In the first case..

So length = x = x-5
breath = y = 3+y

Area =
(x-5)(3+y) = (xy)-9
xy+3x−5y−15 = xy−9
3x−5y−6=0

In the second case =

If we increase the length by 3 units and the breadth by 2 units, the area increases by 67 square units

Length = x + 3
Breadth = y+2

Area =
xy+67=(x+3)(y+2)
xy+67=xy+2x+3y+6
2x+3y−61=0

So we have 2 equations..

3x−5y−6=0
2x+3y−61=0

By substitution, we can solve it

3x−5y−6=0
x = 5y+6/3

Substitute value of x in the second equation

When we substitute we will have only 1 variable and hence you will be able to solve it :)

Then when you get the value of y....substitute in equation 1 to get x

Ans...x value is 17
y value is 9
