The teenage girl is the narrator. Her parent's divorce. Father/mother start new relationships, marry, and have kids with new people. Father is remote. The daughter feels alone. The stepfather Nick (a photographer) seduces her. She keeps the baby and the parents think she got pregnant by Charlie a classmate. Her father ( I think a professor) takes her back in to help her raise the child.
