Though restricted to a wheel chair, legally blind, extremely hard of hearing, and suffering from occasional bouts of dementia, Ms. Harper is still very much alive and and as able as can be expected for a woman of her age - 88 years old. As the author, and still living, Ms. Harper holds the copyright to her work and signed a release for publication in the presence of her attorney and agent. Go Set a Watchman is scheduled to be released in 6 months. 2 million copies are being printed for the initial round of publication. There is no indication that Ms. Harper will not be around to accept the first copy off the press.

While technically alive, your description of her doesn't inspire me to believe that she even knows what is happening. I'm going to keep my memories of a beloved book intact and avoid the hoopla. http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2015...

Those who wish to obtain a copy and read the book, upon its release on July 14, 2015, will do so. Those who don't, won't.

I resurrected The Seahorse Tale which was originally written for NaNoWriMo about 2002. It had some serious editing over the years, a change of gender for the Rainbow Serpent and some tweaking this year. If you would like to review it for free, pls email me at

Ms. Lee actually wrote Go Set a Watchman first, but never sought publication. It takes place 20 years after the time period featured in To Kill a Mocking Bird, which was published in 1960 and sold 40 million copies.
To Kill a Mocking Bird is narrated as seen through the eyes of a young girl, the daughter of the main character, Atticus Finch. Her name is Jean Louise, but her father and everyone else in town always call her "Scout".
In the sequel, Jean Louise Finch is all grown up and returns to her southern hometown after spending many years in New York.
Author Harper Lee, now 88 years old, was finally convinced by her publisher and friends to release the long hoped-for sequel. Ms. Harper only consented to allow To Kill a Mocking Bird to be released in e-book format last year. She certainly knows her own mind and insists upon doing things her way. My kind of woman!
