Personality: Katniss is probably one of the most cheerful people you will ever meet. She sees the good in almost every situation, and is practically a all of sunshine and optimism, which admittedly can annoy a lot of people around her. This is to say, she recognizes that bad things happen in life, but believes people can learn from them and that things will somehow, in some way, get better.
She is open and honest and hardworking and absolutely loves her caste as a 5, where she can follow in her parents' footsteps as a dancer. She understands that the caste system keeps people in line and believes whole-heartedly in the monarchy.
As a romantic, Katniss was thrilled when she was Selected, and dreams of marrying the prince for love, and the only thing that would make her slightly sad if she won is that she would leave her caste 5 behind.
Compassionate and kind, Katniss wants to make friends, as many as she can, but never attended school or had enough money for a tutor, so instead has two family friends who are like extended family to the Laughlin's. She still likes to talk and make friends with any new people; however, she doesn't always have the best luck because she can be so cheerful and eager to meet people it turns others away.
Katniss is sensitive, and when anyone does say something hurtful it does deeply offend her, but she is not afraid to stand up to that person and make her opinion and defense known, and will do it for others, whether or not she knows them. She's a total extravert and loves her younger sister and parents, but has a strained relationship with her older brother, and is frustrated with her parents, the one spot in life, her family, being a darker topic for her and one she can get down about.
History/story: Katniss was born in Carolina to her parents, who already had a son, Merrick, to caste 5. Both parents were dancers, and they hoped that their children would follow in that path. Their home is small, but not horribly uncomfortable, and Katniss grew up happy with it, never seeking more out of her life.
She showed an early interest in dance as she liked to watch her parents perform, while Merrick, her older brother by about 4 years, took more an interest in sculpting and painting. At first, he and his sister got along with him playing the protective older brother trope, but eventually Katniss annoyed him with her excessive chatter, following him everywhere, etc., and he snapped at her when she was twelve and told her she was annoying and that he didn't love her, also devastated because she had their parents' clear favor over him.
So they began to not talk unless they had to, and it was unfortunate true that their parents loved their daughter more than their son, and when they had Bella, Katniss's younger sister, they doted on her more than Merrick, too, leaving him even more jealous and angry.
The atmosphere is full of tension in the house when Merrick is around, and Katniss has died to get her parents to explain why they favor the girls over him, but they won't provide an explanation, and while Katniss desperately loves her brother even though h hurt her, and wants to be his friend again, he won't let her in, which hurts her.
Like her parents, she dances, and began to bee hired at parties and audition for professional dance shows, taking lessons all as a child, and is very good at what she does. She never had a relationship with anyone save for crushes, but desires one day to love someone, and eagerly entered her name in the Selection.
Katniss wants to repair her family's relationship and get to the bottom of why her parents have her brother as a least favorite child, but they act like they never know what she's talking about when she asks them, and Merrick won't speak to her almost at all and was glad when she left for the Selection, even though he personally believes she'll be gone and back home within a week.
Her parents really are jerks with favoritism, and her mom always wanted girls only because she never liked her own brothers, and she married Katniss's father just for extra income. They fight a lot, and Katniss has to deal with that, too, even though she retains a cheerful, hopeful outlook on life.

History/story: Vivienne Dejoria is a 18-year-old teenager who enjoys cycling, cookery and binge-watching boxed sets. She is creative and genrous, but can also be very stubborn and a bit standoffish.
She is an American Christian who defines herself as bisexual. She is currently at school.
Physically, Vivienne is in pretty good shape. She is tall with brown skin, black wavy hair and light grey eyes.

Personality: Kieran Adler is a 21-year-old who enjoys reading and travelling. He is ambitious and brave, but can also be very stubborn and a bit rude. This is due to his past which he keeps to himself and hasn’t been revealed yet to anyone. Also if you catch him off guard he is a soft boi uwu 🥺
History/story: Kirean had a pretty rough start in his life. His father was sent to jail after he tried stealing for his starving family. His mother, who was devastated at the news had no choice but to send Kirean to a boarding school until she could afford for a stable life for them. Kirean fell numb to emotion after that. He is mad at his mother for sending him so far from home his father for,leaivng him even though it wasn’t his fault, and himself for feeling this way. Kirean worked his way up to become a butler for the Prince, he was paid much more than his parents salary originally; it was enough for his mother to have a good life. Kieran and his mother at the moment are not on speaking terms.

Personality: Sarcastic, doesn't take any crap, intelligent, witty, bookworm
History/story: She grew up as a Four, but her uncle and his family were Twos. Since they were very giving towards them, they were blessed with a large farm and fully bellies every night. Dakota knew she was very privileged, so she spent a lot of time helping others on smaller farms. She would make sure they were able to pull in a plentiful harvest that would feed their family, their neighbors, their animals, and still have enough to donate to their quota that is given to the rest of the country.
Due to her caste, she wasn't always able to get proper schooling. Her cousins were Twos, so they taught her what they knew. Soon enough, she became the one teaching them. She was a gifted poet and reader, and had a knack for creativity. Her love for poetry and writing grew with every passing day.
When she received her letter, she was not eager to join. She despised entitled people, and she feared the princes and royal family would be just that. Though, after hours of thought and consideration, she figured the checks home would help both her family and her neighbors who were struggling while she was gone. She submitted her name and information, knowing her chances were slim. When her name was announced on the Report, she was both devastated and overjoyed. She didn't want to leave her family and her farm, but the extra money would help them for sure.

History/story: Jackie was born and raised in northern Bonita. Her mother passed away shortly after her younger sister was born, leaving her father to raise the three kids on his own. He taught his kids all the different careers and trade. Jackie took up the trade of art and painting and discovered that she was a natural.
When Jackie submitted her name for the Selection, she knew how slim her chances were. Even if she was Selected, she didn't think she had much chance with the princes. There has never been a Five as a queen, let alone a black queen. She was excited to go to the palace when her name was drawn, but she still when there with doubt in her head.

by some miracle, gracelin was chosen as a selected. who knows how, but she actually made it. many in her family suspected that she somehow rigged the votes. regardless, even with her family of thieves, gracelin snagged a spot as one of the 50 girls.

History/story: She grew up being raised to one day work at her family's business. They owned a woodworking shop, where they carved, whittled, and constructed fine works made from wood everyday. At first, Auburn was in charge of cleaning up shavings and delivering them to a nearby farm, but she soon started to work with the wood. She designed elaborate jewelry and started include precious, colorful stones into her pieces.
Auburn's piece will reflect her emotions and her random inspirations. Her creative and gentle nature made her a natural artist. She soon became her family's support. When her older brother was killed, Auburn became extremely depressed. Her pieces became darker and more intricate, perfectly reflecting her emotions. history: Life as a five isn't always easy, as Astrid quickly learned. However, her parents did their best to keep her and her siblings fed and clothed. Astrid was five when her mother, Charlotte, first started teaching her how to sing and play piano. From then on, Astrid sang and performed at small parties and shows. When she was eight, Astrid sold her first painting, one of the sun rising over snow, a sight she has seen often enough living in Whites, a notoriously cold province. One day when Astrid was twelve, she lost a big show because she was late, losing money that would have helped her family in so many ways. Her father yelled at her and hit her, cutting her cheek open and covering her in bruises. After that, Astrid always arrived hours in advance to her shows, fearing what would happen if she was late to another show. A few months after her nineteenth birthday, the applications for the Selection arrived, and Astrid filled hers out without a second though, hoping and praying for a chance to leave her house and her father. However, she was surprised when she was chosen, and after a few weeks she went to the castle and has been there since.
