ZET VITALIA [PART ONE]

The World: There are three different areas of the world here. Two are human countries (Elryn and Loveta), and one is known as the Wildlands. The two human countries have a very futuristic yet also historical vibe. Think historical clothing and stuff - from which era, you ask? I have no idea. It’s hard for me to describe, since I refuse to do have not yet done any research whatsoever, but think of it as... everyone wears whatever the hell they want, which is mainly old-fashioned clothing but turned comfortable and gender-neutral because society as a whole decided that combining laser swords and what might maybe be Georgian clothing would be badass.
    Elryn is where most of our story takes place. This country is focused mainly on duels and combat, and there are a bunch of different forms of dueling. Some allow you to kill your opponent, others don't. That's just more stuff we'll get into later. Elryn is a very colorful place. You won't find many people wearing grey or black, although white is a pretty common color to pair with other stuff. There are plenty of different arts, with combat being one of the major ones. Despite Elryn's cheerful vibes and stuff, there's a lot of crime and a lot of killing and it's just generally a really unsafe place to hang around at night. The people who live there, however, usually try to ignore it, pretending that everything is fine. It's not a great situation. There are professional duels and tournament events that go on for people's entertainment, and most of the duelists cover their faces and use stage names, since they make enemies rather easily.
    Loveta is far less colorful but far more secure. Loveta mainly focuses on the security of its people, and considers dueling and harming others for entertainment to be barbaric. Rather, duels are used mainly to quickly solve conflicts and such. There's a heavy emphasis on technology and intellect, with most of the world's great colleges and academies there. However, because the story focuses more on Elryn, we don't actually get to know much about it.
    The Wildlands are pretty much exactly what they sound like. A vast expanse of land, bigger than Loveta and Elryn combined, that's full of dangerous... dangerous everything. There's barely anything in the Wildlands that can't kill you - including the people who live there. Those who live in the Wildlands are said to have magical abilities and inhuman features, and could easily take down someone from either of the human kingdoms. They're called lyratrixes but are more commonly referred to as just trixes. The lyratrixes have done nothing wrong to the humans, but they're still feared and even hated for their magic. The only reason the human kingdoms haven't attacked the Wildlands yet is simple - they would lose. Badly.

The Characters:
    Cather [38 years old, male (he/him), bisexual]- A professional duelist. He's a pretty chill guy, kinda your standard very-gruff-exterior-with-a-heart-of-gold fictional adoptive dad. He's sarcastic and blunt, not really the type to waste words. He's an extremely gifted fighter who's known as the Stormkeeper, a nickname that was given to him after a certain trick he pulled during his first dueling tournament. He was born in Loveta, but his parents moved to Elryn when he was young. Cather’s fighting style is straightforward and actually quite simple, yet still extremely effective.
    Saffron [14 years old, female (she/her), lesbian] - Ohhhhhhhh boy. This child is... chaos. She's impulsive and really doesn't know what she's doing, but is that going to stop her? No, absolutely not. She rarely thinks before she acts, and common sense? Who're they? She has a clearly defined sense of right and wrong, and the determination and motivation to fix what she thinks needs fixing. The only thing she lacks is any sort of a plan on how to do it, but she's getting there. Or she'll just improvise. Who knows? Saffron’s fighting style is far more fancy and... flourishy? than Cather’s, and she has plenty of different tricks up her sleeve for future use.
    Iara [25 years old, female (she/her), aroace] - This woman is, in all honesty, just kinda mean, at least on the outside. She's one of four dancers in a pretty well-known group called the Wingwillows - Weird name, I know, but she didn’t come up with it. She’s sarcastic to the max and always has some biting retort for everything. She’s often underestimated by opponents because of her smaller stature and her career - dancers are often stereotyped as weak compared to duelists, which is entirely false, most dancers in Elryn could absolutely beat a duelists ass, but now I’m ranting about the injustices of a fictional world so let’s move on. Iara’s fighting style relies on agility and speed, darting around her enemies and wearing them out, and striking wherever she can find a weak spot.
    Azure [19 years old, boyflux (he/they), androsexual] - They must be protected at all costs. This is not a drill. Azure is the only current member of ✨the gang✨ who doesn’t actually fight much. He works with technology and science, and he’s ridiculously good at it. They’re a very quiet person, easy startled or flustered, and they were often bullied as a child for their lack of interest in fighting. It’s not easy to avoid trouble in Elryn, especially when you refuse to duel. He has dreams of going to one of the colleges in Loveta, but it’s expensive, and he’s not sure he wants to leave behind the life he’s made for himself here. Let’s make one thing clear - they don’t hate the idea of dueling. They hate the idea of themself dueling. That’s all.
    Alastor [40 years old, male (he/him), pansexual] - Okay, fuck this guy. He’s a horrible person. Let’s see, let’s see... he’s a murdering, anti-trix, immoral, manipulative bitch who would kill a child (and attempts to do so multiple times). He’s not even the kind of character where it’s like “they’re a dumpster fire of a human being but I still love them”. He’s just an asshole. I cannot put into words how much I fucking hate this bitch. I can only curse my mind for plaguing him upon me. Just... trust me when I say that he sucks, a lot. His fighting style? Alastor fights dirty. He will do whatever it takes to win his duels, and he never gives an opponent the chance to yield, as most dueling forms require. Actually, he should’ve gone to jail for a bunch of different stuff, but he’s also got friends who are really fucking rich and have paid off everyone who could’ve possibly put him behind bars.

