I really enjoyed this book! I was hooked! The world Leigh Bardugo built was well created. It was believable. I liked that there were different orders/groups of powers and it wasn’t everybody had all the types of power. Her characters are well rounded and I didn’t hate the main character, Alina. Some main character “savior” types can just be awful with the “woe is me, I’m the only one that can save the world” behavior. I didn’t find that with Alina. Did anyone truly trust the Darkling when he appeared? I thought he was hiding something but I wasn’t expecting that he was the Black Heretic. And Baghra as his mother, that surprised me. I don’t know if anyone else enjoyed that in the end Alina took Mal and just left everyone in the dark in the middle of the Shadow Fold. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series!
