This is a collection of inter0-linked stories told from the perspective of young girls whose families have migrated to the US from China. Sometimes, the stories tell of the same story but from the different points of view of the characters involved. The stories were often raw, and told of dysfunctional families, leaving the reader feeling uncomfortable at times. As always with a short story collection, there were some stories that were stronger than others, but Zhang is definitely an author I will watch out for in future.
