A Quiet Place Part 2

The movie A Quiet Place Part 2 is directed by John Krasinski and was released in May 2021. The film takes place right after the events of the first movie and is set in an Earth that is taken over by aliens. These aliens do not have eyes or good smell and they only can rely on sound to catch prey. They have very good hearing so people must be very quiet or else the aliens will kill them. The film stars Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, Cillian Murphy as Emmett, Noah Jupe as Marcus Abott, and Millicent Simmons as Regan Abbott. On a star scale of 1-5 I would give this movie a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
This film is a very good film in my opinion. It is a horror film unlike any other. Rather than the focus being on the scary monster or creature, the focus is set on the humans. The movie does not show the aliens much and when it does, they move on and off the screen very quickly. I think this is a great idea because it makes the aliens seem more scary since the audience is not yet used to seeing them. Moreover, I love the idea of experiencing events that happen in the movie as if you were in Reagan's shoes. Regan is deaf and has a hearing aid so sometimes the movie will be dead silent even if there is supposed to be a lot of noise which makes the movie even scarier. For example, if a monster is running towards Regan, the movie will put you into her shoes and you cannot hear it running towards her at all. I want to add that every actor in this movie had an outstanding performance. There is a part in the movie where Marcus steps into a bear trap by accident and his reaction to it is very convincing. It is as if I also stepped into a bear trap because I can feel the pain with him through his performance. Also, Emmett had a moment where he felt guilty and horrible for something that he did, and you truly feel for him and want to tell him that it's gonna be ok. Lastly, I want to say that the movie is also unlike other horror movies in that the main characters are make smart decisions rather than do dumb stuff that will get them killed. The characters have made lots of precautions for if something were to happen and they have expertly picked out places to live where the monsters can't hear them and where they have plenty of resources to live off of. This is cool because it shows that even the smart characters are not smart enough to avoid the aliens. It makes them seem even more dangerous.

I liked the first movie and was excited to hear that there was going to be another movie coming out. I have not had a chance to see it yet, but do plan to. You made a great point about the movie not being about the monsters per say but the characters. I think what makes a good movie is the valuable lessons we can learn about relationships, community, dedication, selflessness. I think communication is highlighted the most, because of the lack of noise that is needed in order to survive.
