Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments yes. it is coz I've been hearing of this one for quite some time now. suppose expectations were very high.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I'll keep my eye out here for the discussions but I'm off to greener pastures..:))

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments I've heard the same. I've actually added the second part to this US against Them in my TBR. I'll pick it up again to see how their lives pan out.

Leena, you might want to add a spoiler tag on message 48 regarding point 1 (view spoiler)

Pallavi (bookfetisher) I liked all the books( whichever I read) from this author and this one is my least favorite..
I liked anxious people which I read recently, which also have many characters like this one. And yet it was carried out very well.
Beartown is a 3* from me.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments the problem with most of these new authors is that most scenes have a sense of dejavu. I can hazily remember seeing them in 60s and 70s Hindi movies. So I'm wondering if Bollywood has spoilt me for novelty.or are these guys actually referring to them?

Maybe all of it is inspired by real life incidents.... bollywood or hollywood.... 60's, 90's or the current times.

"There are damn few things in life that are harder than admitting to yourself that you’re a hypocrite."

Arpit (arpitjoshi) | 1332 comments I like the the way he writes whatever the story be. I read this book a year back, though I don't remember the story exactly but I do remember it involved a lot of emotional drama and the characters are still vivid. And those one liners goes straight through your heart. It's sequel, 'Us against you', is even better. Do read that one too.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments it's on my tbr, but I'm going to wait out for some time

I went into this book after reading Know My Name totally unaware that it would deal with the same issue as the book I mentioned. That book gutted me and after that reading all this in fiction just didn't evoke any emotions in me. On the contrary, I loved the part about the sports; and the boys and their friendship and how it all effected them and help them grow up and own up to their mistakes.

I too loved the sports part, team building, coming of age and stuff... though I'm a complete noob on ice hockey.

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments who was your fav character?
Mine was Benji. Was the most empathic, understanding guy. I'm hoping he shines in book 2.

Gorab (itsgorab) | 3765 comments Mod
same here. Benji!

Leena Aluru (mgleena) | 7181 comments Kira comes in second. I can't imagine the kind of sacrifices she's made at every stage of her marriage. Peter sure is one lucky guy.

Sunn the aging coach was strange. A little out of the entire scene.

| Shakshi | (_shakshi__) | 15 comments I am Sorry but this book didn't worked out for me... actually it was too much for my brain I have to dnf it for the time being but I will read this book someday after getting too much blurbs about it so that I can prepare my brain for the events in this.

message 73: by Prateek (new) - added it

Prateek (prateeklibros) | 57 comments I am done with the book & I have to say that buildup to the ending was quite disappointing.

I agree that book was 100 pages extra long. Not sure if I want to pick up the sequel.
