The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 6 - Q&A, Tracking & Announcements

My youngest sister is a photographer by trade. I love her work. And I really really really need her to take some stock photos for me for my blog and bookstagram :-)

If a book has an initial publication date with no day (8, 18, 28) for the publication date but the main book page does and it has an 8 in it, will that book work?"
I am not sure I am following what you are asking. For this task, you would use the initial publication date - if there is a date at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I would be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualifying date. If the earliest date is month/year only - that is what I will be using.

Would an author's known pseudonym count for "new to me"
As in - I've read Bella Michael's books, but I know she also writes under Cecelia Mecca AND C.L. Mecca neither of whom I haven't read.
Bella writes contemporary romance. Cecelia writes historicals. C.L. Mecca writes paranormals.
Could I read a C.L book or a Cecelia book and have those count as "new to me"?

if it helps any - I know of three colleges who issue this degree as a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts)
However, I also know of at least one large university who issues this degree as a BS (Bachelors of Science) but under the school of Social Science and Humanities which is where they lump their multi faceted degrees. Like Fashion Design.

That answers my question. Thanks!

Yes, that would work.

You would have to be new to the pseudonym. So if you had read Nora Roberts in the past, but not J.D. Robb - J.D. Robb would be a new to you author and work for this task.

I would accept interior designer as an artist.

I need to be able to clearly and obviously see that it is a tree, unfortunately that cover does not clearly show an identifiable tree. Could be branches, could be vines. 🤷🏻♀️

"If there are more than one authors, do they all have to be new to you?"
No, but if it is a well known duo or anthology combo I will be checking for the other authors on the read shelf to see if other books by the duo or combo have been read. Anthologies and books by duos are frequently listed on shelves and in the search by only one of the authors.

E is for Eight - Read a book with an 8 in the initial publication date, do not convert the month to a number.
To qualify, the initial publication date needs to be have an eight in it. Dates such as 8, 18, or 28 will work as will years like 2008 and 2018. Do not convert the month to a number so August 10, 2020 would not work. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page - use it. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.
Remember books must be 90 pages (first edition English language Kindle) and MPG Romance!!
You have until Friday, July 30 @ Midnight US EDT to post your completion(s).

Off to check!

I looked at other books by the author, she has some with larger file sizes that have page counts in the 70s and at least one with a smaller file that has a page count in the low 90s. With that kind of discrepancy, I am going to say that it won't work. Sorry.

Thanks

For all future dates in this round there will be a random number and/or month announced with the task announcement. This number and/or month will need to be included in the initial publication date or first edition Kindle page count to qualify for Scavenger Hunt Roses.
Please also be aware it is against the rules to tag books without knowing for a fact that the tag fits the book! So unless it is a reread, well into a series that you've read with repeated characters or themes, or after clarification from someone who has actually read the book - DO NOT TAG THE BOOK!!
Going forward if I find anyone tagging books with tags just so they qualify for a task without the books actually fitting the task and that book is claimed by you or anyone on your team for a SH rose, it will be disallowed.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.
Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!
You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.
L is for Lace - Read a book tagged as 'steamy' or a book with lace on the cover.
To qualify for this task, the selected books need to tagged as 'steamy', 'steam', 'hot', 'erotic' or 'erotica' ONLY or have lace on the cover. Variations of the allowed tags will be allowed in context. 'Super hot and steamy' will work, 'no steam' will not. You can use any edition's cover to qualify for the cover task, please include the qualifying cover in your your completion posts.
And I better not start seeing Christian Romance being tagged as 'steamy'!!
L is for Lack-luster - Read a book with fewer than 250 reviews.
To qualify for this task, the book needs to have fewer than 250 reviews (not ratings). You can find this information on the main book page under the title. If the book is close to no longer qualifying, for example if it has over 240 reviews when you start reading or is a newer book, a screen shot showing the qualification might be advisable.
L is for Lake - Read a book with a body of water on the cover.
To qualify for this task, the selected book's cover needs to have a body of water on the cover. The bodies of water need to occur in nature, pools and ice rinks will not count.
L is for Long - Read a book in a series of at least 5 books long.
To qualify, the selected book needs to be in a numbered series listed on GR with at least 5 books included in the series. In between books will count in the series total for this task, but to count they must be distinct works. Not all books in the series need to have been released, but an unpublished book needs to have a title and an expected release date available for it to count as one of the required books.

That will be included when I announce the task.

That will be included when I announce the task."
Awww.. okay.

Will covers with the Ocean count for Lake or do it need to be a lake or river?"
Oceans will work. Just has to be a naturally occurring body of water.

Thanks 😊

Scavenger Hunt Required Number - 4
To qualify for Scavenger Hunt Roses for Date 6, the initial publication date or the first edition Kindle page count must include the number 4. Yes and yes. There is a lot of engineering in architecture, but a lot of art too."
My husband is an architect - his degree was issued by RPI. He DOES draw (really really well) but his curriculum was very much engineering based. His job has evolved into being more of an engineering basis. He works on the building envelope, LEED certs, and other more technical items of a build.
A high school friend of mine is ALSO an architect. HIS degree is from Roger Williams in Rhode Island. His degree is VERY art based. He works with clients and in his CAD programming all day. He creates the look, feel, and original layout of the space. His focus is on space use, natural light, flow....all the things that go into the creative fine art side of being in a building.
So my husband and my friend work for the same firm.
They have the same job title. BUT my friend ONLY creates and draws up blueprints, layouts ect.
My husband's job - the Building Envelope is essentially hereviews all the blueprints and drawings for a project. He'll then make sure that the buildings meet code, all the materials slated to be used are proper for the conditions they will be used in, and that nothing is hinky (like having an intake duct directly above an exhaust duct - this ACTUALLY happened)
If my husband finds issues or if the blueprints don't bring the project to it's scope and code, he will redesign the original blueprints to incorporate additional materials, mechanic changes, environmental impacts......BUT he also has to keep the design to match the feel of the original one from the artsy architect.
A great series that covers this scope of possible areas in architecture is the Walsh Brothers. I think the first book is for Matt - Matt is a blend of the artsy architect and the building envelope/engineer architect. His specialty is historic buildings being repurposed.
It's a great series - highly recommend it.
