Was this Douglas Adams series your introduction to science fiction?

Cannon Book Club is holding the Young at Heart Book Club May 21 and 22.  Many Cannonballers have fond memories of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and CoffeeShopReader did a recent reread. "Slartibartfast's little assist at the end is probably one of the better bits, and I'd love to know how Douglas Adams came up with that name." Was this Douglas Adams series your introduction to science fiction? (Cannonball Read 13)

I was into the Chronicles of Narnia, The Dark is Rising, and Hitchhiker's Guide all about the same time as a kid. Loved all of them. Even did an oral book report on So Long and Thanks for all the Fish which was a terrible idea in hindsight and probably baffling to the uninitiated to the series in my class.

That one was pretty confusing even for the initiated.

I don't remember my first science fiction as I probably read one and just took it as "fiction that had fantasy elements." But I think it was Jane Yolen that was my first read into not "regular" fiction.
