Okay so card 1 and card have the image prompts of a pair of sunglasses and a hat. Could either work for a book about a main character who goes around in disguise because they're a thief? or is this stretching things too much?

How about prompt "MC is an animal": does it count if the character regularly turns into animals?

It depends. When we say 'MC is an animal', we mean that either the MC is an animal or it's original form is of an animal. If it keeps changing regularly, then it can count, but the true form must me an animal.
