Benjamin (ben21) Does no one bother to read the books anymore? Or has this just turned into another bs wanna be fool club?

I'm a little bit confused by this question. We're here because we love Stephen King. I've read almost everything he's written, as have most people here. Those who haven't are new to him and are getting there.

So far, both of your two post have been questioning the group and its motives rather than discussing anything to do with Stephen King or his books, so there's my confusion, because you're questioning the group at large for not talking about and/or reading the books, yet from what I can tell, you haven't posted anything relevant by your own standard.

If you want to have a discussion about the books, there are any number of past group reads and book threads to choose from. Take your pick. :)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments Benjamin -- I cannot for the life of me figure out what on earth you are complaining about --- and I suspect I'm not alone in this perplexity -- More than a lot of other book clubs I've had experience with, this particular one DOES stay on topic -- I mean, we do go off on arguments occasionally, but the arguments are normally occasioned by the heart of the book (or story ) itself - e.g. Quitters, Inc. a few weeks ago.

What is it you want?

message 5: by Lonnie (new)

Lonnie there's a name for people like Benjamin, though I can't think of it at this point. They jump on a discussion make some stupide statement to try to get people riled up and then never show back up.

He'll go away either quietly or he'll flame out and get banned. Happens every time.

Troll-- in the dungeons-- thought you ought to know. (sorry for the random Harry Potter reference guys, I tried to control myself. Really I did :) It's just that encountering trolls in 'real life' always makes me burst out with HP)

Dragonladylisa | 1 comments I read The Shining as a teenager and I'm still puzzled by Danny's doctor telling his parents that it should be obvious why his invisible playmate was named Tony. Any thoughts?

message 17: by Lonnie (new)

Lonnie wasn't Danny his middle name. Anthony Daniel Torrance?

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I totally want to watch Beauty and the Beast RIGHT NOW.

But I can't. I don't own it. And it's not the 50th anniversary so Disney's hoarding it. Jerks. :*(

There's a re-release (tentatively) scheduled for Spring of 2010 which will include a Blu-Ray release, and then the year after that (to coincide with the 25th Anniv. of the movie) the 3D theatrical release- the same treatment that the Toy Story movies just got (It's my favorite Disney movie so I'm very excited!!!). If you want it, buy it quickly... Vaulted movies are usually available for only a couple of months before they are re-vaulted.

I do own Beauty & the Beast, and watched it just the other day. My grand daughter stayed with us this week. We watched B&B, Little Mermaid, & Aladdin. Went to see Toy Story double feature as well.

I love Disney movies! LOVE THEM! I went to the theater and watched Toy Story 1&2 in 3D and it was fun! Yes I went alone... but it's all good!

I too have all my disney movies on VHS from when I was a kid. Who can get rid of those?

message 27: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I have them all too! They are so big, because they are in those clamshell boxes, but, like Ang said, how can you just toss them? I have quite a few on DVD as well, but even those, I keep the VHS.
