The Old Man and the Sea, On the Road, and Lord of the Flies are probably my most hated three. My partner will occasionally set me up to go on about Hemingway because it amuses him to hear how much I can't stand him or his writing.

It used to be Dancing Cats of Applesap by Janet Taylor Lisle. It was the first book that I remember really disliking (but now I can't tell you why as that was back in fourth or fifth grade). And I can give you a one sentence reason for The Swiss Family Robinson: It is dated and the white savior father no longer flies.
