DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Warriors: Abyss. Enjoyed it and managed to plat it before it had outstayed it's welcome..too much

message 5002: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Congrats. After a slow start to the year, the plats are starting to come thick and fast again.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, when I'd hit the 250 mark, I'd lost the urge to plat for a bit. But now I'm creeping closer to 300 (281), it's returning a little. Still, going to try and avoid any grubby ones (for the time being at least ;) )

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'm just noticing Warriors: Abyss has a PS4 version as well....do i drive myself crazy while I decide what to play next, or leave it for some other time....

message 5005: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Knowing you, you'll drive yourself crazy ;)

I've got one eye on the 275 milestone but still a ways to go yet. I'm trying to avoid grubbies too and the ones I am working on are slow burners to say the least.

I think you'll hit 300 before I reach 275

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments As suspected, more Warriors Abyss. Might pick up Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii tomorrow, so it'll keep me going till then

Error | 408 comments I did download and start Avowed. I'm very early on, but it is quite enjoyable so far imo. The combat has a bit of a learning curve - it's faster and more dodge based than I expected. I wasn't loving the first person perspective so I changed to third. This made the combat feel better for me. Also, the story revolves around your character being a "godlike" with a unique physical appearance...kind of nice to be able to see them.

Story feels a bit like Greedfall so far...that's a plus in my book.

I’ve started Avowed. About 3 hours in. So far got to say I’m really enjoying it. Love the combat - especially the spells - and the world exploration. Story isn’t doing anything for me but everything else is a lot of fun. Great artwork and graphics not too bad. Frame rate not so great but it’s not spoiling it too much. It definitely has its hooks me. Can’t wait to get back to it.

message 5009: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments As someone that went in without any preconceived notions of what the game was supposed to be, Avowed offers an intriguing new world to explore and get lost in. Just a very solid new experience with familiar design.

I will say I've had a bunch of hard crashes, so hopefully that gets patched out soon.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Might have done something completely daft and picked up the universally unacclaimed... Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. Plagued by connection issues in a game which requires it, and by a developer & publisher that ain't likely to sustain it, especially if it's been a flop....Yet still feel the need to give it a go ;)

More Avowed for me. About 8 hours in. Best game I’ve played in a while. I think because I don’t play many RPGs it feels like a refreshing change. I mean I have played the likes of Fallout 3/4/NV, Mass Effect 1-3, Skyrim, Fable 1-3, Outer Worlds but that was a while ago. Avowed though absolutely loving it. Not one crash or bug yet either. It’s not a perfect game - it could do with some polish in certain aspects - but for fun and world immersion 10/10. Prefer it to Skyrim even if Skyrim might be technically the better game.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Skyrim technically better....love the game but it's so full of bugs and holes....that despite numerous different versions.... not selling it well R...to most. Sounding maybe worth a look, if/when it appears on PS. From what it sounds Starfield may be the next one though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And I think I'm going to demand my money back for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown lol. First screen - you need to create an account to enjoy "all" the features....bullsheet.. you can't play at all without one. Pay money, insist you sign up to their own account...so they can sell your info to numerous others for "legitimate" reasons....and all for a budget game at a premium price...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Lol getting annoyed by everything at the minute. Went on to the PS website to look at how to get refunds....the links give no option other than to talk to a chatbot which apparently needs a full name just to ask a blooming question.... Kind of hypocritical considering the method I'm complaining in, but I really hate the Internet and it's completely exploiting nature

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And the chatbot says noooo you ain't getting nowt because you've downloaded and loaded it sucker, and we'll not give a contact number or email address to complain....

Sigh...maybe it's time I gave up gaming and became a useful member of society ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Thought I'd found an email address to moan to...address no longer exists....it really is BS that I have to jump through so many hoops just to even find someone to talk to on something that I've paid for....

Maybe I'll join Trump in trying to destabilise the world, probably more fun than I'm having at the minute ;)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments And search for complaints on the PS website - Sorry we have found 0 results for complaints....ignore everyone and I guess there are none...yet they seem to have a separate filter for praise...strange that...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments The praise bit...not on their website but you get the point. Seriously considering cancelling my ps+ sub even if I'm only the bare minimum. Was considering upgrading but yeah, not a chance now

Technically better after 6 months of patches then. I was more meaning if you steal, attack some random NPC, stab a chicken nothing happens in Avowed - no consequence - not very RPG in that sense. Plus the enemies are not very varied.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Stabbing random chickens R..tut, tut ;) The RSPB will be wanting answers

My Avowed character fancied a bit of fried chicken. He was surprised to see chickens are invincible but walking mushrooms are not. Crazyness.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Well, he don't look like no chicken chaser to me, but then again I ain't never met one

message 5023: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Morning all. I tried to download the PS4 version of Wreckfest over the weekend but couldn't find any option to do so. I 'bought' it via PS+ (I think) and played the PS5 version. Normally I'd go to the game again and there'd be an option to switch versions but I can't see that there is. Very odd and highly irritating.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Mostly playing Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and mostly enjoying. Not completely convinced by Majima as the protagonist, and prefer the turn based combat of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth. But overall, seems to be another solid Yakuza game

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Making good progress in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Pretty much just the main story left trophy wise plus one optional post game boss (which is guaranteed to be a pain if the other games are anything to go by). Possibly have it finished up by the weekend

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Or maybe sooner...Ping! Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Not bad, generally enjoyed it, but don't think it's their best effort

message 5027: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Congrats. That was quick. I thought the Yakuza games were ridiculously long. Or is it more of a spin off and so shorter?

I need to crack on, on the plat front. I started the year well but have slowed down quite a bit.

