Sorry for the delay, I'm experiencing some technical trouble, currently. But here we go:

The Earth warlock has finished the summoning, and an eerie quiet descends on the field. For a moment, the Water warlock is allowed to hope that the spell failed. But then, a strange, moaning sound pierces the stillness and grows into the haunting howl of a large hound. And only a breath later, an enormous black hound bounds from what looks like no more than tiny crack in the earth behind the Earth warlock, the howl subsiding to deep growling. The Gytrash bows its head with the glowing eyes and maw reverently towards its master, then turns to pick up the scent of its prey. The other three warlocks have all but frozen as the beast prowls around each in turn to sniff them. When there is only the Water warlock left and the Gytrash turns that way, the Water warlock begins to step backwards, mumbling, and then turns to run as the Gytrash pounces with a growl.
The Water warlock doesn't get far. In two bounds, the Gytrash is upon her, and with a third bound and a panicked scream from the victim, the black beast dives into another tiny crack in the ground, dragging the warlock away with it.

The strange quiet lifts, and the three remaining warlocks eye each other warily from behind their defensive spells. One has now shown how strong the element in her control is.

The Fire warlock has finished the summoning, and an eerie quiet descends on the field. Then the flames from the protective Circle shoot up about 20 feet, and with a great roar, a Chuvash dragon detaches itself from them. It circles high above its master for a moment before pitching into a low dive headed towards the Wind warlock. It opens its maw to roar again, shooting out an impressive stream of flames which scortch the earth beneath it as it passes.

But just as the flames threaten to reach the Wind warlock, walls of air, which have been swirling around in a circle on the ground, rise up, dragging fire stream and Chuvash dragon skywards and extinguishing both into a cloud of smoke which disperses.
The Wind warlock raises an eyebrow at the Fire warlock across the field from inside the Eye of the Hurricane with a smile you could almost call amused.

I've noticed a bit of a problem here and would propose a rule change:

I'd propose that the defense spells get diminished by either own or opponent attacks so that after two things happening you need to recast the defense.
Otherwise I think this might take too long to enable attacks which are useful. What do you think?

Sorry for lagging again. I started at a new bookshop this week - and we're currently moving three doors down the street. So I've been hauling books from 9 in the morning to 7.30 in the evening, and then falling into bed like dead these last days.

@BLOBBIE: Who do your attack spells go towards before Niharika sends you to the same unholy plane I've been dragged to?

(I'll do the 'roleplay' bit once that is cleared.)

Thanks, here we go:

The Fire warlock looses no time. A fireball hurtles towards the Earth warlock behind the already flickering barrier, cleanly slicing through it and destroying the defense spell. Before the Earth warlock can recast the defense, another fireball finds its aim. For a few moments, the Earth warlock seems to be somewhat distracted by rolling about on said Earth to extinguish the flames which threaten are licking all over the robes and cloak.

When the Earth warlock finally gets up, she looks deceidedly angry. Ignoring the amused smile on the Wind warlock's face, she turns to face the Fire warlock. Hails of bouders destroy any last bit of defense spells that were still active or being cast anew.

Then the Earth warlock begins to summon the Gytrash again. A low, throatal chanting, almost inaudible at first, then growing louder and louder, accompanied by rythmic stomping of the earth in a pattern only known to those aligned with the Earth... then...

The Earth warlock has finished the summoning, and an eerie quiet descends on the field. Then the same strange, moaning sound pierces the stillness and grows into the haunting howl of a large hound. Only a breath later, an enormous Gytrash bounds forth again, growling. It bows its head with the glowing eyes and maw reverently towards its master - is that a piece of the Water warlock's cloak between its teeth? Then it turns to pick up the scent of its prey. The Wind warlock seems reasonably unfazed this time around, knowing where the Gytrash is going. Other than the Water warlock, the Fire warlock stands her ground as the Gytrash pounces with a growl.
The black beast, the whole arm of the Fire mage in its maw, bounds to dive into another tiny crack in the ground, dragging the warlock away with it. Just before the crack closes, fire erupts from it in a hot curtain of flames.

Then the strange quiet lifts, and the two remaining warlocks eye each other warily from behind their defensive spells, one still holding her cards tight to her chest.

The ground has hardly closed over the Fire warlock when the Earth warlock turns towards her final opponent. Hails of boulders crash down around the Wind warlock, smashing the Eye of the Hurricane, and before the Wind warlock can even being to recast her defenses, the Earth warlock begins her summoning ritual again.

The Gytrash looks almost as excited as a puppy playing fetch when it stands before its master (if puppies usually glowed around the eyes and fangs, were roughly the size of a pony and emitted a strong earthy scent). It probably can't even remember when it last had so much fun... despite a few places in its coat that look a bit singed. The gesture with which the Earth warlock sends it to its final prey is almost nonchallant at this point. The Wind warlock gulps.

While the Wind warlock is still only halfway through a wind spell, the Gytrash pounces with a fierce growl and flattens her to the ground. The loud thud which can be heard might explain why the Wind warlock hangs rather limply from the Gytrash's maw when it gets ready for the final dive into the earth instead of fighting back. With a last muffled howl from the Gytrash, the hound and Wind warlock vanish into another crack in the ground.

After a heartbeat or two, the normal sounds of a field in early dusk return. The Earth warlock heaves a sigh, rolls her shoulders, twists her neck slowly and cracks her knuckles. She brushes a bit of dust and left-over ash from her cloak, allows herself a triumphant smile, surveying the field, and then turns to walk away, whistling softly under her breath.

So, the Elementary Challenge is over, and Niharika single-handedly eliminated all her opponents, with BLOBBIE putting up the most fight. Congratulations!
