Jillian | 2915 comments I finished Mirror Magic by Sara Bourgeois 5/28/2021 and add to A book that features a fantastical creature.

message 152: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3332 comments I finished:
The Fire Blossom for a book with more than 500 pages
Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit for a book whose title appears in ZHENG YI SAO. That started a new Sloop.

Jillian | 2915 comments Kathy, I’m not seeing Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit on the sloop sheet.

edit: I added it there after seeing it on the completion area of the planning thread.

message 154: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2915 comments I added Dawn on a Distant Shore (Wilderness, #2) by Sara Donati Dawn on a Distant Shore by Sara Donati under sloop for water on the cover.

I was not sure what the plan was on the planning thread for books that are on the 3 ship so I just temporarily marked them as darker purple. If there is something else we are doing please change it.

I don't think we had picked a colour yet. I had been thinking of suggesting blue.

Kendra | 2109 comments I finished The Witch's Heart and I used it for the medium length book. I LOVED this book.

message 157: by Nancy (last edited May 29, 2021 09:41AM) (new)

Nancy (fancynancyt) | 1842 comments Happy Saturday friends! I'm afraid I won't get much more reading done at this point. I am hoping to finish One Two Three at least, I have about 2.5 hours left on it. It can go in ensemble cast.

My son graduated last night and we have back-to-back parties all weekend, plus visiting relatives that make it hard to squeeze in reading time.

message 158: by Alyana (new)

Alyana Congratulations to your son and to the whole family! ☺️

Oops! Forgot that step, I guess!. Thanks, Jillian.

Deborah | 348 comments Happy Saturday! We are nearing the end and it looks like everyone is doing great! I have family in town and have not had a lot of time to read this weekend. I will finish Mossflower by the end of today. I am hoping to place it under "an adventure book" if that spot is still available when I finish. However, that may be the last book I an fit in before the end of Sunday. I will definitely post anything else that I manage to fit in.

message 161: by Alyana (last edited May 29, 2021 12:09PM) (new)

Alyana Hello team! I finished my book, The Lucky One and put it as where first letter of the title appears in DAVY JONES' LOCKER therefore started a new ship for the Schooner. I will start Codename Villanelle and that will be my last book for this readathon.

message 162: by Jillian (last edited May 29, 2021 02:58PM) (new)

Jillian | 2915 comments I finished The Return of the King (The Lord of the Rings, #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien 5/29/2021 and used it for weapon but it would also work for adventure or ensemble if we need to move it.

I have a short book I hope to finish soon so that will complete the sloop. After that I'm not sure if I will have anymore books.

message 163: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2109 comments I am hoping to finish Dracula either today or tomorrow, and that will definitely work for a slow paced book!

message 164: by Emma R. (new)

Emma R. | 79 comments I think if we rearrange a few of the books, we can get two of every ship except for sloops, which we'll have three of. I'm unsure of readathon etiquette when it relates to moving other people's books, but I'm happy to help with that task if we decide to rearrange

I don't think we need to do any rearranging yet. The three open spots someone checked in today that they should be able to fill those spots by tomorrow.

message 166: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2915 comments I finished Jack-O-Lantern Magic by Sara Bourgeois and added it to the schooners short book spot. It could also work for a series book but there looks to be more options for that spot.

message 167: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) Oh, my! I am so glad I reread The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. It has been 55 years and I believe I loved it just as much or maybe even a bit more this time around! I used it to fulfill the Brigantine prompt for an Adventure book, completing our second Brigantine! YAY!!

Now to finish Artificial Condition!

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments Sorry the death of my friend has really hit hard. I was with them all day today. I did manage to complete Horns. If you all want to find a place for that and mark it down. I'll start Between Shades of Gray tonight but probably won't get too far.

You all are doing awesome! Sorry I usually read a lot more than this for a read-a-thon!

Do not apologise for your grief. It hits you how it hits you and if you haven't been in the mood to read, that's fine.

