"Yeah, we probably should." Mateo says and gets up from the sofa with a sigh.

Bella joined Mateo getting up from the sofa. They started walking to leave when Bella turned back around. "Sorry, I forgot my book." She quickly got her book and ran to catch up with Mateo.

Mateo holds out his hand for her. "Ready? We can always come back here if you want to get away. It very cozy in here, after all."

She smiled. "It is cozy here." Bella takes his hand in hers.

Mateo opens the library doors, the scent of the aged paper hitting his nose like a sweet perfume. "You ready?" he asks Bella behind him.
Bella nods excitedly. "Yes!" She walked into the library next to him and took his hand again.
Mateo leads her to the back of the library where there is an old, narrow staircase. It appeared to lead up to some kind of attic.
Bella looks from the staircase to Mateo and back. "Where does it lead?"
"You'll see." Mateo says and begins to walk upstairs. At the top of the stairs was an attic, as it appeared to be, but it seemed as if Mateo had made it his home. "This is where they kept the books no one read anymore. I've read every last one of them." he says. He point over at a large window on the far wall, edged and surrounded by pillows and blankets. "That, right there, is the only place I can read."
Bella lets go of his hand and slowly turns around to take in the whole room. "Mateo this place is amazing! And you've read every book?!" Bella walks over to the window and sit's down. "How did you find this place?"
"Well, bored little ten year old Mateo was wandering around the library and decided to go up the stairs." he says and sits next to Bella.
Bella smiles. "Well I'm glad 10 year old Mateo found this place." Bella laid her head on his shoulder and set the pie in her lap.
"Me too." he says and places his pie down in front of him. "The view from up here is spectacular. Look." he tells Bella and wipes the condensation off the window.
Bella turns around and stares out the window. You could see the garden but it had started raining, which caused the view to be blurred. "I love rain. Back home when it would rain I would drag my siblings out to run around and dance in it." Bella smiled at the thought.
"Really? Me too." he says softly and smiles. "I wouldn't dance, though. I would sit in puddles and look at the drops coming down."
She turned to him and smiled back. "Then maybe you should try dancing in it."
"Maybe I will." he says and takes a bite of his pie.
"You should." She turned back around and picked up her pie. This is amazing! thought Bella, as she took a bite.
Mateo looks out the window. "When I was younger, I would stare out this very window when I would read and pretend I was somewhere else...somewhere where I was the adventurous hero and not a palace boy."
Bella put's the pie down. She knew all too well what it was like to be lonely even though she had siblings, but she couldn't imagine how Mateo felt. Being alone in the palace. She gave him a small simile. "You are the adventurous hero. Chef Dimples right?" She wanted to see him smile.
Mateo chuckles. "No, I mean like the ones in the story books. Though, Chef Dimples would be a spectacular hero, I'm no Gandalf."
Bella grins. "Chef Dimples would be amazing." She gave him a quick kiss and laid her head on his shoulder and sighed.
"Tell me a story. Any story." Mateo requests and takes another bite.
Bella thinks for a moment. "Oh!' She sit's up and faces Mateo. "There is a moral to this story. When I was 16 and my brother was 12 he started tickling me. He didn't know how ticklish I was and I couldn't take it anymore. My face was red and my side hurt. I was fighting against his hands and I went to kick my leg and kicked him in the groin. I made him tray's and tray's of cookies after that to show him I was sorry." Bella grinned and giggled at the memory. "This shows you what will happen if you tickle me. Or if anyone tickles me."
"Oh, I see...if I tickle you, I get lots of cookies!" Mateo says and snickers.
Bella smile and rolls her eyes. "That wasn't the point of the story but yes, you would."
"Interesting..." Mateo says and takes another bite. "Tell me another. You're a fantastic story-teller."
Bella shakes her head. "Later. Your turn." She leans back against the window.
"Alright, fine. Umm...one year for Faye's birthday, I made the most beautiful cake. It was three tiers and decorated in pulled sugar flowers and iced with her favorite color. But I wanted to prank her, so I made and extra cake that was only one tier. When the time came, I brought out the one tier cake and dropped it on purpose. Of course, everyone was freaking out until our Pa rolled in the gorgeous three tier cake. Faye was so overwhelmed, she cried." he tells Bella, smiling at the memory.
"I wish I could have seen the cake." She smiles at the story and takes a bite of her pie and set's the plate down. "What do you want to do?"
"Whatever you want to do." Mateo replies and gazes out the window at the gray rain.
"Wanna go dance in the rain?" Bella ask's.
Mateo smiles. "Yeah. Might as well finally do it."
Bella grins and takes his hand. "Let's go." She drags him out of the library to her room.

Mateo takes Bella's hand and leads her back up to his secret loft. His hair was still damp and curly from playing in the rain.
Once they arrived in the secret room Bella sat down by the window again, eyeing the shelf's of books.
Leo walked through the library carrying a stack of books.
