Here's an interview with Alia Trabucco Zeran that does include spoilers, but is a good window into the author, Chile, and writing in general:https://www.huellasmag.com/en-blog/in...
I have the book sitting here, but I want to finish reading my current book before starting. So, hopefully I'll start it in a few days.I have a copy because I bought the "Year of Publishing Women" set from And Other Stories & this was one of the books. My book club read most of the books last year, but we didn't get to this one so I'm looking forward to it.
I read this book in April 2019. I had forgotten what it was about so had to reread my review, which helped some. It did make me realize how little I knew about the history of Chile. I planned to remedy that with a trip to Chile in April 2020, but that trip has now been postponed twice!
Heh, counting down 3 chapters, the tone reminds me of Confessions Of An Argentine Dirty Warrior: A Firsthand Account Of Atrocity https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7..., especially Filipe's part of the story.
Great, looking forward to discussing the book with everyone! Linda, I hope you get to take that trip eventually!
I read the book back in 2019 when it was shortlisted for the International Booker prize - if I can find my copy I may try and reread it, but I can probably remember quite a lot about it anyway.
Just read an interview of the author conducted by the translator:http://southwestreview.com/the-line-b...
"Three young people caught up in the undertow of history. "

I haven't read much from Chile and this is her debut novel, so I was excited for some new reading. Who else will be joining the discussion this month?
The book has been on my radar since being short listed for the Man Booker, so I appreciate the push to finally read it.
