All of the information about the region, the Appalachian area, is interesting to me, because my Father's family lived in West Virginia for a time and he was born there. I'm enjoying the characters and their interactions. The poverty is mind-boggling and the fear of the blue skinned humans, by some, is hard to take. I'm really enjoying the book....almost finished.
I learned a lot reading this book. I had been to the Appalachian area, so was aware of the poverty and the rugged terrain. The author's descriptions were so vivid - blue skinned people were completely new to me, so I looked up what I could find about them. I also learned there really is a place called Troublesome Creek. Great book!

Cool, there is extra interest for sure when you have a personal connection.

I so agree, the author is an expert on the flora and fauna and wildlife and weather of the region. Same, I had never heard of the blue skinned, the medical testing done on Bluet is cringe worthy.
