Mandy | 33 comments The correct name for the author JC Andrijeski is as it is on Amazon in this author record - https://www.amazon.co.uk/JC-Andrijesk... but on Goodreads she has full stops so it says J.C. Andrijeski in this author record - https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
Just to add to the discussion she is JC Andrijeski on Kobo too - https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/search?que...

Is it possible to change Goodreads to match Amazon and everywhere else as I and other readers find it a little confusing when they look different? Thanks for your thoughts and guidance.

Scott | 9239 comments It is GR policy to have initials properly punctuated. I'm not sure how that is confusing.

"Proper" punctuation is debatable, and subject to definition by style guides. Regardless, on Goodreads the policy is for author names including initials to have dots (and no space between them).

Mandy | 33 comments Thank you for that explanation and the pointer to the policy. The confusing part for me is that it looks different to other places (who don't enforce that format) plus there is nothing in GR to prevent people from adding books with an author that is the same format as those other places (because that is what they see I assume). For example, someone (not the author as I checked with her) has added her latest books under an author name with that format - https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... which obviously means they do not appear with her other books. So either the rule has to be consistently enforced by the system or it will sadly constantly create work for librarians as I and others ask for books to be updated/corrected.

Hugo (hugo_nebula) | 740 comments I've fixed the Andrijeski books so that they now appear on the J.C. Profile. The JC Profile will be automatically deleted in time.

There's no way for this punctuation to be done automatically or forced when creating an entry, so manual correction is the only option: please let Librarians know when this issue occurs and we will fix it—it's what we're here for! :o)
