Gary Mlodzik | 2 comments Public libraries are normally underfunded. Especially those in high poverty communities. Imagine $500 annually to replace books, add new books and pay for subscriptions. In 2015, I developed the Grow Your Library program for the national children’s literacy foundation Kids Need to Read..
With Grow Your Library, 6 carefully selected public libraries will receive a grant of at least 300 new books, depending on availability. Some years, I have been able to send out over 600 books per library! Along with the large book donation, my wife Tina and I visit the library for story time. Each child in attendance receives a free book and a Highlights magazine to keep. The kids also have the opportunity to respond to a special KNTR email address telling us their name, age and what they like to read. We then donate a book to the library with the child's name on a book plate inside the cover. "Donated by Jake Smith on behalf of KNTR" It is the child's way to make a difference in their community. These last books are bought with funds from a private donor.
For the fall of 2021, our plans are to bring GYL story time adventures to NM, AR, MO, OK, MS and GA. We have selected 6 libraries with an average poverty level of 78%. These folks are in need and are excited to have us visit.
My request is simple. Would you donate six sets of your books? Six books? A mixed box? Whatever new books you feel you can contribute to the Grow Your Library program would be appreciated.

The GYL team will make a difference in the 6 communities we serve. If you’d like to help, we can use everything! Board books to young adult books. Fiction and non-fiction! Please send your donation to:
KNTR - GYL - Mlodzik
2450 W Broadway Rd, Suite 110
Mesa, AZ 85202
Thanks for your consideration.

J.L. Witterick (jlwitterick) | 2 comments What a wonderful thing to do Gary!
I am happy to donate books for your cause.
“My Mother’s Secret” is an international bestselling novel which is based on a true Holocaust story. This book is currently being used in many schools.
Should I send 6 copies to the address you indicated above?
I am the author and can sign the books as well,
Wishing you all the best.
I will also email you as well.
