In line with our recent discussions, I thought some of you might like a light-hearted read I created when the first attempt to discover the 'God Particle' failed at CERN in 2008. I wrote 3 short books and then combined them into a single publication - I should warn you that it's in dire need of editing but I hope that doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the tongue in cheek satire across the themes reflected in our group.

A description follows below and the free offer runs from tomorrow - 14th until & including 18th June (US time zones).

I am currently reading group member, Khira Allen's excellent book ‘Songbird of Ascension' and whilst I'm not seeking to make a comparison (her's is far better written), and I don't wish to give any spoilers, the journey of Khira's protagonist inspired me to offer "Book" to our group.

A SIMPLE TALE OF SUBATOMIC PARTICLE METAPHYSICS

In the summer of 2008, a long awaited scientific experiment was started at the CERN particle accelerator near Geneva. The experiment involved the high-speed collision of subatomic particles and the objective was to prove the existence of the Higgs boson, more commonly known as 'The God Particle'.

To the great disappointment of the worldwide scientific community and the relief of many people who were concerned that this experiment might trigger a reaction that would destroy our planet, a technical hitch caused the experiment to be abandoned at the crucial moment.

Book is the first episode in a humorous journey that began in the chaos of that failed experiment.

God Particles; both elusive and mysterious, contain properties we are only on the brink of understanding. So their ability to evolve into intelligent beings and dramatically affect our life on this planet should come as no surprise. That's not quite how the humans in this story see it!

I'm interested. I need to finish a short book, then get started on Khira's book, Songbird Ascension as well as Chat. I did break some major log jams w/respect to my website (mobile phase -- soon to come) and some other burning issues so I should have more time.

I'm curious as to Peter's thoughts on the quantum world. The Higgs Boson is fascinating to me as that entity which largely gives us the very property of mass!

That's great, Michael, please bear in mind it's light-hearted treatment!

If you download it while it's on free offer, you can read it at your leisure.

Khira Thanks Peter - both for your kind words about my book and for letting us know about 'Book - The God Particle Series'. What a great premise - to explore potential intelligence evolving from Higgs boson particles. I love the sheer scope of the idea.

I hope those of you who have downloaded it, enjoy 'Book' - there's a couple of days left for those who haven't yet!

Khira - we clearly both saw the potential for life inside the web! ;)