The Plotline: Attention, various esteemed motherfuckers, buckle your seatbelts because this is gonna be a ride. About 70% of this is going to be told to you in the form of generic-and-somewhat-impatient narrator, while other bits will be written in the form of tiny chunks I wrote down internally or on paper because I said so.
    So we have Cather, a professional duelist, you should know who he is if you just read through the character things. That's where we kinda start. Most of the towns in Elyrn have dueling competitions every day. Two duelists pay a small amount to enter the arena, and then they fight until one either yields or gets knocked out of the ring. From there, whoever won stays in for the next duel while the next challenger pays and goes in, and they fight, and it continues like that from around noon until dusk. Whoever's still in the ring by nightfall takes about half of the money collected from everyone paying to get in, while the rest goes to the people who run the competitions and set everything up. That's what Cather does for a living. He lives in a pretty large town, so there are always new duelists, but he usually wins the competitions. Keep in mind that if someone loses, they can pay and try again, because that will be important later.
    So Cather's in the arena, it's pretty close to nightfall, he's absolutely kicking everyone's ass, and then this new person shows up. She must be a pretty inexperienced duelist, because she's not wearing a mask or anything, and yeah she's using an alibi (The Jade Wraith, which she had no part in making up, the announcer just said it since she told them she didn't have one and they were like bitch what) but like... bruh. Everyone knows that you need to hide your identity while you duel, dumbass, there are people who will literally kill you if you get too well-known and they know what you look like.
    Also, she is most definitely not dressed for a duel. I mean, who wears formal clothing to a duel, it's so hard to move in, what are you doing? But Cather's honestly just kinda done for today, and it's gonna be the last duel of the night, and he's assuming it'll be an easy fight, so he's not complaining.
    The fight takes much longer than expected.
    Turns out this Jade Wraith lady is actually really good. Like, really good. Their duel goes on for like an hour. That's a ridiculously long time for a duel, but they're pretty evenly matched and neither of them has managed to gain the upper hand. That is, until the Wraith pulls some weird fancy trick and Cather trips and he falls over the edge of the arena and he has, officially, lost the fight. It happens very fast.
    Now, this is the first time in a while that Cather's lost a duel. The crowd is completely stunned because he's pretty well-known (as the Stormkeeper, mind you) and he just got his ass kicked by some upstart. Plus, the night's already fallen, so this Wraith just won the whole competition for today.
    Part of Cather wants to go talk to her, because he was not expecting that at all, but he looks around and she's already gone. Just took off. Personally, he needs a bit of time to process what just happened anyway - not in a "holy shit I just lost that's so humiliating" way, but in a "that was so f a s t wtf just happened" way - so he's fine with it.
He stops by a small inn on the way there (yes there are inns because I said so fuck off it's my universe and I'll make it what I wish) to get a drink, probably nothing too expensive because he doesn't have much money since surprisingly enough, dueling doesn't pay super well. And guess who he finds there? The Jade Wraith herself. Actually, she comes up to him, after she spots him at a table by himself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cather sat himself at a small table in the back, where nobody was really paying attention to him. He could take off his mask for a moment here, relax for a while before heading home. He took a swallow of his drink, leaning back for a moment and closing his eyes.
The table shook slightly, and he jolted up, startled. The woman he had dueled earlier - The Jade Wraith - had sat down right across from him, and was grinning at him expectantly. He wasn't certain how he hadn't heard her coming, but she didn't seem to mean any harm, so he figured it was fine for now.
"Stormkeeper, right?" The smile never left her lips as she offered him a handshake. There was something remarkably familiar about her face. "My name's Saffron."
Another reason why she couldn't have been an experienced duelist. You didn't just give your name out to the people you fought.
His eyes flicked to hers skeptically, and then to her hand. She had to want something from him, and he wasn't the type to do people favors.
Saffron kept talking, ignoring his clear irritation. "You're a pretty good fighter. I think that might've been the best first duel a person can get."
"That was your first?" Of course it was her first, with the general naivety that radiated from her. Still, she was quite the swordswoman, and he was curious how she'd gotten so good at it if she hadn't fought before.
Cont. in post 10.
ZET VITALIA [PART TWO]
    "Yep!" She leaned back in her chair. Cather noted that she didn't take off her hat. She hadn't taken it off before their duel, either, and it had stayed on the whole time. Strange. "I've trained a lot before, but that was my first time fighting someone for real. I think I just got lucky, too." Saffron shrugged.
    That explained a lot.
    Cather thought about that for a second. "Well, most duelists cover their face when they fight." He glanced at her. "You make enemies pretty quickly. It's dangerous if they know who you are."
    "You're showing me your face right now," Saffron pointed out.
    Shit. She was right.
    "But anyway- That wasn't what I wanted to ask you about. See, I'm planning on putting together a sort of... team, I guess. There's a lot of bad stuff that happens, and everyone here seems dead set on hurting everyone else. I think with enough effort, I could put a stop to that. Or, yknow," She shifted in her seat nervously. "Me and a few other people."
    He blinked. There weren't many people in Elryn who were even willing to acknowledge what went on behind the scenes, and much less who had the motivation to stop it. Cather looked at Saffron again, studying her face. She had the look of someone who had just become an adult and was still excited about it. "How old are you, kid?" He asked, taking another sip of his drink.
    "Fourteen."
    He choked.
    "What."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So Cather's just been asked for help by this literal child, we're not gonna mention that she beat him in a fight earlier because that would be very humiliating for him, and yeah. They talk more, he finds out that she's actually the daughter of an old friend of his who died in a fire thirteen years ago. Actually, turns out Cather was supposed to be the kid's godfather, except everyone thought that she had died in the fire too.
Of course, she doesn't remember how she survived, she was a baby, that shit was a long time ago. She has a vague idea of what happened, though. An older couple raised her (was it a gay couple? absolutely because I want to) until she was about eight, and she was told that they had just found her and taken her in. Then, of course, h

