xavier | 54 comments ((Could we just play it out? I’m pretty interested in how this will turn out))

Aelin jumped in her seat, startled as her books fell to the floor. She managed to stop the inevitable loud noise by grabbing them up right before it was too late, slowly putting them on the small stool beside her as she looked at the snake that had suddenly appeared in front of her. She got out of her chair and crouched down in front of it, a smile on her face when she held her hand out.
As someone who regularly practiced magic, there were two options. Either someone was playing a prank on her - if so, they seemed to be very good at what they did as the loveless creature looked alike to the ones she had seen at home next to where her adopted mother worked at the funeral home - and didn’t know that she spent all of middle school begging her family to let her have a rattlesnake after learning to handle the ones her cousin let her hold and sort of take care of, or - and this was the less likely option as venomous snakes usually did not appear in libraries, the nope rope had found it’s way inside through an open window somewhere inside the large space where books lined the walls.
Either way Aelin didn’t mind as one; she loved to see magic no matter what it was, and two, she equally loved creatures that most people didn’t like very much as they were slimy or crawly or something equally unappealing. And so she let her hand stay where it was, inches away from the snake, and watched to see what it would do.

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((of course!))

Hannah chuckled softly, watching as the girl dropped her books and jumped a little. Already, this was--wait, what? She stared, watching in shock as the girl actually got up and went almost face to face with it.
Most people would have screamed by now, and yet this one hadn't? In fact, she looked fascinated. And held a hand out with a grin on her face. "Oh, come on," she muttered under her breath. This was just ridiculous.
This was not going according to plan at all, and Hannah set her book down in agitation and leaned even closer, watching. She took a deep breath and had the illusion-snake snarl at the girl, fangs dripping still and sharp, glistening in the moonlight coming through the windows, a lifelike sound. She then made its tail rattle with a deadly, dangerous sound, the illusion prepped to strike.

message 57: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((it's fine. And yeah we can, but since I did have her leave for another thread, I'll say for now she's in the cafeteria later, after whatever happens here in the library. So she's in two places at once but not really, I'm going to say where she is was after the library, I'll delete that she left))

xavier | 54 comments ((Hey, can Hannah cover up sound as well? Like she can control both audial and visual illusions?))

message 61: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((hmmm, I'm gonna go with yes))

message 62: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments ((Cool! And does she know species of snakes very well? Like enough to make a particular type of them?))

message 63: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((ooh good question...maybe she made like...a venomous cobra?))

message 64: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments (Sounds good! It's just that Aelin knows species of snakes on like a ranger sort of level, so that's how she would know if it was an illusion or not)

message 65: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((got it! but does she suspect it was an illusion? cause it looks lifelike))

message 66: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments ((She's the creation of a magic death goddess, so probably?))

message 68: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments (She can sense life and death energy, but magic feels a lot like the life energy / death energy of a living creature so it's still hard)

message 69: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((got it! To both of you :) ))

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((sorry haha, just replied!))

xavier | 54 comments Aelin stood up straight up and as she didn't actually know where the other presence was, sent out a wave of a magic sort of sensor, the feel of it washing over the caster of an illusion feeling warm and like how she smelled, leaving behind the scent of honey, vanilla, and lavender in Hannah's nose. She turned to where she felt she was and smiled, not a sneer or anything, just a happy smile as she was always excited to meet another magic user. "That was a really cool illusion!" She exclaimed, genuine in her words. "It took me a good second which is really impressive since I'm like a total nerd when it comes to creatures like snakes and frogs." She started, laughing lightly but still very softly like her words as they both still weren't supposed to be there. "One thing though, cobras don't have rattles." She pointed out, stepping closer to where the other female was but leaving quite enough room in between them.

ellie (rebelkitten12) Hannah was startled. Nobody called her bluffs, except her father and her uncle, of course. And this person was...happy? Excited? So much so that it made her agitated. This was supposed to get her shooting into the sky with a scream, not smiling. With an agitated snarl, Hannah dropped her illusion and glared at the girl, even though she did feel good about the fact the girl had been fooled for a second. She frowned even deeper and pushed aside some of the fabric of her dress. Of course this girl liked snakes and frogs. Too many people, apparently, did. Well, next time she'd choose something else. "Well, maybe some species of cobras do," she shot back, her first words as this other student. She was very put out right now.

xavier | 54 comments Aelin’s gaze grew brighter once the other girl dropped the illusion, showing her that she had been right. She chuckled and the corner of her mouth quirked up to make an amused grin. “Maybe somewhere out there.” She agreed with a chuckle. “Don’t worry, I also only noticed because of the energy in the corner. Oh! I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Aelin, creatio- er, daughter of The Morrighan, and it’s great to meet you! What’s your name?” She asked curiously, fixing her slip-up after realizing that normal people didn’t refer to themselves as creations. Then again, with all of her stones, and tea kettles right next to her bed, and frogs hidden on her person as she took them eight her to class back in middle school, she had hardly ever been normal.

message 75: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) "Energy? You can see energy?" Hannah asked, curious when though she shouldn't be. This girl's chipper, cheerful attitude was grating on Hannah's nerves, and she wanted more than ever to just make her stop chatting away. Aelin, that's what she said her name was. "I'm Hannah, daughter of Loki," she stated with her chin lifted. "Princess of Asgard."

message 76: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments ((OH NO I DIDN’T GET THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN I’M SO SORRY))

message 77: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) ((IT'S OKAY!!))

message 78: by xavier (new)

xavier | 54 comments Aelin nodded, calming down a bit but still wearing a smile on her face. “Yeah, kinda comes with having an Irish death goddess as a mother.” She joked, sitting back down in her chair. “It’s nice to meet you Hannah.” She spoke, not offput by her attitude at all. As a mom-friend, people like her we're exactly the type of people she liked to befriend. Unfortunately for Hannah

message 79: by ellie (new)

ellie (rebelkitten12) Hannah raised her dark eyebrows. "Death goddess?" She repeated. "My aunt's a goddess of death and even I have to admit she's kind of nuts. What's your mom like?" Hannah paused. Was she conversing with Aelin? Casually? Then again, she was a goddess, and not mortal. And goddess of death as a mother and someone who could see energy? Tell Hannah's illusions from falsities? Hannah was admittedly colored a bit impressed. "I suppose it's... interesting...to make your acquaintance."
