Hi, Oyin!

I was thinking about it, and I think I want July to have a theme because I want to try something different for August's BOTM. (More on that later)

What do you think our July book themes should be?

Now about that August BOTM. . . .

I want to add a 4th BOTM. Currently, we do 3 BOTMs—MG, YA, and Adult. I want to add a 4th BOTM—a "choice read" category.

While the first 3 have to be MG, YA, and Adult and fit in the theme. I want the "choice read" to be different. By choice read I mean trope, genre, category, etc. These choice reads wouldn't have to fit in with that month's theme(s).

For example, the choice category for one month could be retellings. So members could nominate/suggest books that are either a themed book or a choice book, in this case, retellings.

Another example is that the choice category could be the Chosen One trope. Members would then have to nominate any book that has the Chosen One trope in it.

Did that make any sense? What do you think?

Can you come up with reading checkpoints Oyin for each of the books?

Basically, all you should have to do is figure out how the number of chapters and pages the group should read a week.

For example, say a book has roughly 400 pages. We would read approximately 100 pages each week, give or take a few pages based on where the chapters end.

I'm not saying this is necessarily that easy, but it'd be a huge help to me if you could do that for me.

I’ve given it some thought, and I’ve decided to nix the checkpoint idea. (A) It would just be a lot / way too much work. (B) I don’t think they would really be that necessary, as long as people participate.

On that note, your job now would just be recruiting discussion leaders, a job that I think is way simpler than the checkpoint idea.
