20.3 - Best Review: Bucket's Task: Literary Tourist

For this task, you will explore the amazing Literature-Map site to have an adventure with a NEW-TO-YOU author.

Go to the Literature-Map site and search for an author you have read and enjoyed any time since June 1, 2020.

Choose any NEW-TO-YOU author that appears on the lit-map for the author you searched and read a book by them.
REQUIRED: Include a link to the lit-map (copy the url), the date you read the starting author, and state that the resulting author is NEW TO YOU when you post.

Bucket | 362 comments Good clarifying question:

Paula: Just to clarify: does the author I use to search literature-map have to be a new to me author first read after June 1, 2020, or is it just that I have to have read a book by that author during the time period between then and now? Can the book by the search author be a reread?

Answer: It's the latter. You need to have read a book by the author sometime in the past year-ish, but it's okay if you've also read the author/book before that too.

Bucket | 362 comments I see her down there! There's an author even further away, so I think you're pretty safe. :)

Bea Documenting my choice:

https://www.literature-map.com/nora+r...

Read The Awakening on 2/23/21 and gave it 5*.

I will read a book by Catherine Coulter. I have 2 on my TBR that were previously planned for past challenges. She would be a new-to-me author.

message 12: by Bucket (new)

Bucket | 362 comments Yup, and right next to Jennifer Crusie, so I bet you'll end up liking her book.

Bucket | 362 comments Looks good, Marie.

Maps are pretty stable, especially for author names that aren't on the edge.

We've used this lit map in several tasks over the years, and I don't recall ever seeing a name "fall off." Not to say that it theoretically couldn't happen, but I've never seen it.

Bucket | 362 comments I see Dervla McTiernan over there on the left side. :)

Thanks for the conformation. I am slowly learning to confirm all things that might not still be there in a month or so.

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 3946 comments I am looking at reading Second Sight Amanda Quick the book also lists Jayne Anne Krentz as author but i believe they are the same person (and both are on the lit map) as I have read neither and they relate to JD robb would that be OK for this task

RedSycamore | 516 comments Suddenly the message boards say that links to other sites are not allowed. Is there some way other than < a href="site.com">text< /a> to include the required link for this task?

I just tried it and had no trouble posting a link to the lit map site. Just the normal way - copied the site address and pasted it into a message on GR.
