thanks to y’all’s votes, we have our june 2021 second book pick: the song of achilles by madeline miller! i’m so excited to hear what you guys think (and, to first time readers, so excited for you in general fgjkahkjhd). tsoa is a mlm historical fantasy retelling of the trojan war, specifically achilles and patroclus, featuring a bisexual main character and a gay love interest!

as june is pride month, we’re also hosting a pride month readathon, which focuses on making sure all lgbtq+ identities and represented! i hope you’ll be able to join us in reading ✨

It really is such a tearjerker, absolutely compliments to the chef, what a book this is 👏

I really enjoyed the first half of the book, but the second half felt a bit rushed, and I felt that it lacked the emotion that was present in the first half. There was so much emotional buildup in the first half, but it just sort of goes to nothing in the second half??? I don’t know if I’m making sense😂

I love their relationship though, and I hope to find love like that someday! ❤️

totally valid! i think miller’s writing is kind of hit or miss as far as emotion goes, based mostly on the reader’s personal preference. i’m glad you enjoyed it though!
