Ships Log: 7762 leagues from port
Having acquired what seems a decent crew for manning the Steel Squid, we left Shanghai early and headed south to Manila and then on to Auckland where we are now supplying for the journey ahead. The crew is somewhat more...enthusiastic...than expected, and the Squid moved somewhat faster than anticipated. The navigator had to make some corrective actions to our course to compensate. If this pace keeps up, the expedition should have no trouble attaining its gold.

Ship's Log: 7066 leagues from last port
So ends our first day of hunting for the wreckage of Captain Bluebeard's ship. While many have sought it before, none have had the advantages at our disposal. With such rapacious readers on board, well supplied by the Steel Squid's ample library, we are able to cover large areas of the South Pacific in a day. Little is known of Bluebeard's last voyage, except that he left Auckland after much pillaging. Previousgold hunters teams of aquatic archaeologists have thoroughly searched his hideaway in the Sea of Okhotsk and found no sign that he made it back there. Based on a text found in a Buddhist monastery, it is our belief Bluebeard's ship was done in by heavy storms in the South Pacific, not the north as was previously believed.
Alas, today we found only the desert of the ocean floor, dimly lit by our own headlamps. Onward!
