looks like the Indian audible has de-listed it. strange since it has also been delisted from Storytel since Feb
this is going to be a controversial book I guess :)
yea its about an attack so may be.I could not read in the weekend. I am at the point where the three main characters have been introduced. And a basic link between the three has been set.
I feel like this is going to be one of those books which force you to think about life and its various circumstances.
BTW, I like the way the perspective of Lovely has been written. Just like a person who is learning English would say or write.

I agree on Lovely's storyline - well written. The PT master character is very Shakespearean.
Finished it a couple of days ago. It was a decent read. I love stories that are told from multiple perspectives and this was a decent attempt by the author. The last few chapters of the book were gut wrenching. I loved how some lead characters were not just complete white characters but had different shades of grey. I loved Lovely's arc the best. I liked how conflicted her character was and when faced with a life changing decision to make, morality and Righteousness sometimes have to take backseat, especially one has faced adversities all their life and have been at the receiving end of luck. All in all a pretty nice short read.

I have reached to the point where Lovely has started shooting for the movie. And I agree with Parvez, the characters written are not black and white but grey with faults of their own. Its true in current scenario where people intentionally choose their own welfare above others and this is what makes the book very relatable.I liked how PT sir and Lovely are connected through Azad too not just Jivan. Still waiting how this information would materialize into something later.
And I get the political angle of why has the book been delisted from audio platforms.
Ok. I'm done. The storyline is very relatable to the present world scenario where people with no influence and means are often slaughtered for selfish motives('the greater good' as it is called). There are chapters where you think the character should have chosen a different path but in the hindsight the question still remains 'if you were in the same situation, would you really choose the moral path?'

I have reached this part now. The character arcs are somehow predictable and in the name of hard-hitting, maybe the author is stretching with some pointless episodes. I will reserve my judgement till I finish.
Am half-way through the book . It is a gut-wrenching read , a novel in the realist mode . All the inconvenient truths about minority persecution , class divide , the plight of the have nots and rise of majoritarian politics are laid bare . However , the muck and the pessimism does sometimes seem to cater to the western audience .Some of the reviews point to a tragic betrayal of Jivan at the end so I find it difficult to read further . But the writing does draw you into its world and I hope to finish a few days later
