Hugh Dunnett | 4 comments Novel about a person returning to the 'hippy' commune where their mother still lives after many years away.
Possibly based in California or Oregon.
Probably published early to mid 2000s.
Cover is an aerial shot of a road winding through forest.
Thanks!

Rainbowheart | 28714 comments Is this adult fiction?

Is the MC male or female?

Hugh Dunnett | 4 comments Sorry, should have posted more info... This is Adult Fiction.
Sounds ridiculous to say I can't remember but I believe(!) the main character is female.

Hugh, around what year did you read this book?

I added some details to the header/ topic title. Feel free to edit it.

thanks for tidying it up. i can't be more specific than saying early/mid 2000s - read the book probably soon after publication, maybe 2004?

Rainbowheart | 28714 comments Was the MC raised on the commune with their mother? What happened to the MC's father?

Was the whole book about the visit to the commune?

Boonville and Shampoo Planet have people raised on communes, but I don't know if they go back to visit during the story.

Hugh Dunnett | 4 comments Good questions - these are the reasons why I am trying to find this book! :)
But I have to say Rainbowheart, well done for suggesting Boonville based on my particularly vague description! You are spot on with that suggestion - that is the book, thank you!
It is the character/story of Sarah that has stuck with me in my vague recollections. Now I just need to track down a copy!
Thanks again :)
