i’m so glad this is the BOTM! i have been looking for a reason to reread this book :) it’s been too long!
Okay this is my final push to actually read the hunger games. I can't believe it has taken me this long.
i read this in March. The first two books are AMAZING but the third put me in a reading slump and i have only read half of it, maybe i’ll finally finish it in may🤞🏻x
I liked it, but I didn't love it. It was definitely action-packed and exciting, but all the characters were bland and flat.
Ok,now who all here love Gale? I know there arent many but I would love to know that someone here supports me
I wanted to read it for quite a while I guess it's my sign to read it I just started it I'm on chapter 4 ^-^
This book got me into YA, I read it when I was 9 or 10 and I loved it. Since then, my rating has dropped, but I do think it's worth a read. I didn't enjoy the romance or the writing, but besides that, it's pretty good! I'm currently watching the movies and that's kind of reminded me how nostalgic I am for it.
This is my comfort series I first read it about 5 years ago (I was 9?) and I absolutely LOVED it. I don't know how many times I've read it, but it's a lot. I probably won't get to read it this month but I hope everyone else enjoys it.
I first read this two years ago and I LOVED IT. I recommend this book to all my friends and it's just so much fun to watch them go through all those emotions that I did. I probably won't read it this month but I hope everyone else has fun!
I loveeee this bookI also love how the main character, Katniss, shows all throughout the books and movies that girls really can be powerful and important!!

Thank you Shawna!
I like this book. A lot. It was my first dysoptian read. I do not planning to re-read it, but it was sooo good.
The Hunger Games is a classic, it’s a must-read for anyone who hasn’t and truly I believe that the movie goes along great with the book and is quite accurate. It is dystopian but in a way that is still connected to our reality. So glad this is a BOTM!
Such a classic! I reread this not too long so I won’t be reading it this month, but I’m excited for you first timers! 💕 THG really helped develop my love of reading. Enjoy!!

I feel like the love-triangle was hilarious just because the way it ended.
My friend told me, "I ship Katniss and Gale" and I told her, "When Katniss came home from the first hunger games, Gale was upset that she kissed Peeta instead of being there to comfort her about her traumatic experience." That shut her up pretty quickly.
Maalika wrote: "My friend told me, "I ship Katniss and Gale" and I told her, "When Katniss came home from the first hunger games, Gale was upset that she kissed Peeta instead of being there to comfort her about he..."I'll note it down for other such shippers!
for me, I like Peeta, but I love Gale. I dunno if it's because Liam Hemsworth plays him in the movie and that why I like him more or it's just because I lean toward the evil lepes
Maalika wrote: "My friend told me, "I ship Katniss and Gale" and I told her, "When Katniss came home from the first hunger games, Gale was upset that she kissed Peeta instead of being there to comfort her about he..."There wasn't anything about that in the book. It just showed that Gale was distant because of his job. But I agree on that but it might hit a guy a bit if the girl he liked kissed another guy...in front of the whole country....But I support Gale
adela wrote: "Tisha wrote: "Maalika wrote: "My friend told me, "I ship Katniss and Gale" and I told her, "When Katniss came home from the first hunger games, Gale was upset that she kissed Peeta instead of being..."Agreed.

Same, like he has his flaws, a lot actually, I agree, but I think that he was trying his best and he doesn’t deserve all the hate. Actually one of the reasons I ship him with Katniss(or the main reason) is bc I loooovveee the friends to lovers trope.

I read this book for the fist time a couple of months ago so I’m not quite sure if I will be rereading it this month, but it is a possibility. :)
I've read the hunger games over 5 times and I've loved it every time. I feel like I always learn something new that I didn't catch the last couple of times when I read it.
THG was my first ever dystopian novel and talk about a good starter book omg but honestly the hype ruined it. i went in with expectations too high ugh. but i still enjoyed it so much!! katniss was my first protagonist that wasn't a damsel in distress(i read this book when i was really young, i think about 14) but was strong and fought for her own survival. i swear Katniss changed the way I saw/read about female protagonists. She was a game-changer for my reading journey.
i just finished Hunger Games 2 days ago, i obviously already know it because i've watched the movie and i love the movie and right now that i read the book i can say that i loved also the book. i found interesting some of the differences between the movie and the book and another thing that i loved a lot is that in the book, i liked peeta. honestly i didn't expect that i would have like peeta, because i don't like him in the movie, i really hate peeta in the movie, but in the book is another thing, he looks better in the book than in the movie, i was surprised about it. Anyway i liked it, maybe i still like more the movie than the book, but i really really enjoyed it and i'm very satisfied!! i'm happy that i finally read it and i can't wait to read the second.
I finished reading all the Hunger Games books in January 2021, and I saw all the films 3 times, and I intend to reread the series (if it works) now in May.I simply LOVE these books, they are my second favorite series of books and the films, they are, my favorite films.
My favorite characters are Gale and Haymitch, Gale is perfect for me, and Haymitch, I don't know why, both in the movies and in the books, I find him very funny
THG- P E R F E C T
So I actually read this book this month (ik I'm so frickin' late)And I sort of liked it. But the hype surrounding it was way too much that this kind of disappointed me. I didn't care about any of the characters, except maybe Rue. (view spoiler)
The major part of this book took place in the arena and being someone who likes being in different surroundings while reading books, it kind of bored me. But I understand this was necessary for the book.
This wasn't as epic as I thought it would be, but I've heard the plot of Catching Fire is much better. (I've also heard that some people hate Mockingjay, but we're not gonna talk about that)

Catching Fire is definitely much better. Stick with it if you can. There's a few more really likable characters introduced in that book. A lot of people don't like Mockingjay because it doesn't have the same setting as the first book but if you don't like the setting of being stuck in the arena, you might really like Mockingjay

Oh really? Now I actually kinda want to continue.

Catching fire is amazing!
Personally I loved Mockingjay and how it ended.
I didn't much like the movie (unpopular opinion, I know), so I went with major apprehension. But I loved the book and want to continue the series, but still a little underwhelmed by the movies...
