Alina | 58 comments Geronimo is back with an environmental aspect on things. Geronimo is writing a book about saving electricity because New Mouse Island is having some problems with their electricity and some times the whole city goes into a blackout. Geronimo recalls a story about Cat Island and how they had electricity problems of their own. When Oscar WildWhiskers notices that the lights turn off suddenly and the power had gone out, he races over to his cousin’s Catardone to see what the problem is. Catardone was furious about trying to pay the gas and electricity companies on Cat Island and has turned off the power until the greatest scientists and the members of the Great Council Chamber figure out a way to save power so the bill of the different companies won’t be higher and Catardone won’t have to give up so much money from the Imperial Vault to pay them. He says that if no one finds a way to get gold then the power will remain off. Everyone starts to complain until one of Catardone’s scientists, Dr, Redfur, pulls out a map to Mouse Island and says that Mousey Liberty is made of gold because it’s yellow and is the perfect thing to steal as they don’t have to use any power to get the statue. Catardone says that the cats will prepare the Black Hurricane (Catardone’s ship) and sail to New Mouse Island, once there, they will knock the statue down with cannonballs and tie the statue up, dragging it with them. Kitty and Scott (Catardone’s youngest kids who are twins) realize that dragging the statue back with them to Cat Island will be a big mistake because of all the sea life they will hurt at the bottom of the sea floor. So, with the help of Oscar WildWhiskers and Samantha (Samantha is a cat who loves to read Geronimo’s books and keeps in touch with him by carrier pigeon) the twins send a message to Geronimo, warning him about the pirates plan to steal the statue. Kitty and Scott sneak on board the Black Hurricane and as they set off, they hear about Tersilla’s plan to steal only the cheese part of the statue, with the help of Thugsy and Killer, and make a fortune out of it. Will Geronimo be able to save the statue in time or will it become a part of Cat Island?

I love this book because it teaches kids the importance of saving energy. I also like this book because of the funny image near the end of the book where there was an embarrassing photo of Catardone being forced to pedal a bicycle powered generator. This book also explains some ways to save electricity and how to have fun at the same time while doing it. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
