To me, it sounds like the into to a bad film noir movie of the 30s. I would expect Humphry Bogart, Sidney Greenstreet, George Raft, Betty Davis, and Peter Lorie to show up in the first 50 pages.
That is not meant to be a literary insult. What I mean to show is that there is nothing in your intro that would grab my attention other than it is a throw back to a form of writing and movies who's time came and went a long while ago.
Best of luck anyway. Who knows, you might start a revival.

Thank you for your comment. I didn't take it as an insult; you're entitled to your own opinion and preferences in everything, including books.
Moreover, it's constructive criticism taken into account by the author that makes a difference in our writing. Although, I must say, I really love the actors you've mentioned haha. Still, thank you! Have a lovely day!
