy description. Instead of 1 manufacturer bonus from one with 25 cars, I'd read it as 25 manufacturer bonuses, and was wondering why it hadn't popped when I'd got at least 50
