Reading faster

Hi everyone!

I’m really slow reader I read like 25 pages an hour so if anyone have like tips or advice for read faster I hope you leave a comment.

Hello :-) My honest opinion is that this (25-30 pages) is enough because it's better to enjoy the journey than destination. Especially when you also want to Mark some interesting quotes. Plus, it also depends on the genres, themes, size of a page, content within it (narration, descriptions, running plot and dialogues) and number of pages within each chapter

thank u, I know that the purpose of the book is enjoying it but I think that 25 pages is too low. again thank you so much😊

Bruno is right! I'm a fairly slow reader myself, I was a much faster reader when I was younger and I honestly miss these times, but in the end it's not about speed but about enjoying what you read :)

There are some methods for reading faster like skimming descriptive/unimportant passages and focusing on direct speech etc, but I personally can't do that. I want to read every word haha

I know what you mean by it, Anni :-). For example, Love in the Time of Cholera is by Marquez is a difficult book to just storm by it, since those few chapters are so stretched that the Reader can't be sure to pause. We're talking about a book of 320 pages, filled from one side of a page to another, so it wouldn't be recommendable to read it just within a week

Have you tried audiobooks? I know that they're not everyone's cup of tea but you can get through books quicker using audiobooks :)

I have to read slow bc my brain sees everything like a movie so characters pause for breath or idk, walk across the room... I mean even my thoughts and people talking to me, depending on what they're talking about it can be really weird... but as I understand it, people read basically without characters inflections, like just nonstop reading across each line, noting periods and who says what etc. but that's how someone described it to me

.i tried them before but i couldn't focus , but i have to try them

Find a subject or genre you enjoy or find a writing style that you find easiest to read. Obviously, this isn't going to be the same for all books but I find that I've read so much poetry I can read novels in verse pretty fast (400 pages in 2 hours) and I like darker texts so I can read a novel with a dark subject matter in an hour.

If it's a focus thing then find some music that doesn't have lyrics. That Lo-Fi Hip Hop study music on YouTube actually really helps my focus but maybe you like something else.

That's really great! And yeah I think it's about focusing , music help.

I noticed that the more I read, the faster I became at reading. Although, it does depend on the type of book. I can read a 300 page urban fantasy in a day, but a 600 page history book takes me forever.

I noticed that to but, my favorite thing about reading books is learning new vocabulary words
