The story opens with the murder of Doctor Gordon Cordell. Did you initially suspect it had something to do with his performing illegal abortions? Were there any clues you found useful to help identify or rule out suspects?

I thought it had something to do with the illegal abortions and the cards. I didn't have a clue who.

I didn’t think it had anything to do with illegal abortions. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I didn’t think it had anything to do with abortions.

I was sure that the Spades were targeting him for performing the illegal abortions and bringing the secret clubs to everyone's notice.

I thought it was somehow a continuation of the story with the Cards from the previous book.

I was sure it was connected to the Society (Spades) or the illegal abortions, so sure Kim & her team weren’t done with the cards.

The way all of his misfortunes were introduced, I assumed it had something to do with the Spades.
