SOLVED. Adult Science Fiction. Spaceship with frozen captain. [s]

I never finished the book so all I remember is that it starts with a crew on a huge ship with a cache of powerful weapons and the ships captain is frozen but occasionally slightly thawed so he can be consulted. The ship seems to be mammoth with very few crew. Help. I want to finish reading this book.
