Rashmi's 2015 challenge

Hi Megan,More than anything, I loved the way it was written...what beautiful use of the language! I want to read more Austen books now. I thought the plot itself was delightful, sad (obsession with the importance of "marrying well"), humorous (Mr. Collins), and touchingly romantic.
I haven't watched any of the adaptations as I wanted to read the book first. Do you recommend the 2005 movie with Keira Knightley?

The most faithful adaptation is the BBC Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, so I always recommend that one. But Keira Knightley's version was good and very beautiful to watch!
I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time last year. I loved it! I would read faster to get to the Darcy and Elizabeth parts. The Keira Knightley movie is a really good adaption. It's the only movie I've seen from that world but I liked it.
Good luck with your challenge, Rashmi! Jane Austen is on my reading list this year too. I haven't read any of her books, but I can't wait to try a couple.
Thank you Cassandra. Pride and Prejudice was my first book by Jane Austen. (If you're a Kindle user, you can find a lot of her books for free, since the copyright expired.)Adriana, thanks for the suggestion. I used to wait impatiently for the Darcy-Elizabeth parts too!
That's good to know! I know I got Sense and Sensibility for free or very cheap on Kindle, but I haven't read it yet.
Reading progress update:1. Pride & Prejudice
2. Mr. Mercedes (Stephen King)
3. The Beasts in the Void
4. The Eight Strokes of the Clock
..... 20 to go :)
This is my first reading challenge and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
Which Austen book is your favorite so far? I'm reading Pride and Prejudice right now and it's great. I haven't gotten too far into the Elizabeth/Darcy romance yet (it's just starting). I'm surprised that the language is so accessible.
I think I like Sense and Sensibility the most, although it's hard to pick. I never understood why most readers don't like Northanger Abbey. I thought it was a pleasant read and nicely demonstrated the innocence of the main character. Is Pride and Prejudice your first Austen book too?
Yup, Pride and Prejudice was my first Austen book. I read it because one of my good friends was writing about it for her thesis paper.I ended up not liking the middle nearly as much as I liked the beginning, so it took me a while to get through. I did like the ending, though!
Only 4 more books to go. So why am I feeling sad? No one said I shouldn't exceed my challenge. How silly.I'm so excited about starting the Hannibal series!
Update:
12. Persuasion (another pleasant one by Austen)
13. Rosemary's Baby - (I have to say WOW!!)
14. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - (Amazing read, made me cry and laugh and cry and laugh and cry...)
15. Steppenwolf (A book I have connected with immensely.)
16. The Martian (enjoyable, well-researched. Had me rooting for the protagonist)
17. The Bell Jar (I still have a book hangover after this. It hasn't left me yet.)
18. Don't Look Now: Selected Stories of Daphne Du Maurier - (Came across this one quite by accident. Was a pleasant surprise)
19. Submerged (a freebie on Amazon. Good thriller. The writing could have been better though)
20. Red Dragon (woohoo!)
