It probably doesn't help that every time I read this, I want to watch the movie

..."
Apparently such an invention is - dare I say it - high improbable."
That's the beauty of it :D

@Gaea I'm feeling the same. Really enjoying it but I'm definitely reading it a lot slower than usual
Hey peeps, since you're continuing the series, I've made a separate folder for the threads (Adams - Hitchhiker's). This thread is being moved to that folder also. :)

This book is highly quotable :)
I'm trying to take it slow. Just finished Ch 11 [spoilers removed]"
It definitely is highly quotable! Already got quite a few marked down :)
I just got up to ch 11 as well and I had to chuckle a bit at the last line about (view spoiler) . Apart from just being funny, I also dare say it is actually true (source: am an (astro)physicist).
I'm also pleasantly surprised by the fact that (at least up until now) I'm not really irritated by anything that's not totally true physics-wise. I didn't expect to be because I never had that problem with the movie, but books sometimes have the tendency to write down absolute bullshit and treat it like absolute truth. Hoping it stays that way, I'm optimistic :)

This definitely made me want to rewatch the movie... I love Sam Rockwell... he plays the President...

I went and watched a trailer.. seemed pretty silly and fun. I'll have to see about renting it or something here soon! The cast seems pretty awesome overall from what I saw.

I think I've seen it at least five times, whoops.

Adams also did some work on the movie and the screenplay, although sadly he passed away before production began.

I'm taking way too long for this, up to chapter 15 now, but I'm having an absolute blast. Douglas Adams has such wit, his writing style reminds me of Walter Moers, one of my absolute favourite authors, and I have not been able to find anyone as close to witty as Moers. People have been recommending Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams as English versions of Moers basically, and though I do enjoy Pratchett, his work is still quite different.

They're safe again. This writing style isn't my favorite, it's something I have to struggle a while. Sometimes it's fun. I don't remember how Ford knew Beeblebrox.
Chapter 15
Okay, now we know who they're really travelling with! Somehow so funny that the story behind that planet started with rich people who was never happy & wanted always something more

This book is highly quotable :)

Oh yes, I love Martin xD
