Great point, Lauren! The author did a great job in building the creep factor for Olivia’s remote location as I was worried the whole time. When Bentz upped the security, I thought she might give consideration to staying somewhere else but it was in my own mind.

One aspect that was intriguing was the chill air that Olivia felt when she walked past the entryway mirror. This little bit of foreshadowing actually tipped me off to the idea that the killer was Olivia's brother because Jackson always mentioned the bible in the same passage, and I thought of an old family bible with records of births and deaths in it.

I also have a slight twisted mind when it comes to murder mysteries, lol!

I stopped and re-read the passage with the mirror, but I didn't hit on brother. I thought it was her grandmother connecting with her. Mirrors show up so often in paranormal books.


What a great point Lauren! I didn't make that connection, and I was creeped out any time she was home alone. I kept waiting for the killer to be inside her house, the way the killer snuck inside Sam's house in the first book. I think it's a great point, Lynn, that it was to up the suspense. It certainly did that for me.

Such a great find! I never connected those dots at all, even looking back. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. One of the reasons I love the discussions is that I learn so much digging into the book. :)

Me too! It is great how different readers spot things when reading.