I promise you Zet Vitalia is the most complicated of all my worlds, the others are nowhere near this crazy. They’re still pretty weird though.

AURUM ARGENTUM TIME
Sit your asses down and buckle your seatbelts while I learn you a thing that I myself only came up with just this week
Alright WELL we have this fantasy world. There's magic and spells and portals to other realms and swords and all that funky shit. Also there's a king. He's a bitch. We all hate Aurum, fuck this guy, but the story's not about him so forget him.
The plot revolves primarily around this dude named Argentum. Just call him Gen, everyone does. He's also Aurum's brother. And has basically been on magical house arrest for the past 138 years, because he tried to murder Aurum.
Standard sibling stuff.
The way it works is that there's this house. It's pretty spacious, not half bad of a house - but he can't leave. There's a spell around it, like this giant forcefield dome that only affects him. Other people can go in and out as they please (within reason), he just can't leave.
So clearly he's a lil restless. He finds things to do, yeah, but most of those things involve accidentally blowing things up and such. Also, a note for the future - Gen is a very powerful magician. Kickass. And he's a bit crazy, but Lio will passionately defend him if you mention it.
Speaking of Lio, he's the king's son, fucking hates his dad, and spends more time vibing with his uncle than with anyone else. He walks with a pretty heavy limp that he's had since he was born and usually uses a cane, his dad was an asshole and wanted him to use an illusion spell for it knowing full fucking well that it would hurt him to walk like that, he just didn't want his son to appear "weak" to the public and embarrass him. That was the start of a very long line of the two of them just hating each other, and now Lio hangs out with his cool uncle instead.
When I say "hang out", I mean he's basically Gen's caretaker, because if nobody reminds him then the man will forget to eat for twelve days straight. Gen doesn't take very good care of himself.
It is a mutual thing though. They help each other out. Neither will admit it to anyone, but they have a very obvious father-son relationship. They care about each other.
A note I should add: Ages are different here. People live to be about 1000 years old, with every ten years there being about one year in our world. It's an alternate dimension, and the passage of time is wacky. So Lio's 172, he's been chilling with Gen (who's 421) for about 20 or so years. Lio looks like he's 17 and Gen looks around 42, etc, etc.
Then we have Taffeta and Shiv.
Taffeta is a thief-assassin combo. Very skilled with knives, very sarcastic and flirty, and morals? Who the fuck are they? She's wanted by the royal guard, and a close friend of Gen and Lio's who hangs out at their house whenever she feels like or needs a hiding spot. She's cool. I'm gay for a woman that doesn't exist anywhere but my head.
Shiv is Taffeta's brother/best friend and another close friend of Argentum. He's an archer and a mercenary, and fun fact! He and Taffeta didn't discover they were siblings until he, ahem, got hired to kill her and they got into a fight and were evenly matched and then realized "wait I know you" because they got separated when they were eight. He's also very sarcastic, but in a less bitter way and a more lighthearted sort of personality.
So the entire daydream is just the various adventures of these four.
Yeah.