I agree with Kendra. Take the time you need to grieve.

message 173: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 348 comments Hey all! I just finished Mossflower. I added it under "a book with an ensemble cast" but it would also fit under "a book that is part of series" if we need to move it. I will be traveling tomorrow for most of the day. If I don't get car sick I will try to get some reading in. We'll have to see...I will get my final stats to you by Sunday night! We are doing great! This has been fun!

message 174: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2109 comments I just finished VI and I used it for a fast paced book.

I added your book as a book with a 0 in the page number because the most common edition has 370 pages listed.

message 176: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3332 comments I finished Colour Scheme and added it for a book with a mostly blue color.

It is also part of a series, is a medium length book and has an ensemble cast.

message 177: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) Just finished Artificial Condition and used it to fulfill Schooners prompt A book written from the first person POV. That leaves just one prompt A book that is part of a series for our third Schooner!

message 178: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) I am finishing How to Be an Antiracist today which I can use to fulfill the last Galleon prompt of A book you feel moves slowly for our second Galleon.

I will be finishing my last book for today which will fit the part of a series prompt and will also complete our third Schooner! :D

message 180: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments Finally finished The Fallen and put it as a medium size book (437 pg). I am starting Whistling Past the Graveyard today. While only 307 pgs, I doubt I will finish it today. This has been a great week. Unfortunately I did not get as much read as I would have like (like it is possible to get that much read), I did finish some great books and make head way on some of the prompts I needed to finish. Thank you for letting me participate. It has been fun.

Kendra | 2109 comments Lynn wrote: "I am finishing How to Be an Antiracist today which I can use to fulfill the last Galleon prompt of A book you feel moves slowly for our second Galleon."

I was going to use Dracula for that prompt. Believe me, it moves SLOW. So if you want to see if it fits one of the other prompts cuz I just don't see us getting another galleon.

Sure! I'll search for a different prompt! :)

message 183: by Kendra (last edited May 30, 2021 03:25PM) (new)

Kendra | 2109 comments I finished it! (Dracula) It was a major slog and I only gave it a 2 but now we have our second galleon, so there is that.

message 184: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3332 comments I finished Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson. It fits an author whose initials are found in YO HO HO AND A BOTTLE OF RUM.

Great reading with all of you this week!

message 185: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) I have switched books. I will finish The Idiot Girl and the Flaming Tantrum of Death: Reflections on Revenge, Germophobia, and Laser Hair Removal and The Bookshop at Water's End. Then I'll read A War of Gifts and Amal Unbound. These will complete the Individual Challenge for me. They can be placed wherever for the team challenge prompts since it seems we aren't really completing much of anything today... Happy reading, team! This challenge is almost over!! I think we've done well!!

Plus, it can stop taking up space in my bookshelf. 😁 I had read an abridged version when I was a kid. That was sooooo much better. Such a disappointment.

Even if we don't complete another boat, I'd still throw it on there just in case.

I'll just put it in as part of the series. Which color should I use for that prompt?

message 194: by Jillian (new)

Jillian | 2915 comments It has been a fun week. I had insomnia last night/early this morning so I got in quite a bit of my audio book and thought I might be able to finish it. I still have 3 hours left but I do listen to it a 1.5 speed so there is still a chance that I will finish it tonight and update the spreadsheet tomorrow for adventure or stand-alone.

message 195: by Deborah (new)

Deborah | 348 comments I tried reading while traveling. vi made it 200 pages into a new book before I got car sick. I don't think I will finish the book tonight. I have posted my final data on the spreadsheet. Good job team! This has been fun!

message 196: by Alyana (new)

Alyana I enjoyed reading/listening with you guys! Until the next readathon! :D

message 197: by Joan (new)

Joan Barnett | 1972 comments You guys got a lot done for the read-a-thon. Sorry I wasn't that much help!!!

message 198: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2109 comments This has been a lot of fun. Way to go team!

message 199: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) I just barely made it reading those last four books. Good thing I was mostly finished with the two! I'm tired and will record them on the spreadsheet tomorrow morning.

So many good books! It's been fun reading with you-all!

You are a captain. Move something around to fit yours in. I don't think anyone will be upset if their book is counted for a different prompt, will they? Use one of mine if you can! :)
