Beethoven---Name that Symphony!

Well, it is what it says! I'm sure we are all or almost all of us are fairly familiar with most of his symphonies. But do we all know which number they are? I just started randomly putting in numbers to listen to the different symphonies and had NO IDEA that 'Moonlight Sonata' is really his Symphony no. 14! So I'm just going to post a link. I don't know how to do it so you don't see what it is called, so you need to be honest and just listen and not peek!

So I'll post a link to a YouTube symphony and have you guess which one it is. I think this will be pretty easy for most of us,. I hope it's not so easy that my idea is just lame! So post your guess in a comment! :)

About recognizing the symphonies, I know from experience that I can only identify three from the nine.
That is the 5th (and only the first movement) The 6th and the 9th.
It's not that I'm not familiar with the others but I seem to mix them up and can't tell the difference between the 4th and the 8th or 1 and 2...

As for the sonatas, I think I've heard them all but probably won't be able to recognize even one of the 32...

You're right, Dirk. I put symphony in the search and it did come up with a sonata and I didn't even notice. So most of that was my fault. I posted a sonata and asked you all to guess the symphony. No wonder nobody could get it!

I don't think it was YouTube as much that got mixed up as it was me that was oblivious to which one it posted when I asked for the symphonies. I'll try to be more observant.

You know, I only know 3 of them, also. You make me feel a little better because I was thinking I'm just not as well informed, or well educated in my music art as most because I don't know all my symphonies. But I only know 5, 6, and 9 also. haha

Well, I could ask for you all to guess the symphony OR sonata. But that would be really difficult, so since you said you only recognize the three and I find you as more educated than me, I guess this isn't the best game to play.

Would anyone be better at guessing Bach? Sonatas? Fugues? Something else? Mozart? Another composer? Or is anyone interested in playing this at all? I really would like to know. I'm just trying to do something that we could keep going instead of me posting one thing occasionally. But of course, I'm 2 days late in answering your post, also.

Ugh. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
