Ragnhild Wenes | 1 comments I'm desperately trying to find a book series I read over 15 years ago. I think it was from Avalon book company or the series had something to do with Avalon. The story started with humans stranded on a planet in space and over time this grew to a settlement; only they went back in time to medieval times. The series had lots of books, can't remember how many. I borrowed them from a co worker and have no means to contact him about it now. If there are anyone with any good suggestions out there I would be eternally grateful! :D

Damien Lake | 38 comments That sounds very similar to C.S. Friedman, and her Coldfire trilogy. The first book is Black Sun Rising. The planet had a way of making human fears take physical form, so things like werewolves and ghouls populate the forests, and the fear of complex technology failing pretty much guarantees that it will happen. This means only simple machines and contraptions can be relied upon, and thus they are forced to revert to a fairly medieval culture. It is a very solid and compelling series.

Pete Carter (petecarter) | 94 comments What was that Harry Harrison series of books where elecricity hadn't been invented so everything was powered by steam? A little less than medieval but in a similar vein, I recall.

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 346 comments It's a popular theme, so identifying it is still difficult. You'll have to come up with more clues, Ragnhild.

The only one that pops up in my mind right now, is Ann McCaffrey's Pern series which features dragons.

Michele Could this be the Darkover books by Marion Zimmer Bradley? Darkover Landfall?

Leonie (leonierogers) | 1222 comments I'd be thinking the same as Michele - it sounds very much like Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover Series.