I see Dragon Age: Veilguard (or should that be Failguard) is already a PS+ Essentials game. Obviously shoe horning pronoun nonsense worked out well for them in terms of game sales. Marginally better than it did for Concord I guess.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yeah, I apparently managed to squeeze in 53 hours of it....in less than a week ;)

Was surprised to see Veilguard on PS+ already. Was half tempted to go back to it, as there's not really too much wrong with it, gameplay wise. but I dont know.... felt it was a little uninspiring. Think it's one I'll find to be very dull unless I'm in the mood

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Since I finished up quicker than expected, I've no idea what's next. Think I'll likely pick up Monster Hunter Wilds tomorrow anyway, despite thinking I'd probably enjoy it more when it's significantly cheaper. Though might pick up Two Point Museum later instead,...or as well

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I'd thought about going back to the PS4 version of Art of Rally to polish off the last trophy....but it reset all the counters, so I'd have to start the 1000 stages trophy from scratch. Kind of put me off.

Not really in the mood to go back to the Warriors Abyss PS4 plat attempt either, I'll leave that one a few months at least. So yeah, think there'll be a hawing sooner rather than later

message 5031: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments I've spent a decent amount of time with Avowed at this point. I think it's a really fun game. Combat is great fun (I'm wielding magic and a mace). Characters are generally interesting and well-acted. You have Dragon Age style companion banter. Yes, NPCs don't move and you can't make chicken wings. It's a curated experience, and imo better for it.

I am wondering if my Xbox is on its way out though - I'm still having the occasional hard crash. If others are not, it doesn't bode well for my video game future.

I’ve played around 13 hours of Avowed, Error. Not one single crash for me and otherwise no bugs whatsoever. Like you really enjoying it.

Error | 408 comments Maybe I can just clean the thing out...better watch some Youtube vids before the thing catches fire...

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I see Forza Horizon 5 has a PS release date now - 29th April

message 5035: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I was just coming on here to say that Deck. Or preorder the premium addition and play on the 25th.

I've only been waiting 12-13 years, what's another 4 days?

message 5036: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments I've preordered the standard addition of Forza Horizon 5. At the very least I'll be able to download it early ready to binge on the 29th April. I might even book the day off work too.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments I reckon I should have stuck more than 5 minutes into the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. Forgot how frustrating Monster Hunter games can be if you aren't fully in the mood. Seem to remember having differing amounts of fun depending on weapon choice in the others I've played, so will likely have to mess about for a while to see

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'll polish off the Warriors Abyss PS4 plat first. Hit 15 of the 20 completions last night, so a couple of hours should push me over the edge. Definitely easier when you know what you are doing, the last 2 trophies are likely to be the failure related ones... which definitely wasn't the case in the PS5 run

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ping! Warriors Abyss PS4.

Now what...don't think I'm really in the mood for Monster Hunter or Two Point Museum at the minute, so I'm drawing a blank. Even reinstalled A Plague Tale Innocence, I'm that desperate ;) Had a look at how far I'd got in the PS4 version, and looks like I'd not even got to chapter 4 before dosing off. Might have a look at a trophy guide, and if it's straightforward, then maybe, maybe......maybe get bored after 6 minutes instead of 5 ;) That said, I've not many other ideas for alternatives

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Stuck about 16 hours into Monster Hunter Wilds so far...16 expletive filled hours. Not that there's anything wrong with it, Monster Hunter just tends to be endlessly frustrating. Addictive though

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Got to the end credits surprisingly quickly in MH Wilds. Not one I'd even think about platting, so will be looking for something else shortly. I'll keep it installed and mess about with the post story stuff fir a while

message 5042: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Here's something I never thought I'd type out, but...

Ping! Aliens: Colonial Marines

Yes, the 2013 GOTY contender on PS3 ;)

This is another one where I saw a PSNP session and joined not expecting much. However, I found someone from the UK to coop the campaign on Badass difficulty and not knock out most of the 80 odd challenges in the game. Strangely the servers are still on for this and work perfectly fine so we were able to boost the MP stuff. It was the only way to be sure.

Myself and this guy are now looking at cooping Sniper Elite 3 on authentic difficulty to potentially bag another 'plat from the dead', although I'd still have plenty of work on misc trophies.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Congrats on the Colonial Marines plat. It's one I've a soft spot for despite the rest of the world seemingly hated. Don't think it was half as bad as it was made out to be. Not sure how well it would have aged though, and definitely weird the server is still up

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I might download both Sonic and Turtles PS+ games, for a change of pace

message 5045: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments Cheers Deck. I quited liked Aliens too. It could have been much better in terms of graphics but gameplay wise it was pretty good. There were some great MP modes that 99% of players wouldn't have looked at. I only looked at them as they were useful for boosting certain challenges.

The campaign is fully playable in coop too which is always good.

The sound design was top notch, mainly as all the sound effects and music are pulled straight from the films. There is no better weapon sound than the pulse rifle and no sound more likely to scare me than the motion tracker detecting something xenomorph shaped.

message 5046: by Equinox80 (new)

Equinox80 | 665 comments The PS+ Sonic and Turtles games are meant to be fairly straight forward plats. Turtles more so as there is some kind of exploit that can be used. I'll add them to my library at the very least.

One crash for me now after around 17 hours. I’m nearly at the end of the campaign, probably only another couple of hours to go. I might even play it again - I’ve loved it. Although I might try DragonAge on ps plus first.

message 5049: by Error (new)

Error | 408 comments 17hrs and you are finishing up the game? I'm at 25 and I'm just finishing up the second region...

I did change the game to performance mode which has cut down on crashes significantly.

I’m not a see and do everything kind of gamer. I’ve done some side quests and companion quests and near the end of the campaign after about 20 hours - probably underestimated how much I had left. I hope like most open or semi-open world games you can continue doing side quests after completing the campaign, as I normally do that if I’m enjoying a game, I go back and do a bit more.
